The internet is a marvelous place!  I live on the east coast of Canada, and it seems that we have been forgotten when it comes to all the latest and greatest products. There are no brick and mortar stores that sell a lot of the items I have featured on by website and I live in an urban area! I feel really terrible for those that live in Northern areas or hours away from a city, because there is no chance that their local Mom and Pop shop are going to have any of the hottest new trendy items.  And if you are lucky enough to find something, the price has usually been so inflated it should be gold plated.  This is what makes the internet so amazing – no matter where you live, you can find exactly what you are looking for, and it can be shipped straight to your door.

Play and Learn Toys also carries high quality quilts, receiving blankets, bunting bags and bibs by companies such as Swaddle Designs and Bizoux Bizoux.  These companies are very hip and modern, there are no fluffy bears on any of their designs.  These would make excellent gifts for new babies as you would be sure to be giving a product that is unique (can’t get it at your local big box store) and modern.

Christmas Gift Idea for babies, toddlers and kids

Like adults, children’s clothing sizes varies depending on which company makes them. At 8 months our little dude  weighs a whopping 24 lbs. He can wear a size 6-12 months or a 12-18 months depending on the particular pants. He’s adorable but lets face it, he’s kinda chubby. As well as being a bit chubby, we are a cloth diapering family and with the extra padding, few of the pants that are supposed to fit him do. More often than not the 6-12 month pants fit him in the legs but are too small in the butt and belly area so we move up to the 12-18 month pants so more often than not he’s wearing a size bigger to accommodate for the extra room needed in the butt area. Like his mommy, the pants that fit him in the butt are too long and too big in the waist. I thought it was only women who had this problem!

Lucky for us, we were sent for review the Dapper Snappers in chocolate brown with blue snaps from Baby Grins.

Since becoming pregnant and subsequently having the cutest baby on the planet (as we all think our babes are) I am obsessed with all things baby. In particular, I’ve searched the Internet high and low for the perfect items for our nursery. Baby products are not just about satisfying baby’s needs. Sure, it is important to look at form and function, practicality, thoughtfulness and a little ingenuity, but parents crave an additional element that is often overlooked: style. For review, I received a “Pink Diamond” baby bib, a “Butterflies” burp cloth and a “Blue Diamonds” mini plush baby blanket with toy / pacifier strap. Let me say at the outset that I loved them all – and how could I not?

The baby bib is made of a thick, durable polyester cotton blend that looks fantastic. The terry cloth backing increases the bib’s absorbency and can double as an extra face cloth in moments of panic (a.k.a. the kind of moment where you wish you had ten extra cloths and at least three extra arms to handle the mess your kid joyously just created). The bib fastens with a double snap (for adjustable neck sizing), so it presents a wee bit more of a challenge for those who like to pull their bibs off mid-feeding (not pointing any fingers here).  And it washes like a dream.

The burp cloth is made of the same material as the bib, making it a perfect must have item for going out. Or, if you prefer, use it at home when you have seen one too many rosebud or truck patterns in your day and need a fashion pick me up. The burp cloth stores easily, so it does not add too much bulk to your already large diaper bag.

Our favorite was the mini baby blanket. Again, made of the same polyester cotton blend chic design, but the backing is an absolute delight for baby. Made of a soft plush microfiber, Genevieve could not decide which she liked more: sucking on the blanket or squishing the softness between her toes. This mini blanket, measuring at 15 x 20 inches, has a great flap of material with snap closure so that you can either attach the blanket to your stroller or affix your soother. I love this feature. Love it. The website, www.themodernbabyco.com boasts a selection of coordinating wall art, pillows and mobiles.

I am not a creative person, so when I see people that have talent, I am truly amazed by how professional the end product turns out.  People are usually really good at one or two different creative activities.  The Crafty Moms is a group of moms who all happen to be creative and are experts at making all different things.  From tutus to headbands, there is a great variety of items at The Crafty Moms all made by hand by different mothers.

For review, The Crafty Moms sent Genevieve a crochet headband made by Terre Morton.  The headband fits perfectly on Genevieve’s 1 year old head, however she is at a time in her life where she doesn’t want anything on her head, so unfortunately, the headband stays on for 2.5 seconds.  I am soooo sad that she doesn’t like to wear hats or headbands, because she has the most fantastic verity that she could wear.

Despite the fact that Genevieve isn’t a fan of wearing anything above her shoulders, I love the crochet headband that The Crafty Moms sent for review.  What I was really impressed by is the attachments that came with the headband – yes, that;s right attachments.  Included with the white headband were 3different clip on bows and flowers that can be changed to match any outfit.  I think this is just the most genius idea.  Each clip can easily be switched up and is simply kept in place by putting the clip through the crochet holes – simple yet effective.  The headband has quite a bit of stretch to it, so I expect that once she gets over her OCD of taking things off her head I expect that it will still fit her.

The Crafty Moms also offers handmade diaper bags, binky clips, bracelets and dolls and they are all made by Moms.  I am a proud supporter of WAHM’s, especially when the quality of work is there.  If the headband is any indication of all the products at The Crafty Moms you will be pleased.  The prices are also amazing!

When my package from Eden’s Bouquet arrived in the mail, I knew it was the perfect outfit for Genevieve’s 1st birthday party!  For something to be birthday party worthy, it has to be absolutely adorable, sophisticated and something that no one else will be wearing to the party (I wonder if there will ever be a birthday party registry like they have at prom?).  The outfit that I received from Eden’s Bouquet is all these things and more.

Eden’s Bouquet has the most adorable clothing and accessories for babies, toddlers and children.  All their clothing is made to order and is hand sewn in USA.  Most of their clothing looks like something straight out of a 1800’s history book with lots of ruffles, lace and poof.  The clothing also has a very modern touch with sleek lines and simple colours.

For review Eden’s Bouquet sent the Poplin Tie Dress and a pair of matching Pebble Linen Bloomers.  The outfit is just TO-DIE-FOR.  The grey dress which is made from a very smooth and soft and made from raw ivory silk.  You can really feel the difference in the material.  The dress has cute little sleeves and the back has two long ties which makes the dress fit well in the front.  The ties are rather long, so I tied them around Genevieve’s waist and made a bow in the front.  As she starts to get a little more girth, and fill out the dress more, I will tie it in the back.  Once she starts to get taller, she will be able to wear this dress as a smock.

The bloomers which we also received for review, are made from linen and have the cutest elastic detail which forces the bottom of the bloomers to fluff out.  The bloomers are not your average pants that fit over just the diaper, they are more like capri pants that cover her diaper and most of her legs.  The bloomers really finish off the outfit, and make a huge statement about your child’s (and your) sense of style.

Genevieve looked like a million bucks at her birthday party, and everyone made comments about her fantastic outfit.  She looked more than adorable on her birthday and there was not even a slight chance that anyone would have the same outfit as her!

The clothing at Eden’s Bouquet are superb, fresh and sweeter than anything I have seen.  You will never find anything like this at a local big box store, the quality of work and fabrics are far beyond what you would find.  The clothing are classic outfits that your children will get a lot of wear out of, they will outgrow the out fits before they fall apart or go out of style.

For review, The Baby’s Bundle sent Genevieve a Snuggle blanket.  This cute little 12 x 12 blanket with green fluffy minki on one side and green and brown dots in silk on the other is just so soft.  There are a few things that I love about this Snuggle blanket.  The first is the size – it is just great.  Genevieve is not quite a year old, so this is the perfect size for her tiny hands to hang onto.  It’s nice and light so she is also able to lift it and bring around with her anywhere she goes,and  it doesn’t drag long the floor when I am bring her around.  The second thing that I love is how soft it is.  The minki looks like little roses and is just so soft, it feels so nice to rub this blanket on my sensitive skin, so I can be sure it feels just as nice on Genevieve’s skin as well.  The third thing I love is the softness of the silk,  it’s a totally different kind of soft, it’s slick and cool.  It’s great for babies to have different textures to touch and feel, and this blanket has all those things.

I also received a pair of Baby Legs from The Baby’s Bundle for review, but not just any pair – a pair of Canada Day Baby Legs.  This is the type of service you will get from The Baby’s Bundle, they knew I was Canadian, and that Canada Day was coming up, so they sent some holiday appropriate review items.  I thought it was really sweet of them.  This is my first pair of real Baby Legs, and they are great.  The looked great on Canada Day too, Genevieve was all decked out in red and white, right down to the leggings.  These make diaper changes so easy, and stay up really well on her chubby thighs.  These can also be worn on the arms as well for older kids.

The Baby’s Bundle has the most adorable, and luxurious baby items.  I would love to have anything made from minki.  It just makes everything look fantastic and beautiful.  They also make some tutu hangers, sassy sally hair clips and have some incredibly furry baby booties that are just too cute for words.
