Inscribe-it is bringing back all those classics books that you and I read as a child, but is adding one very important feature – they personalize it (something that was never available when I was a child).  Whether you are looking for a book for a new baby, a child, a tween, teen or an adult, you will be able to find anything you want.  Then, you can personalize the book for the receiver, with a note and a photo, just the way you want it.

I had a hard time picking out a book for our little monkey, but in the end, I picked,,,  ”The Monster at the end of this Book”.  Do you guys remember this book?!?  Growing up, Grover was my favourite – he was the silliest Monster before Elmo was born.  So, as you can imagine, “Monster at the end of this Book” was a classic in my home.  Grover, being the scardy cat that he is, hears about a Monster at the end of the book, and does not want to find out who it is,,, in the end, it is he that is the monster.

I really enjoy reading this book to my daughter because it brings back a lot of memories, and it is pretty funny too.  The words are really big (so grandparents won’t have any trouble reading to your kids), and the colours are bright, which keeps the kids interested.  The book is very exciting, and each time you flip the page, Grover has a reason that you shouldn’t continue reading.  Not to worry, the book isn’t scary at all.

Now onto the personalization.  Each Book has the option to personalized the inside front cover.  You can pick your own saying to insert into the book, or use one that Inscribe-it has suggested.  There is a lot of room to write whatever message you would like.  You can also add a photo in the message.  I chose a picture of my daughter, and wrote her a personal message about how I enjoyed this classic book as a child, and am very excited to be reading it to her now.  Before checking out for payment, you get a preview of what your book is going to look like, so it gives a great opportunity to proof read before it goes to print.

I have been very pleased with the customer service at Inscribe-it as well, they have always been quick to answer emails, and want to make sure the process to order a personalized book is as seamless as possible.

There are countless books at Inscribe-it that can be personalized, there is something for everyone, even adults.  So if a book is on someones special Christmas List, why not make it extra special and make it personalized?

Without telling you exactly when I was born I can tell you several key things I remember about my childhood which will give you an idea of what decade I grew up in. We rode in the back of the truck without seat belts, my first day of school I carried a Hollie Hobby lunch bag and I loved the television show Romper Room. For those of you who remember, Romper Room was a childrens tv show, featuring children playing games, exercising, and music. At the end of each show the hostess would look through the “magic mirror” to give the effect of looking into the homes of those little ones watching and say a little rhyme which started “Romper, bomper, stomper boo.” and would end with the hostess saying “I see Jennifer, I see Michael, Tracey, John” etc. I watched Romper Room every time just praying she would say my name…and nope, nada, it was never said, well at least not that I heard. I think that’s when my love affair with finding personalized items began. My name is Tara and I am sure many of you are thinking that it shouldn’t be all that hard to find notepads, pencils, ornaments with my name…wrong again. Trust me, next time you see a rack of personalized mugs, look for Tara….odds are its not there. Please let me know if you do find one. stick That being said, we have done the same to our son as we have named him Hudson, we feel we given him a bit of a unique name and that is why I was thrilled to find the freckle box website. Frecklebox is a wonderful website with an amazing assortment of personalized gifts for all you parents out there;  especially those who have given your children such wonderfully unique names such as Viola, Astrid, Adelia, Fionn, Ellis and Beckett..just to name a few.

lunch boxes

Frecklebox is the brain child of Scott and Mark who combined their knowledge of printing with the love of educating their children. I was asked to choose a personalized product for review and I poured over this website for an hour trying to make the perfect choice, there are so many options! I love frecklebox because of the variety of products as well as price points available. Coloring books are very budget friendly at only $6.95, puzzles are $12.95, lunch boxes are $26.95 each and books are $19.95 for soft cover and $34.95 for hard cover.

zooI choose the hard cover book ” Goes to the Zoo” personalized with Hudson for review and we love, love, love it! The front cover features several of the zoo animals featured in the book, there is a page for a personalized dedication, even the spine of the book had the full personalized title. “Hudson goes to the Zoo” takes Hudson through 16 full color pages of beautifully photographed animals with the challenge of finding their names camouflaged in each setting. b Each double page spread features animals who invite your child to partake in the adventure. Hudson goes to the Zoo begins with “Howdy Hudson, Welcome to our magical zoo. We’re so glad you’ve come to visit. There so much we have to do”. It  is so cute and so well done, kudos to frecklebox! There are currently nine stories to choose from, I also love the idea of the book “ Guess who is  going to be a big brother” but we’ll have to wait a bit for that one!  Frecklebox he website is set up so you can preview the entire book with the personalization so you can read the story and see how beautiful it will be. We received our book with two weeks of ordering it and we are thrilled with it. We read it to Hudson everyday and it will be cherished in our home for years to come.

iseeme

I love reading to Genevieve, my absolute favourite book to read to Genevieve is the book that I received from I See Me! The book we received is called My Very Own Name and is a very special book that is made just for Genevieve. Before I received my book I didn’t know what to expect from I See Me! Inc. I knew that I going to receive a personalized book, but I never thought that it was going to be as amazing as when I first read it.

iseeme1The I See Me! book is just fantastic. This book is all about Genevieve, it includes her birthday and then each page has an new letter that spells out her name. The book has all sorts of different animals that have come together to make a beautiful name for a new baby. The book includes Genevieve’s first and last name, and it rhymes as well. The book also has some very beautiful and colourful pictures of all the animals.

Like I said, this is my favourite book to read to Genevieve right now, because I know it has been made especially for her and is all about her. I am sure as she gets older, this is going to be her favourite book. Every child likes to know that they are important and this is a sure way for them to know that they are special and important. A book all about them.

iseeme2After receiving my book, I showed it to my aunt, and she decided to buy two of these books for her granddaughters – her granddaughters have EVERYTHING, and this is something that she knew they did not already have and that it would be special for them. The girls loved their books. They always want to be read their I See Me! book, and the older one can read her own book that is about her. How special is that?

iseeme3

I See Me! also has an amazing return policy if you are not 100% satisfied with your book. I actually had the opportunity to test out this system. I’m not sure how I did this, but I made a huge booboo when giving Genevieve’s information to I See Me! I accidentally put the wrong birthday. I have no idea how I did this, but sure enough, I put the wrong birthday. All I had to do was let I See Me! know about the mistake, and they shipped me a brand new book – how easy is that? Now I have a brand new book with the right birthday! Super easy and now 100% satisfied. It doesn’t matter if it was I See Me! that made the mistake or if you made the mistake, I See Me!! will make it right.

As a new parent, I want to try to my best to bring up my daughter to be the best that she can possibly be when she grows up.  It is a huge task for a parent to take on. Raising a child is one of the most difficult things I have done, and it’s only just begun.  There are so many different books and Internet sites and advice from parents and unsolicited advice from strangers it is hard to know what to do in certain situations.  It is also hard to remember all the things you read and put them into practice when you’ve got a child to raise that is running around and you have to act on your toes.  Empower My Child has a unique concept that uses visual cues to help parents remember key aspects to parenting.

empower2Empower My Child has a two parts to it’s system.  The first part is a small book with parenting tips and skills and situational examples.  The book is small enough to fit in your purse or diaper bag so it can always be with you if you ever need to know what to do in a certain situation.  I like the book a lot.  The first day that I received it, I read it to my husband and mother.  The chapters and each subcategory are very easy to read and have great examples which come along with each parenting skill.  The book includes real situations with real examples.  I can just easily pick up the book at any time and read one of the topics, each topic is about a page long so there’s no need to set aside a lot of time.  It is simple to pick up the book and start where you last left off without missing anything.  I can also skip to categories which are appropriate for each situation I may be in.

empower1The second aspect to Empower My Child is that the book comes with matching T-shirts with each lesson title silk screened on it.  I received the ‘Give Me Hope’ t-shirt in raspberry.  I have to say the visual cues really do work.  Whenever Genevieve is wearing her Give Me Hope shirt, it almost brings me to tears.  I remember that she is just a small person, and it is up to me to bring her up and be the one to send her on her way.  I am reminded all day that I am the one that needs to bring her hope.  I also think that it is a cue for strangers and others around.  She is just a baby and the shirt is a cue that it is up to adults to bring her a safe environment where she can grow up to be confident in herself, this starts with us giving her hope.

The book and t-shirts by Empower My Child are an excellent and easy way for parents and everyone else to remember some important parenting lessons.  The visual reminder really does work.  You can buy the Empower My Child book and then purchase the t-shirts separately.  I would suggest getting the shirts that you need the most help in remembering.  Remember, we are the ones that are responsible for making a comfortable and loving environment for children to grow up and explore in.  With the Empower My Child shirts we are reminded that it is up to us to create those environments for them.
