Spa days used to be a real treat for me, unfortunately they doesn’t happen often these days. As a new mom, pampering has become a thing of the past and spa time has been replaced by a 15 minute shower and I am grateful for the “me time”.  On the occasion I do have a bit of spare time, I enjoy a bit of pampering so I was thrilled to receive a whole goodie bag of bath, body and home products from SpaDayR3.  Spa DayR 3 began as a ministry of spa workshops demonstrating ways to nourish the body and nurture the soul.

body wash

Each product is  made from natural ingredients (products do not contain mineral oil. Mineral oil is a refined synthetic by-product of petroleum, which prevents essential oils and beneficial nutrients from absorbing into skin) and essential oils with the goal  of combining  biblical principles and spa therapies designed to care for our physical, emotional and spiritual self.   In today’s world, we rarely take the time for our own well being,  SpaDayR3 encourages us to bring back the focus and consider all parts of our personal nourishment with particular emphasis on the care He provides and in what we receive being in His care.

foot

I have used many of the products available from SpaDayR3 over the past few weeks, and have a few favorites! I particularly enjoyed the Rejuvenating Retreat body wash; it is made with a heavenly mix of Almond Soap infused with our Exotic Flowers. It lathers up really nice, doesn’t dry out my skin and has a very faint scent, perfect for me as I enjoy a wee bit of scent but I am bothered by overly floral scented products so I  really liked using the body wash.

Additionally, the Renewing Sanctuary  Soles Foot Soak(3 oz) is also quite lovely. I am still trying to get rid of the last few (ok many) post baby pounds and I am out walking daily so my feet take a beating! The foot soak is 10 minutes of bliss, a wonderful way to pamper tired tootsies at the end of a long day.

jewellery

After a quick soak and a bit of a loofah to these tired tootsies, I used the Jasmine scented body cream, it is a thick and  rich cream and my feet were quite happy. Like the body wash, the cream is lightly scented. Just enough scent to be able to enjoy the fragrance without being so heavily scented it smells up the room for hours.

SpaDayR3 offers a wide variety of wonderful bath & body products, accessories, jewelry, environmental fragrance products and scripture teachings as a means of nourishing all facets of ourselves; mind, body and soul. The products are all very reasonably priced, usually under $15.00, exceptional value considering the quality of ingredients listed.

I love hand made items.  They just have so much love, sweat and sometimes tears put into them.  I own a sewing machine, and although I am not overly creative, have made a very few things on my machine.  It is through this experience that I really appreciate the quality of products that some people are able to provide with hand sewn items.

tinywiggles1Michelle Grenier and her mother Toni Plouffe who are from Calgary, Alberta make handmade bath items and accessories for babies and toddlers.  Their online Etsy store is called Tiny Wiggles.  I received the most fluffy bright blue swaddle hooded baby towel from Tiny Wiggles.  The presentation of the towel was superb.  It comes in a  large silky/satin bag, and then is wrapped with a beautiful matching ribbon.  A lot of thought went into the amazing packaging.  This is how all the items at Tiny Wiggles are sent out, so they would make a beautiful gift.  What makes this towel great is that there is a little section in the bottom for your babies feet to slip right into.  So, if your baby wants to wiggle around, they will remain in the towel while you try to dry them off.  Along with the nice soft blue terry, the towel also has a polka dot brown and blue fabric along the hood, which makes it look extra hip and modern.

tinywiggles2All the items as Tiny Wiggless are made by hand by Michelle and her Mom.  They usevery modern and up to date materials, so  you can be sure that your friends will wonder where you got all your nice items.  Tiny Wiggles also carries a hooded towel complete with arms and a zipper so there is no way they can get out of their towel, this would be great for after the pool.  You can also get matching wash mitts, and wash cloths, and blankets too.  There is also a number of clearance items, so make sure to check back often for some really great discounts on some superb handmade items.

Now that Genevieve is getting a little bit bigger and is super wiggly, it’s hard to get her all wrapped up after a tub bath. The hooded towel that I received from Bébé au Lait, couldn’t have come at a better time. The Bébé au Lait hooded towel comes in two sizes, infant and toddler. Alan, at Bébé au Lait suggest that we receive the toddler towel for Genevieve as she is almost a year old now. I must first say that Alan has the best customer service that I have encountered so far. Alan is so so fast with email and is extremely friendly.

bebeaulait1gifThe toddler Bébé au Lait hooded towel is actually a little bit smaller than the infant one, but has a very unique feature that helps to keep the towel on. The towel has a little magnet on the bottom section of the hood that keeps the hood stuck under the chin. The magnet works so well. Once the towel and hood are on, the magnet keeps the hood and the rest of the towel in place.

My husband found the towel a little bit small, but once I explained to him that the towel is meant for a toddler which would be walking around everywhere, he thought it was a brilliant idea. Once Genevieve is walking on her own we will be able to wrap her in this towel (and it will stay on because of the magnet), and she will also be able to walk in the towel without falling over – a definite bonus. Have you ever seen little children wearing beach sized towels, and trying to walk and then run, and end up falling? Well, the toddler towels at Bébé au Lait are meant to fit a toddler and have your child’s best interest in mind.

bebeaulait2gifThe Bébé au Lait toddler towel also has a little section for their arms to be wrapped up in, the top section of the towel is folded over which makes a little kid of pocket for little arms and hands to slip into. This is another feature which helps children keep their towels on. There is no need to wrap the towel around your child’s body and use the tuck in method, they will be able to just put their own hands inside the little pocketed section and wrap their own hands around their body and the towel will stay on.

So there you have it for function, now on to fashion. The hooded towel is of course fashionable – like all the products at Bébé au Lait. The towel that we received is a chocolate brown with a blue swirl pattern. This stylish fabric is placed all along the outside of the towel and the hood. So not only does the towel work great, but your child will look great as well.

Bébé au Lait has so many fashionable and functional items for children and moms too. They also carry Hooter Hider nursing covers, bibs and burp cloths.

stitchsensations

Normally I write each and every review and company overview that you see on My Wee View, however this next company, Stitchsations has such a marvelous explanation of their company, that I can not write anything better than what they have written.   Stitchsations is proud to be from Toronto, Canada and all their items are mde right here in Canada as well. Here is a little bit of what Stitchsations is all about:

Stitchsations – sensational stitches in time and tradition”

While shopping the market for decorative towels in 1980, Shaheda Bhabha noticed an absence of vibrant colors, textured stitches, and unique patterns. Soon after, she began creating her first collection of sophisticated embellished towels. Her imagination took flight as she discovered the endless possibilities taking bath towels to undiscovered places. Stitchsations emerged, meaning “sensational stitches” and dedicated to the art of embroidery. Stitchsationss quickly defined itself as a leader in embroidered home fashions, committed to the finest quality and consistently introducing wonderful new concepts in luxury towels

stitchsensations1Stitchsations offers a grand selection of towels; forty colors in 100% combed cotton Terry, velour’s, and accessories for kitchen and baby. Designs range from classic motifs to fashions for the future. Stitchsations collections feature ribbon embroidered Florals, detachable exotic fringes and glamorous beads, and gorgeous European laces. There is something at Stitchsations to adorn the simplest to the most ornate homes. Stitchsations towels proudly made in Canada, are sold locally and exported to Fine Linen Stores, Specialty Bath & Gift Boutiques, Catalogs, and upscale Department Stores internationally. Retailers have come to expect exquisite embroidery, impeccable detail and beautiful designs that stand the test of time. In fact two of Stitchsations first four designs are still best sellers!

stichsensationsI told you this is an amazing “About Us”.  Stitchsations also has a new line of baby bath towels, mitts and burp cloths.  The items are made from 100% terry cloth, and all stitched with fun patterns like ducks or words like “Princess”, you can get nearly any stitching you want on your order.  Whether getting something super fancy for your home, or a gift few a new baby, Stitchsations has a wide range of towel and decorative items that will be admired by everyone.

Tub time with a baby and a toddler is – well, pretty messy.  I may as well just get in the tub with Genevieve because usually by the end of the tub bath we are both soaked.  I have no idea how this manages to happen because I only put about an inch or an inch and a half of water. Julie Yenichek  has come up with a solution to this problem.  It seems that I am not the only one experiencing being drenched after tub time.  Julie created a wearable towel called the Yeni.

yeni

The Yeni is a long towel apron which has a strap that goes around the back of your neck. The Yeni stays on (hands free), so I can worry about washing Genevieve in the tub rather than worrying about staying dry.  The Yeni is not only functional, it is fashionable too.  The top of the Yeni has a super modern black and white pattern and it has been personalized with Genevieve’s name in bright pink across the top.

yeni3

The Yeni kept me dry while bathing Genevieve, but I found that the towel was very long and could have used another tie around my hips to keep it in place.  The Yeni reached all the way to my shins, that is quite a length for one piece of material to drag.  At the same time, I liked being able to pick up Genevieve out of the tub and wrap her up in the Yeni.  This is something I would not be able to do as well if there was an extra tie around my back. The best use of the Yeni is actually when I am bathing Cammy (our dog).  I find the Yeni works really well after tub time to pick her up and rub her dry.  Overall, we do like the Yeni very much, the towel is nice and thick and the upper section is very modern and fashionable.  I also like that the Yeni can come with personalization – or without.

yeni2

The Yeni comes in a number of different modern fabrics, thread colours and fonts.  You can create the Yeni that you want.  The personalized Yeni is $40, or if you choose to not have it personalized, it is only $30.

I contacted Boon about a product review after I received an email from one of My Wee View readers about a great product that Boon carries.  I encourage all of you to make suggestions about products that I should write about on My Wee View.  Many of you have probably already heard of Boon, but I was unaware of all the products that they carried.

boonThe product that the My Wee View reader was referring to was the Boon Squirt spoon.  I wasn’t sure how I was going to like the Squirt spoon at first because it does look kind of different.  I was pleasantly surprised once I tried it.  To use the spoon you have to twist off the bottom and fill it with baby food.  Then just twist the cap back on and keep squeezing the handle and food just keeps on coming out.  Genevieve loves this spoon because sometimes I just can not feed her fast enough.  With the Boon Squirt spoon the food just keeps coming, so both her and I are happy.  One thing that I did find out about the spoon is that the hole where the food comes out is very small, so the food has to be pured really well for it to fit through the hole.  Anything with chunks will plug up the squirt hole, and get stuck.

Here is Kristien’s email that she sent about the Boon Squirt Spoon:

I have a little girl who just won’t eat.  She had Bacterial Meningitis when she was a small baby and it complicated matters.  I used the Boon Squirt spoon to try to increase her interest in food and it WORKED!!!

It ended up helping 3 other mom with difficult to feed babies who also had medical issues.

Thought you may want to let people know about the other potential benefits of this product!

Thanks for the email Kristine, and sharing your experience with all My Wee View readers!

boon2

I also received Boon Fluid toddler cup.  Genevieve is only 10 months right now, and is just learning how to use a normal sippy cup, so I think the Boon Fluid toddler cup is a little too advanced for her at this time.  I do like the concept of the Boon Fluid cup though, it is suppose to make drinking a lot easier for toddlers as there is no need to tilt the cup at an extreme angle.

I also received the Boon Flo Water deflector and protective faucet cover with bubble bath dispenser.  This is a really neat product.  I first used this in our big bath tub that doesn’t have a little knob on the faucet so there was nothing toboon4really keep the Flo Water deflector in place.  It moved around a little, but not too much.  What I did love about it on this faucet was that the water could really flow out and spray a really good fountain because I could move the  Boon Flo to any place on the faucet I wanted to.  When I moved the  Boon Flo to the tub that also has a shower and has a knob on the faucet I found that the Flo stayed in place better, but that the water did not spray as nicely.  It still sprayed, but not as good as in our tub.  What I love about the  Boon Flo is that it completely covers the faucet.

Genevieve is now standing in the tub, and it is a worry that she is going to smack her head against the faucet.  The Flo water deflector is made from rubber so it would not be as hard at the faucet if she were to hit her head on it.  One last aspect of the  Boon Flo is that there is also a little section that bubbles can be put into.  Just turn on the tap and you’ve  got instant bubbles.  No need to go searching for your bubble bathe, they just wait in the dispenser until the next bath.

boon3The last item I received from  Boon is the Bug Pod.  This is seriously a must have for all of you.  The  Boon Bug Pod sticks onto the wall with suction cups, and there is a place on top to store all your bottles of shampoo and wash, and the back of the lady bug is also a scoop so it is super easy to pick up all the toys.  The lady bugs back has holes in it, so all the water comes out.  It’s so easy to clean up after bath time, and it looks cute in the tub and keeps everything neat and tidy.  Now, there are a few ways to put the  Boon Bug Pod on the wall.  Like I mentioned before, I just used the suction cups, and to my surprise it has stayed on the wall.  However, there are also adhesive strips and screws that can also be used.  I am not really a fan of screwing into the tub surround, but if the  Boon Bug Pod does start to come off the wall (as more and more toys are added), I would use the adhesive strips to ensure it will stay on the wall.

Boon has so many innovative and creative ideas and products.  They also donate 10% of all sales to children’s charities.  I just love that about companies.

Genevieve gets a bath every night at around 6pm, she goes in our big tub with about 1/2 an inch to an inch of water – that’s it!  I first lay her on her back and get all the business out of the way – wash her hair, her neck, between her fingers and toes, and then she can sit up on her own and play with all her toys for another 20 minutes or so, all while still sitting in the same 1/2 an inch to an inch of water.

bathluve3I am a very paranoid mother, and I never want Genevieve to be cold in anyway.  It’s nearly 15 – 20 degrees (celsius) and I still wrap Genevieve in a sweater and a warm blanket and a hat when we go outside.  The same goes for the tub, I want to make sure that she is always warm in her modest amount of water.  Amy Seckinger saw a need to keep babies warm in the small amount tub water that they are laying in, and 10 years ago the Bath Luvé was invented.  The Bath Luvé is a thick terry cloth cover shaped as a duck, fish or frog, that will cover your child’s exposed body parts keeping them warm and relaxed right before bed time.

I use the Bath Luvé every night.  I thought it may be too baby for Genevieve as she is now 8 months old, but it actually works really well.  When she first is laying down on her back to get her hair washed, I just soak the Bath Luvé in the water, and place the little fish over her

bathluve

chest, shoulders and other areas, the Bath Luvé is big enough to cover the area.  She just lays there all nice and toasty warm while I wash her down.  The cloth stays in place, and Genevieve isn’t cold or fussy at all. Once we are done all the business, it’s play time!  So while Genevieve is sitting in the tub, I soak the fish one more time, and then place it on her back.  The little shoulder straps lay on top of her shoulders while the rest of the fish hangs down all the way to her bum.  So now her whole back can stay warm while she is playing with her tub toys.  The Bath Luvé doesn’t fall down or fall off, but occasionally I do take it off to soak it in some warm water again to make sure Genevieve stays warm while taking a tub bath.

I have used a cloth over myself since I have been a young child to keep warm in the tub while relaxing, and they of course have all been to small, I would love it if Bath Luvé made these for adults, maybe not in the same patters, but something to keep me covered and warm.

These are dirt cheap at only $7 a peice!  You can also buy a cute little matching toy to acompany your Bath Luvé.
