Become a Field Agent – $50 Visa Gift Card

Have you ever wanted to be an undercover agent? Sounds intriguing doesn’t it? Well, you most certainly can with the Field Agent App. What is a Field Agent? It’s a person that goes into stores with a mission – taking pictures, asking questions, purchasing products or just makes observations and then creates a report on their findings. The fun part is, you get paid to be a Field Agent.

My husband has been a Field Agent for a number of months now, and really enjoys the mini challenges he has to complete. Here are a few examples:

  • During the Olympics he accepted a mission to walk around Walmart to find Olypmic themed displays and report back on the app – that’s it.
  • A few weeks ago he acceped a mission to visit Tim Horton’s to order a new Panini, he had to answer questions such as how long did the order take and if they got his order right
  • He once had at mission a Shoppers where he simply had to take a picture of a special display and report back – this can be rather difficult while trying to be discrete as other shoppers are walking around the store.

Each mission is paid and can be anywhere from $2 up to $50. If the missions are in places you already visit or happen to be at, the extra money for a quick mission seems like a no brainer. Genereally, my husband says most missions are around the $3 – $13 mark, but it can mean a free lunch (like from Tim Hortons – his Favourtie place) so it’s worth it.

To become a Field Agent, you first have to Download the Canadian Field Agent App. Most of the missions are posted right on the app, but once in a while you may also receive an email (well, this is how it works in Halifax anyway). You can accept a mission and then get on your way to completing it. As soon as you finish the job, with pictures or writing your review it gets submitted and approved and the money goes into your Field Agent account straight away. You can cash out through their website at any time and your money will end up in Paypal.

Here’s a quick example:

My husband really likes using the app, he frequently tells me about the missions he’s accepted (especially the Tim Horton’s ones) or about the missions he has missed and would have liked to partake in. There are only a certain number of participants for each mission so it’s important to check the app regularly so you don’t miss out on any opportunities.

Stay Healthy this Winter

Winter has arrived, we had a few flurries the other day and tonight we are expecting 4 cm’s.  With the cooler weather comes sickness, as I’ve mentioned before kids are probably the number 1 way to get sick.  So how do you teach your kids to keep healthy when they are out and about?

Here are a few tips:

  • The biggest tip is to wash your hands, I actually made a full post just on hand washing because it’s so important.  Wash regularly, with soap and make sure to scrub.
  • Germs are easily spread by sneezing, teach your kids to sneeze into their elbow rather than their hands (if no tissues are available).  There is less of a chance for those germs to spread via elbows rather than hands.
  • Noses also run ramped during the wintery season, make sure to have tissue near by at all times.  Otherwise, kids will use their hands, fingers, toys and anything else they can find to wipe their snotty noses and then continue to play with their friends.
  • While sharing is important, remind your children that it’s not ok to share drinks or anything else that has touched their or their friends mouth or anyone else’s.
  • Educate your own kids.  While we can teach our own kids on ways to keep germs to a minimum, we also have to teach them to be aware of what their friends are doing.   Give your kids extra tissue for their friends, remind your kids to tell their friends to wash their hands.  If your child’s friend is sick, remind  your child to try to keep their distance and to wash their hands after they have been playing with their sick friend.
  • Eat and apple a day – I’ve just heard really good things about it!
If the flu bug does make it into your home, make sure to rest up, drink lots of fluids and continue washing your hands.  My daughter had a cold a few weeks back and I was positive I too was going to end up sick.  Being pregnant my immune system is a little more venerable.  I washed my hands with every nose wipe and sneeze and came away “clean”.
Good luck this winter season and I hope with some of these tips, your family will stay healthy.
What are your tips?

Enjoy Christmas with Disney Junior

December is almost here – just a few days away.  While I love the holidays, I also like this time to go by really slow so I can enjoy each and every moment.  This season Disney Junior has all kinds of fun things for  your kids (and your family) to enjoy the holidays.

Here are just some of the things you can enjoy and expect to see on Disney Junior and the Disney Junior Website.

If you’re looking for Christmas themed shows, here’s what they have planned – starting this weekend.

  • December 1: Mickey’s Once upon a Christmas @ 11am EST
  • December 8: Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas Premier @ 11am EST
  • December 15: The Santa Buddies @11am EST
There is also going to be a new Jake and the Neverland Pirates Episode each of these Saturdays, it may not be holiday themed, but I know how much the kids LOVE Jake, so thought it was worth mentioning as well.

If you also would like to have some online fun, your little one can make a Disney Junior Holiday eCard.  If you used this feature last year you will notice there’s new designs and characters!  Super easy to use and the possibilities are pretty much endless.  Here’s a quick card I made, the snowman is participating in Movember.

There are also some online games that your kids can enjoy.  Hook’s Merry Winter Treasure Hunt and I See a Sea of Snowflakes – a great matching game.

There are also Holiday themed printables for colouring for a few minutes of quiet time.

Enjoy Disney Junior this month with all it’s Christmasy themes!  I know we will be.   The PVR will probably get an extra work out this year.

Playtex Diaper Genie Elite (10 Winners)

It’s hard to believe I’m going to shortly be in diaper mode again.  Last time around I mostly cloth diapered, but there were times when I also used disposables – especially when the baby was first born, over nights and when Princess got a bit older.  Is there anything worse than a trash can full of diapers?  Well, I’m sure a few things could be worse, but we don’t really want to think of them.  There’s no doubt dirty diapers are pretty high on the list.  So, what’s one to do with all those diapers? A diaper Genie of course.

I did have a Diaper Genie last time around, and nearly everyone I know has received one as a gift for a shower or went out and bought one on their own.  Why?  Cause they are super easy to use and they seal up all those stinky diapers.  With the push of a foot pedal each diaper gets sealed off in it’s own little trash bag, when the trash bags are gone, dump, fill the top with a Diaper Genie refill and you’re ready to go again.   Easy, Peasy Lemon Squeezy.  No mess, no fuss and no smell (best part)!

With baby 2 on the way, I’ll see how this one compares to the “old version” from 2008.

Want to try one yourself?  Here’s your chance with a little fun twist for you too!

The winners (yes winners, there will be 10) will be asked to write their own review (in the comments sections below) and then will also be entered into a $50 draw to Babies R Us.  Fun eh?

Ice Age Continental Drift on Blu-Ray and DVD

Ice Age Continental Drift is hitting on December 11th – just over 2 weeks away (yikes)!

Here’s a synopsis:

Sub-zero heroes Manny, Diego, and Sid embark upon a high-seas adventure after their continent is set adrift. Using an iceberg as a ship, they encounter sea creatures and battle pirates as they try to reunite with their herd. In the wake of these upheavals, Sid reunites with his cantankerous Granny, and the herd encounters a ragtag menagerie of seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home.

I brought Princess to this movie back in the summer.  My Mom who typically takes care of my daughter was on vacation, so I was ready to be the best Stay At Home Mom ever.  So, we went for a movie date.  The only movie in theatres at the time was Ice Age Continental Drift.  We bought popcorn, juice and I got chocolate – it was a mom and daughter day and it was going to be amazing.

Little did I know that Ice Age is actually rated PG, I would have never known better, the rest of the children in the theatre were Princess’ age and younger.  We sat and watched the previews, which were complete not appropriate for kids, but because the movie is PG, the trailer previews were also rated PG.  Needless to say, the Hobbit isn’t exactly appropriate for a 4 year old.  I tried covering her eyes, and distracting her, but no luck, the fear seed had been planted.

Eventually the movie started (after a few more “scary” trailers) and Princess already wanted to leave. I convinced her to stay and watch the movie, but it didn’t last too long.  Ice Age Continental Drift is funny, Ray Romano is always good for a laugh and that little squirrel is great for comic relief as well.  But the laughs did not save this movie for Princess this time.  There are mean pirates that capture the heros and they are scary and mean.  So, needless to say we eventually left the theatre never to find out what happened in the very end.

So much for Mom of the year, I should have really checked the rating before going to the film.  I thought Ice Age was be a G rated movie, but it’s not (there were a few words used in the film I wasn’t exactly pleased with either), and it truly is my mistake.

I’d say this movie is more for tweens, definitely a child older than 4.

In any case, I learned a few life lessons that day:

1. Always check the movie ratings

2. Don’t put your hopes up too high for everything to be perfect cause your setting yourself up for failure.
