Pillsbury Chocolatey Crescents

by Mommy on October 2, 2012

I’m not much of a baker or a cooker – I’m sure I’ve mentioned that once or twice.  I can use all the help I can get in the kitchen.  I try to make things and they mostly work out really good, but I lack imagination and perhaps confidence when it comes to cooking.  I know very little about spices and really find it hard to think of amazing meals to throw together.  The good news for me, is that my husband isn’t one that like fancy smancy and although he can be picky, he likes simple things.

On some occasions “Baking” in our home consists of opening a package of Crescent Rolls, twirling them into a a croissant shape.  I know, it’s not much, but man those little things are packed with flavour and are always gone from the baking pan nearly before I can take them out of the oven.  They are So delicious.

As part of the Life Made Delicious blogger program, I have the opportunity to test out a few things as soon as they hit the shelf.  I recently had the chance to try out the Pillsbury Chocolatey Crescents, and seeing as chocolate is one of my favourite snack foods and I know how much I love the original Crescent Rolls, I thought these would be a no brainer.

There were a few things that were different about these Chocolate Crescent Rolls that we noticed right away.  The dough must have been much fresher as it was easier to unroll from the original package, and we also noticed there were 4 small rolls and 4 large rolls.  It could have just been my package, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

These require a bit more prep than the originals, basically you have to squirt the chocolate into the center of the crescent and then add chocolate swirls once they are cooked.  I was eager to try one, and well I have to say I think we all agree in our home that the originals are tastier than the chocolate ones.  They are pretty yummy, but like many things, nothing is better the originals.  I’ve seen some bloggers mention they were thinking of adding a fruity center and this would probably make them even more yummy, but I haven’t tried it myself yet.
