February 1st, 2010And then there was 1

Hi Everyone,

Just want to give you an update…

I no longer have any writers, they just have a few reviews to finish up & post.

When I first went back to work, I thought having a few writers would ease up some of my time.  I could have never predicted how much more administrative time it took.  It actually took so much time that I was unable to keep as close tabs on my site as I would have liked to.

All future product review will be conducted by me and my family and written by me.  This means that I will not be able to pump out as many reviews and giveaways as in the past, and I will not be able to feature every company that contacts me.  This is one part of my site that I really liked – giving every company big or small an equal opportunity to get exposure.

Thanks again to everyone for your continued support.

MWAH  (sound it out,,, you’ll get it)

January 24th, 2010Cupcake Cuddles

Although I often enjoy the convenience of a one stop shop for baby gear, I have to admit to being a little overwhelmed when I am often in these sites.  I end up spending as much time and more searching through the endless list of products.  And because I am determined to get all of my shopping done in one place, I can miss out on sales on other sites or the opportunity to compare products or not be able to see some really cool and fun products offered elsewhere.

Take for example the two items I received for review from Cupcake Cuddles.  The site itself is relatively small is size, offering a handful of products.  But as the founder of Cupcake Cuddles says, she wanted “to stick with what I know”.  As a result, you will find her favorite items; products she knows will become your favorites too.  The full list is as follows: blankets, silkies (more on these little treasures in a moment), toothbrush covers, baby leg warmers, burp cloths, baby hair clips and bows.

One of the items we received, the Silkie, is a luxuriously soft mini blanket for your baby’s comfort.  Think about the large security blanket most kids lug around (you know, the ones that are large enough to drag on the ground as your wheel your kid through grocery stores and public washrooms) and know you have a practical solution.  The Silkie measures 15″ x 15″ so even your littlest wee one will have no problems handling it.  As an extra bonus, the Silkies can be coordinated with Cupcake Cuddles‘ blankets and burp cloths.

The second item for review is a flipper toothbrush cover.  The “piggy” we received is wonderfully cute and I can see how a child would get a charge out of protecting their toothbrush with it, even when you aren’t travelling.  The protector has suction cups to adhere to the mirror and vents to avoid bacterial growth.  Best of all, this holder protects from icky bathroom germs.

The products at Cupcake Cuddles are very affordable and if you are interested in finding a great deal, be sure to check out the gift sets!

January 23rd, 2010My Wee View Favs 2009: Dyson

The Dyson is by far my favourite item that I received for review in 2009.  Before receiving the Dyson, I thought that all vacuums sucked, but it turns out that the Dyson DC 24 really does suck, and never stops!  You can read the full review Dyson here.  The Dyson DC 24 is compact, and has the amazing roller ball for easy turning and a canister so there is no need for those annoying vacuum bags – just empty the canister and it’s ready to go again.

The Dyson is amazing! Upon our first use it sucked up so much dust and dirst from out house, it was embarrassing. But now that we are using it regularly our place is pretty clean.  The Dyson does more of a deep clean than other vacuum I have tested.  You can also use the Dyson DC 24 on tile and hardwood.

The Dyson is a MWV Fav of 2009!

If you have a Dyson & love it, write a review below.

January 23rd, 2010Go Jane

Not that I have any experience being a boy, but I love being a girl. Although, 90% of my time these days is spent in comfy clothes I used to really enjoy getting my hair and nails done and “getting pretty”. As the mother of an 11 month old those days are often few and far between. It’s a lot more effort these days to look polished but I do try to make an effort and I do enjoy a bit of glam and frills every now and again.

Every girls needs a bit of ooomph to their wardrobe, mine came in a cute little pair of black faux fur trim buckle boots I received for review from GoJane.com. Made from all man made materials, this boot has an extended faux fur cuff which was quite snuggly, a chunky heel and two buckles. The heel height is 3 inches and I was able to walk in them quite nicely. Although they are lined, there are no grips on the bottom so are ideal for the warmer weather. Priced quite reasonably at under $30, these boots come in black, brown and grey.

Along with their extensive collection of very trendy boots, GoJane.com has an amazing selection of shoes for all the shoe lovers out there. There are heels, wedges, flats…so many to choose from! I especially love how reasonably priced the shoes are; most range from $10-$40, great news for your closets ladies, can one really ever have too many shoes? While shoes are a great start to any wardrobe,  GoJane.com has a line of clothing that covers just about everything for the trendy shopper.

Shopping the designer inspired line for the fashion forward young woman is easy at  GoJane.com, there is a great selection of tanks, denims, tee shirts and skirts and dresses for every budget. The website is really easy to navigate; you can shop by style for every category. Browse through the classic tees and you can choose long sleeved, short sleeve, new and then sort by price.

Need something a little beyond casual wear?  GoJane.com has a super cute selection of swim and formal wear. I especially love their line of formal wear, I was amazed at the variety of styles and the chic designs ideal for  prom dresses, formal dresses for weddings, cocktail dresses and party dresses with prices to fit any budget. As with the other categories of clothing, you can shop by design. The  formal wear is subdivided by length; above the knee, mid length or floor length.

Don’t forget you accessories! GoJane.com has some adorable necklaces, purses and even eyeliner!

A beautiful selection of styles and colors to suit young ladies from top to toe, GoJane.com is the place to shop for fashion forward ladies, with great selection and great price, its an easy choice.

January 23rd, 2010Twirly Girl

When I was a small child I would tie heavy scarves to my head so that the length of them would run down my body.  To complete my outfit, I tied my housecoat’s arms around my waist so that the main fabric would flow like a train behind me.  Then I would spin and spin and spin, a whirling dervish knocking over my mother’s bric-a-brac, until I landed in a dizzy heap on the floor.  I loved the feel of the blood pooling in my fingertips and my head emptying of all cares as I imagined the centripetal force carrying me toward the sky.  I loved too the feel of my scarves and housecoat as they flew out in a wide berth around my body; I believed that one day I just might fly after all.

Twirly Girl’s founder, Cynthia Jammin, has brought these wonderful memories flooding back with her fashions for young girls.  The satiny Fab Fushia Bubbles Trapeze Dress and matching headscarf I received for review and her line of dresses and skirts billow with the slightest breeze and twirl of the girl.  But the fun does not stop there.  Twirly Girl has colour jam packed in every item, with fabulous print combinations that scream imagination and playfulness.  Twirly Girl’s selections are not for the fashion feint of heart, as they cater to exactly what little girls are made of.

Twirly Girl was inspired by Cynthia’s two daughters, who needed unique fashions that were both practical to run around in and beautiful enough to be admired.  Although this seems like an almost impossible order, Cynthia rose to the challenge and then added a design that allowed the clothing to twirl.  And if the wearer happens to get bored with the pattern, many of Twirly Girl’s fashions are reversible.  By the way, every piece of clothing is made by hand in Los Angeles.  Twirly Girl offers vibrant choices in dresses, skirts, leggings, jackets, pants, shorts, accessories, full outfits and a little something called Wings of Wonder (you MUST check these out!!!).  Of course, if you want, you could always create your own colour and pattern choices; Twirly Girl offers custom clothing.  The clothing is easily washed in cold water, lying flat to dry.

As an extra bonus, Twirly Girl donates a portion of their sales to The Center for NonViolent Education and Parenting, The Strongheart Fellowship Program and This American Life (I am a huge fan of this public radio show out of Chicago).

Twirly Girl’s website has a colouring book page, their own music and is in the process of making their own music video.

You can all probably see a common theme here for the My Wee View Favs of 2009.  Most of the items are stylish and functional, which is the same for this next great MWV Fav – Mrs. Smith Diaper Bags.  I had the opportunity to review the diaper bag during the Christmas Gift idea event, you can read the full review here.

What I love about the diaper bag is that there is a spot to put everything, I can find my daughters bottle, sookie, toys, diapers with my eyes closed.  Each item is stored in its own separate compartment, making them easy to find and keeping things neat and tidy. The bottle holders are even insulated, so it keeps your child’s milk cold for a long time.   The bag can also be carried as a backpack, and has a document holder section.   Mrs. Smith has thought about everything – including style.  The diaper bags are also super stylish, the one I received has mod pink dots.  Other styles include zebra, pearl, and an ultra cute brown with flowers.

Due to it’s function and fashion, Mrs. Smith is a MWV Fav of 2009!

Giveaway: To Celebrate being a MWV fav, one lucky winner is going to receive a diaper bag.

January 22nd, 2010My Wee View Favs 2009: Espe

One of my favourite sponsors that I have had the opportunity to work with this year is Espe.  I reviewed a number of wonderful items including wallets, purses, laptop bags, lunch bags and card holders.  All of the items that I received from Espe are my favourite (I’m not kidding, it’s impossible to chose just one).  I use them nearly everyday.  I bring my lunch bag to work, alternate my purses, use the wallets, and have my business cards in the card holder.  The bright colours of Espe and the cute patterns really stand out in a crowd, and people know right away that it’s Espe.  I get the most amount of compliments on the beautiful Seasons purse with the little flowers decal, it is just so adorable.

Some of the best things about Espe are:  they are made in Canada and although they look and feel like leather, they are actually made with polyurethane.  Due to all these wonderful factors, Espe is a MWV fav of 2009!

January 22nd, 2010Thank You

Thank you to all my wonderful faithful readers and other bloggers,,, your emails have been truly been appreciated – I guess those of you who read regularly - you really do know me.

Just want to clarify a few things about my writers – I don’t want to throw them under the bus,,, or tell you all that I have taken them out back and given them each 40 lashes,,, no, this is not how I operate.  I take blame at perhaps not explaining well enough to my writers (newbies to mommy blogging) how thorough I review products.  By the time I’m done with the review products, they have been used by my family regularly,  and are often in good used condition to giveaway to friends – and I have.

Now moving forward, MWV is undergoing some policy and procedure reviews and some changes.

If you are a sponsor that has worked with MWV and have any questions, please contact me at info@myweeview.

On a personal note,,, if you belong to many Facebook Pages, I would suggest making sure you know what’s going on there,,, I just went through mine, and deleted over 1/2 my friends and groups, there were just too many to keep up with.

I consider this matter now closed.

Thanks again,

BabyKakesink is one of my favourite personalized items that I received this year for review for my daughter.  These adorable onesies and tees are the most stunning items I have come across (for a onesie).  There are so many different styles of onesies and tees for your little ones, but none (and I repeat none) are as adorable as BabyKakesink.  These alpha tees come with an adorable  ribbon belt and bow, the bow can actually be taken off the shirt and be worn in the hair later on.

Genevieve has received an endless amount of compliments while wearing her BabyKakesink onesie.  It is just so special!  It also makes me feel great to have her in this personalized outfit, because I know my daughter is special enough to look “this good”.

Due to how completely adorable this personalized outfit from BabyKakesink is, it is by far a MWV fav of 2009!

Giveaway: One lucky MWV reader is going to win a personalized tee or onesie from BabyKakesink.

To Enter: Visit BabyKakesink and make a comment back here about what you would pick.
