What Moms Really Want for Mother’s Day

Hey Moms,

What do you really want this Mother’s Day?  Here are a few of my special requests:

  • Alone bathroom time – this includes no one banging on the door or screaming from another room
  • A day without whining – from everyone, including me
  • Uninterrupted sleep – 4 hours is fine, 5 would be a miracle

That pretty much sums it up!  Not a difficult list, but highly unlikely to happen in the next 18 years.

For something a little more tangible this Mother’s Day, how about a gift basket with Mom in mind?  I’ve been enjoying the Cover Girl Jumbo Lip Gloss, Cover Girl Clump Crusher Mascara and the Pantene shampoo and conditioner (and I may or may not also use their hair colour….). While it’s not always possible for us Mom’s to get out to take special care of ourselves, this little basket can help with a mini special “me day” at home (there’s even a lovely smelling Febreze candle if you can get some alone time in the tub to light it).

I may be a bit cynical when it comes to what I really want for Mother’s Day and am partially joking.  Being a Mom is absolutely the best job in the entire world.  I love being a Mom and am so pleased that I have the opportunity to be a Mother to two beautiful children.   While they may drive me bananas now and then (or every day), I wouldn’t change anything.   It’s the most “rewarding” job I’ve ever had.  The rewards come as kisses, smiles, “I Love Yous” and proud moments.

  1. Agree with Andrea C.!!! Also, a nap with no interruptions! And maybe a free babysitter for a date with Daddy!

  2. I think they want a day off where someone else makes breakfast, lunch and dinner. A good excuse to get takeout. And they still get time with their family.

  3. I’d like a hand-made card from my boy and someone else to prepare the dinner.
    Thanks!

  4. Truly, Time with My Boys. A Picnic/BBQ and goofing around in the park. Simple but True!

  5. She would probably love her nails done and/or a day at a spa. Finish it all off having dinner with all the grand kids.

  6. I would love to have a nice dinner out with the family, and some flowers and chocolate maybe 😉

  7. To really put a bang on our spring cleaning with everyone in the family being involved with positive attitudes. Then dinner out a hot bath and some hot …!

  8. What I really want is someone else to cook and do the dishes, and everyone to pick up after themselves.

  9. My Mom always says not to spend money on her, because all she really wants is an entire day to spend with her children. We leave our phones in a basket at the front door (or in the car) and simply spend time with one another. It means SO much more to her than any materialistic gift we could ever buy! 🙂

  10. I’m having dinner with my daughter and what I really want is for her to leave her cell phone in the car!

  11. I got what I really wanted! A family weekend (hiking, playing, cooking, just being together), flowers (potted, cut and seeds!). Just the best mother’s day ever!

  12. I would love a day with no cleaning/cooking to be done, just spending time with our family doing something together.

  13. 4 hours of alone time, I would watch a movie for 2 hours and then have a 2 hour nap…ahhh what a dream 🙂

  14. I’d love a day just to nap, read, go for a walk, watch some tv, and catch up on my favorite blogs.

  15. I told my kids I really wanted to take a looooong bath and a nap, too! However, they decided to take me to the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival which THEY really wanted to visit 🙂 However, they were so cute that I was trying to look very amused and in the end, it was a very well spent time with the whole family. So really, spending some quality time with them is really the biggest gift they could ever give me! That’s why we regularly visit those events and festivals listed above, they always offer something new to see and include fun with my loved ones.

  16. Quiet. But seeing as how that didn’t happen, lots of drooly toddler kisses and sweet l love you’s from my preschooler where great!
