Are you kids potty trained yet? Mine has been for a long time now – hip hip hurray! But the potty woe’s are far from over – at least they used to be. After visiting my cousin’s house, potty time has not been the same…. she introduced me into something that would change our potty routine and make this Mom (and Dad) very happy.
I’m sure you’ve all used these things… those plastic potties you can carry around with you and place on top of the toilet seat. Princess I Absolutely Need This To Use The Potty was obsessed with that thing, and it wasn’t exactly pretty. The plastic rubber things on the bottom were falling off and the seat itself was starting to come apart. I’d also say it’s not exactly hygienic, and she’s been seen wearing that thing on her head. We struggled with that little seat, ’cause she needed to use it, but refused to put it on the seat herself – she just couldn’t get it right.
So, what was it that my cousin introduced me to? The BEMIS NextStep seat cover. This little miracle, is an adult and child seat all in one. When Princess I Have To Go Potty, needs to go, she can put down the small seat, when Mom and Dad need to go, we lift up the small seat and tada there’s an adult seat waiting. Everything is magnetic, so the small seat stays in place while it’s not being used. How awesome is that?
Now that Princess I Have An Emergency and Have To Go Potty NOW can take care of her own seat, we can let her go to the potty, put the seat down herself and then she even washes her hands – Life is Good. It has serisously made our lives easier.
How’s potty training going for you? Any tips, or tricks that have made your life easier?

I had something very similar to this as a child (well, decades ago now
It was simple and cheap and it worked. So I thought about it as my first and only option for my son, but we were unlucky to choose elongated toilets for our house and no child seat fits on them properly and securely. When we finally found what we were looking for from the same company that made our toilets, I could not believe the price! $60+ shipping + who knows how much in other charges (because it has to be ordered directly from the company in the US). For 3 pieces of plastic and 2 bolts!!!
Ira, they do have the elongated ones as well. I’m not sure how expensive they are… they are at Home Depot!
Hmm, I’ll need to check them out. This is the problem of the day for us and it would be nice to have it solved now
Thanks a lot for the info, Lynette!
