Banana Boat Natural Reflect Kids Sunscreen – 25 Reviewers

With sunnier days here, we’re playing outside every single day.  Riding bikes, at the park, hop scotch, going for walks – we spend a lot of time outside.  To make sure our kids do not get burnt from the sun, we lather them up with sunscreen.  We spent 6 weeks south this winter and we trusted Banana Boat Kids to keep their skin burn free.  As long we were diligent the kids were fine.  I have to admit it was harder in Cuba than in Florida because we spent hours and hours and hours splashing in the pool and soaking in the ocean so we had to reapply countless times throughout the day and sometimes we went a little too long between applications.  #oops #MomFail #MomTruth

When Banana Boat asked me if I wanted to review their newest product, Natural Reflect , I agreed as I already feel confidant about their products.  The new Banana Boat Reflect seems to be just as thick as the other products we have used, has a similar light scent, is gentle on my child’s skin and has SPF 50.  Some sunscreens are SPF 60 (and even 100) and I do like to use the highest SPF possible, so I would like to see this new product have a bit higher SPF.  Not that I’m a professional when it comes to UV and sun rays, but mostly for my own personal comfort I’d like see a higher number (It’s a mental thing, not that I’m mental… but … ugh… this isn’t going well, is it?).  In the end, I suppose all that matters is that my kid doesn’t get burnt and with Banana Boat this has been achieved (as long as I do my part and apply as needed).  We haven’t had any days that have tested this product to it’s absolute fullest, but I’m sure when summer hits we will have plenty opportunities (Let me rephrase that…. we better have plenty of opportunities).

Even on cloudy days it’s important to wear sunscreen.  Just because we can’t see the sun, doesn’t mean UV isn’t getting through the clouds.  I try to ensure my child wears a hat and screen screen when we go outside, it can take as little as 15 minutes to get burnt, a chance I’m not willing to take on them.

  1. Sun care is so important. Finding the product that is right for my kids has been a challenge. I’d like to review this!

  2. Yes, I’ve had some really bad sunburns but that when I was a teen and too cool for sunscreen.

  3. Good point about those overcast/cloudy days ….. Those seem to be when I’ve burned shoulders just puttering around in the garden. this is our first summer with a pool and I hope it becomes second nature for the kids to apply (and reapply) sunscreen each and every time we go out.

  4. Oh yes. I am very fair skinned, redheaded, and freckled (as is my son). Sunburns come hand in hand with summer for me.

  5. OMGosh YES. Every summer, even though I apply sunscreen religiously. I am very very very very fair and can burn in about 2 minutes in the sun, and 3 of my 5 kids are extremely pale as well.

  6. YES! I forget how hot the sun can be after a long winter – my girls have olive skin (thanks to Daddy) and I always remember to put sunblock on them but forget on me.

  7. I have been sun burnt way more times then I can count… the most recent being last weekend 🙁

  8. Yes, generally in the spring but then a good base tan sets in and I’m good for the rest of the summer.

  9. I don’t usually burn at all! That being said, I burned horribly in Jamaicia while in the water and in a small tin boat up north. Since then, the worst areas I was burnt (chest & shoulders) are very susceptible to burns and usually catch me by surprise.

  10. I am blonde and fair so the sun is never my friend! I once feel asleep in the Caribbean sun for 2 hours – I had the worst sunburn, I was peeling for weeks!

  11. Yes, I fell asleep out in the sun as a teenager and looked like a lobster when I woke up it was very painful from what I remember.
