What to do with All These Apples?

It’s apple picking season! Last weekend, hubster and I (along with a bunch of friends and their kids) all went down to Noggins Farm to pick our own apples!  When I came home with the largest bag of apples, I wasn’t sure what to do with all of them.  So, I asked some readers and got online to look for easy recipes (key word here – easy).

Baked Apples: (from All Recipies.com) 

  • 4 tart green apples
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

This was super easy.  Just core the apples, stick the ingredients into the apples and bake at 350 for 15 – 20 minutes.   (I also added pecans and boiled water to the bottom of the pan).

Verdict – yum!

Apple Crisp: (from Noggins Farm)

  • 4-6 apples, thinly sliced
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup butter
  • cinnamon optional

Also super easy.  I actually used more like 8 apples and added pecans again (cause I have a huge bags of them which will probably last my baking lifetime).   “Place sliced apples in baking pan. Combine brown sugar, rolled oats, flour and cinnamon. Cut in butter. Sprinkle mixture over apples. Bake at 350°F for 35-40 minutes. Serve hot with whipped cream or ice cream.” (assuming you’re not lactose)

Verdict – Double Yum!
