January 24th, 2010EcoStore USA – $25 Gift Certificate – CLOSED
Babies are an aromatic lot. I had anticipated the smelly, poopy diapers and the ground up food stuck to every surface of my home and child but I was a bit surprised at the perseverance of some baby odours. Take for example the cloth diapers we use; they hold on to a smell like a tree takes root in the ground. I tried using tea tree oil in my washes and although that does help, it is not particularly helpful when my daughter is teething and her diapers take on a stench that makes me want to put her out on the clothesline.
I considered resorting to using a commercial laundry detergent to combat the smell, but since receiving EcoStore’s Laundry Detergent and Baby Shampoo for review, I have been saved from that choice. Originating in New Zealand, EcoStore has been carefully crafting their safe home cleaning and beauty products for over ten years. They pride themselves on their “no nasty chemicals” promise; this means: no toxic petrochemicals, no synthetic enzymes, no optical whiteners, no synthetic perfumes or dyes, no sodium lauryl sulphates, no phosphates, no chlorine, no ammonia, no parabens, no propylene glycol, no TEA, DEA or MEA. If you are wondering why these ingredients are not used by EcoStore, you can check out their website at www.ecostoreusa.com for more information (this is a great resource, by the way).
When I first used the EcoStore Laundry Detergent, I was hurriedly stuffing my laundry in the washer. I began squirting the bottle and was instantly annoyed that the dispensing hole was very, very small and that the detergent was not coming out fast enough for my impatient schedule. After cursing for a minute and emptying about a quarter of a cup into my washer, I began to wonder why the hole was as small as it is. And then I stopped squirting and decided to read the directions. Oops! Apparently, you only need between a tablespoon and a half to three tablespoons for a full load of wash. (Note to self: READ THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE USE). So, a bottle ofEcoStore Laundry Detergent will go a long way, which is better for the environment and your pocketbook. The detergent contains a bit of eucalyptus and my daughter’s stinky diaper problem seems to be solved!
The Baby Shampoo from ecostore is wonderfully gentle and even though we are a family of sensitive noses, nobody reacted to the light eucalyptus and citrusy smell. EcoStore carries over one hundred products, which includes ear wash shampoo, shampoo, conditioner and hypoallergenic shampoo for your pets!
