I was in desperate need of a new stroller.  The umbrella stroller that we were using was killing my back, everything about it was wrong causing an ergonomic nightmare.  I have since received a new Kolcraft Contours Options 3 Wheeler stroller for review and it has been a life (and back) saver.

My Mom takes care of our daughter in our home, so she basically lives with us 5 days a week.  This is great because she is always home to answer the door when products arrive by courier.  Usually she leaves the products at the door for me when I arrive from work.  I was eagerly awaiting the Kolcraft Contours Options 3 Wheeler stroller to arrive so I could take pictures of my husband putting it together to show all of you.   It turns out, my Mother couldn’t contain herself either and took the liberty on herself to put the stroller together while I was at work.  At first, I was a little bit upset, because I really really wanted to show you what the stroller looked like before, during and after.  However, after thinking about it, I realized if my Mom could put this together on her own with an 18 month running around, it’s obviously pretty easy to put together.  Mom said it took less than an hour and the instructions were very easy to follow.

There are so many things I love about the Kolcraft Contours stroller.  I love that the handle hight is at the right spot.  My previous strollers handle was way too low (and I am not a tall person, so it must have been even worse for my husband).  I felt like I was constantly hunching over while pushing the stroller.  The Kolcraft Contours Option 3 Wheeler is the perfect height for me, my husband and everyone else I have asked to push it.  I also like that I can walk with a long stride and my feet do not hit the wheels.  Once again, with my previous stroller, with every step I took, the front of my toes touched the bar between the wheels.  I would then compensate by taking shorter strides.  I am only 5′2″ so my stride isn’t that long, so once again, imagine the hassle my husband had while using the stroller.  I also love the large 3 wheels that the stroller has.  This stroller can go anywhere we can.  It takes bumps, grass, rocks –  you name it – really well.  The large wheels just seem to glide over anything, making it really easy to push along.  Another great feature is the large basket under the seat.  The basket is perfect for shopping, I can put my daughters diaper bag and all my shopping bags in the basket without any problem at all.  This basket is even larger than the previous stroller I had (that was way too huge).

I recently took this Kolcraft stroller to Cuba for our vacation.  I am so happy that we decided to bring it.  Although it is larger than an umbrella stroller, it was perfect to bring around the resort and the streets of Varadero.  We were even able to bring this onto the beach.  We just turned the stroller around and dragged it by the back.  It was a little difficult for my husband, but it was way easier than any other stroller with tiny wheels.

Our daughter was able to nap in the stroller while we relaxed at the beach or the pool.  There is a large umbrella that was great for shade, and the seat was easily able to swivel down.  Although the seat isn’t able to fully recline, it leans back in a seated position. There is also the option to fully rotate the seat by simply pushing in 2 buttons, taking the seat off and then turning it around.  I kid you not, it is super simple.   The stroller also came with a car seat attachment that looks just as easy to put together (I would have tested it, but I already passed on my car seat to an expecting Mom).

The Kolcraft Contours stroller also has a very large and easy to access bar for putting on the breaks, and it’s just as easy to flip up the bar with your feet to take the breaks off.  Another great feature are the 2 deep cup holders for the parents and a large center compartment for anything else you would like to carry around (like lip chap or a wallet).

The stroller is easy to fold down and considering its size, it breaks down fairly small and is not too heavy.  The stroller fits just perfectly into our compact size car (Toyota Corolla).   There is even a little bit of space left in the trunk for shopping bags.

Overall, I have really enjoyed the Kolcraft Contours Options 3 Wheeler Stroller.  It is a huge improvement from our previous umbrella stroller.  It’s larger, but I had nearly stopped using my previous stroller because it was so uncomfortable.  I hadn’t realized how important it was to have a quality stroller until I started using the Kolcraft Contours.  I use this stroller all the time and it remains comfortable for both myself and my daughter.  A stroller is meant to be used, and we get plenty of use with this stroller.

Safety is very important to me and my family.  It took a long time for my husband and I to get pregnant, and thankfully after lots of practice, we have a precious baby girl!  I’m sure many people would call me paranoid, or over protective, but her safety and well being is so important, that yes, I admit I may go overboard sometimes.  One place that I think no parent can go overboard in safety is car seats, and I received the ultimate safety seat from Britax for review.

Britax sent us the Advocate CS, which is a high capacity convertible seat.  This car seat has so many features, and it’s cute too in the fab pink and brown print.  Although my daughter is upwards of 30 pounds and is 19 months, I could have used this seat rear facing since the day she was born.  The seat can then turned around at 1 year old or 20 pounds and can be used until 65 pounds.  I don’t think any other seats can be used from 5 – 65 pounds!  So we still have lots and lots and lots of adventures to take in our new Britax car seat.

The car seat was super easy to install, simply put the seatbelt through a small opening near the rear part of the seat.  There is also an extra safety clip that hooks onto the back seat of the car (most cars come with this little clip).  That was it, the seat was in the car and we were ready to go.

One thing that was frustrating with our previous seat was having to the adjust the harness.  As my daughter grew bigger, the harness straps needed to be adjusted.  We had to take the seat our of the car, and unhook the straps, and thread them through on a higher adjustment.  With this Britax car seat there is no need to take out the seat to adjust the straps.  There is a a knob on the side of the seat that you turn, and it adjusts the straps – that’s it, it’s that easy!  I absolutely love this feature.  The back has a screw like feature that heightens or lowers the straps while I turn the knob - genius.

The car seat also has some comfortable features for the kiddies. The 5 point harness system not only has extra safety features such as the HUGS system, but also has comfortable neck pads, one for each strap, so your child’s neck wont scratch against the thick straps.  In her old seat, I used to have to pull her shirt between her neck and the strap so this wouldn’t happen.   There is also an extra pad under my daughters bum, just in case an accident were to happen in the car seat.  You can remove this little pad and wash it, rather than having to wash the entire car seat cover.

Upon first receiving my car seat, I thought it was going to be way too big for our car, as it did seem bigger than our  current seat.  This is mostly because the side impact panels are very thick, making this car seat extra safe.  However, after putting it in the car, it’s not really much of a difference at all.  There is still enough room for 2 people to sit in the back seat.  It might be a bit of a tight squeeze, but it can be done nearly just as easily as it was with the other slightly smaller seat we had before.

Overall, I am so pleased with our new Britax car seat.  I feel that my daughter is super safe in this thing.  It is pretty much the Cadillac of all car seats.  Not only is it safe, it’s adorable, and it’s comfortable too.  It seems that every time we go for a ride in the car, my daughter is asleep in just a few minutes.  This alone is a God sent because lately, our little precious angel isn’t sleeping that well, so there is little quite time for us adults.  If it seems that it’s going to be one of those no nap days, we simply put her in the car in her Britax car seat and our princess is out like a light.  The great part is, she doesn’t lay forward, like in her old seat.  She leans back, so there is no worry about her being uncomfortable leaning forward during a nap.

I would suggest this seat to anyone, it is amazing!

I’ve put my baby on the floor to change her bum since the day she was born.  It doesn’t matter where we are, I’ll just usually put a little receiving blanket or change pad under her bottom and make the change as quickly as possible.  I never really thought about how uncomfortable it might be for her.  I always thought safety was more important than comfort.  I have a few different change pads, some are just a simple pieces of material, while others have a little layer of foam.  I never really put too much thought into a change pad, until I received the Ah Goo Baby change pad from Adorable Baby for review.

This change pad is the Cadillac of all change pads.  It has it all – style, comfort and function.  The change pad comes all rolled up in a tube and has 2 elastics on each end to stay rolled up while not in use.  When the change pad is opened up, it reveals a beautifully soft plush fabric (just in the middle where baby lays down), and a memory foam cushion that is about 1/4 of an inch thick.  This is way more comfortable for changing a baby than a hardwood floor.

The cover is removable, and washable – which is great, especially because the Ah Goo Baby change pad is suggested to be used for more than just a change pad.  It can be used for little babies just to relax on.  I once again used to put my daughter on the carpet to play around, on a blanket with a towel underneath (in case of an accident while changing diapers) I know that this change pad would have been much more comfortable.  The change pad also comes enclosed with a water replant fabric, so they pretty much thought of everything.

This is an adorable change pad.  Although it takes up more room than a regular change pad, there will be nothing more comfortable for your child to lay on while getting their bum changed.  Both my daughter and my dog love this change pad.  As you can see, my dog thinks it is very comfortable.  I would suggest this change pad for younger babies, as my 19 month old is longer than the pad.  The pad is 21.5 inches, and my daughter is 33 inches.  Her head, body and bum fit nicely on the pad, but her legs do hang off the edge.  But the most important part is that she is comfortable and safe when I change her.

Adorable Baby is owned and operated by Krista and Brent Pasnak in Fort Saskatchewa, Alberta, Canada.  The business was started in November of 2008 when they discovered there wasn’t a great selection of products for children in the area.  The online store was completed in July of 2009, which allowed them to bring their business to a wider clientele. All products are hand picked by the owners and only the best products make it into the store! Adorable Baby has so many products available in their online store, everything from babywearing to cloth diapers to clothing and everything inbetween.

As we have just passed the milestone of one year and we venture out more and more with our son, we are a bit overwhelmed with the assortment of sippy cups, binkies and whatnot we have to take with us everywhere. After a recent birthday party with all the children under two years old I have become all too aware of how kids love to take others kids’ stuff and claim it as their own. My son will take a soother out of another babies mouth and put it in his own, I am appalled but what is a mom to do? Label every thing…although I cannot prevent my son from taking other children’s things, at least I know he is only taking our own stuff home with us.

We were sent for review the All Purpose Icon labels from I.D Me Labels. First, let me state how easy they are to order; pick your font (choice of 10), pick the color (your choice of 9), choose the size (circle, rectangular etc), add the name (10 characters per first and 10 characters for the last name) and select an icon from the list (cupcakes, pirate ships, starfish etc) and the quantity and that’s how easy it is to order.  We choose the round labels in blue with a turtle and they are incredibly cute; very appropriate for a one year old. Our package had 30 labels and we use ours predominately on his books and sippy cups, they stick to board books particularly well and both his stainless steel and his plastic sippy cups. It was rather funny as my husband said “don’t bother with the sippy cups, it is just going to come off anyways”. Well, not so far. Truthfully I was surprised as well, I expected it to tatter or come half way off when I washed it. Thus far, it looks as good as new. As a bonus, I can still peel it off in one piece, it takes a bit of effort to start the peeling but it hasn’t ripped yet as they are waterproof, dishwasher- and microwave-safe…Bonus. Along with their line of really durable lables, I.D Me Labels are separated into several easy to navigate categories; daycare, school, clothing, household etc. Each category has a selection of really well thought out  items for the organized or those who want to get organized in every category.

My personal favorite from the daycare line are the Strap Mates; they go on your child’s shoes to personalize them and make sure they take the correct sneakers home. (so much cooler than writing your child’s name in markers). If you’ve ever had your sneakers mistakenly taken from school, you know how cool these are. The school labels from I.D Me Labels feature bag tags, seriously these are so beyond cute. In the small city I live in there are only a handful of places to get school supplies so I am guessing there would be more than one of the same kit bag in every classroom. Solve the problem by using bag tags; they are stylish and functional, what’s not to love? There are many great labels for the kids, but what about Mom and Dad?

Don’t worry, I.D Me Labels has the perfect solution for organizing your stuff….The I.D Label Me Craft Pack includes 75 labels that can be used on plastic storage bins, boxes and shelves. Just think how easy you could sort all your stuff for every room in your house. There is a label for practically everything; baby, recipes, brushes, bakewear, stencils, paint and holidays just to mention a few.

As a child of the 80’s I always loved the commercials that end with “and knowing is half the battle”. Wondering why? Well, I think this life is a learning process and I believe we should all try to do better once we know better. This is how my love of  organic cotton and all things natural began. I have discovered once I started reading and learning more about why natural is better for us and our environment I have really tried to make the commitment to use more organic cotton and natural products  everywhere I can. The first room I attempted to convert was our bedroom by using organic cotton linens for our bed and my son’s crib. Naturally Good.Net has an extensive line of very beautiful organic cotton duvet covers, in particular, I love the Sage Leaf pattern with matching bed skirt and shams. The crisp and fresh collection makes me want to crawl in bed and relax. Be sure to check out Naturally Good. Net’s collection of blankets (i.e waffle weave, crepe weave and the chenille) to complete your oh so suggly collection of gorgeous and healthy linens for your retreat room. Moving on to the next room on my “conversion” list, the bathroom…hmmm, what to do? Where does one start? The best place to start is the thing I use every single day, my bath mat. I received for review an organic cotton bath mat from Naturally Good. Net’s and it’s far superior to my old bath mat.

Who knew there could be such a difference? Firstly, it is really, really thick cotton and feels amazing underneath my tootsies. It’s all organic cotton, meaning there is none of that sticky plastic underlay that is often found on a typical bathmat one can purchase from most large department stores.

You know the stuff that comes off by the handfuls every time you wash the mat and eventually comes completely off leaving you with a pile of fuzzies and nothing else. As well as being unbelievably soft; the bath mat from Naturally Good. Net is well…naturally good for us and the environment as it does not contain formaldehyde finishes, pesticide residue, toxic flame-retardants or dioxins because it is not bleached (leaving the bath mat a rich cream color) . I have used this bath mat day in and day out for several weeks and it still looks brand new, I haven’t had a problem with it smelling funky or getting worn as my usual mat did. I used to replace my bath mat every few months or sooner because they get so dirty and worn looking so quickly but I guess when one only spend 10 bucks on a cheap mat, you get what you pay for.

My beautiful bath mat has started me on the conversion process for my bathroom. Additionally, Naturally Good. Net has two amazing lines of bath towels  too; the Pure Rest and the Coychui line which are available in several colors and sizes sure to suit every decor.

Because the owners behind Naturally Good. Net are concerned with all things that are good and healthy for us and our planet they offer an extensive line of natural products for you and your family for inside and outside your home. As I continue this journey of knowledge, I look to sites such as Naturally Good.Net for their continuously growing assortment of products as well as all the information provided on their site. I am an avid reader, always asking questions and I love that Naturally Good.Net has a page dedicated to Q&A, such as “Why Organic”, “Why are soy wax candles better” and lots of other helpful information to help everyone make better purchasing decisions. Want to know more? Want to make your home more healthy? Visit Naturally Good.Net online.
