We’re in the thick of summer. The days are long, the sun is out and it means we’re outside every minute possible. We just recently moved into a new home, and the people that lived here before us…. weren’t exactly “clean” shall we say. We had to scrub this place from top to bottom as soon as we moved in. Since the days are so beautiful, we are now spending our time fixing up the outside.
We’ve done a lot of work to this place so far – it was needed. Resurfaced the driveway, cleaned up the flower beds, trimmed and thinned out the jungle that was growing in the back yard. We’ve enjoyed spending the time outside, getting this place together. The biggest job hubster was going to tackle was the driveway, the asphalt was turning grey and it looked extremely dull. He was going to roll on the tar all by himself, but thankfully a nice man stopped by with an automatic sprayer and did it for us. It was $100, but totally worth the 15 minutes it too to get our driveway looking fresh and new. I highly recommend hiring professionals to do jobs like this – unless your husbands profession is tarring driveways, then I’d trust him to do it. Mine is a computer guru, so let’s just say his tarring skills haven’t exactly been put to the test yet, and I’m ok if we keep it that way.
To give you a quick example of some of the cleaning we’ve had to do, here are a few beautiful pictures of what the place looked like…
Here’s the basement carpet…
And the stairs…
And here’s the central… as you can see, I don’t think it’s been changed once since the old owners moved in 4 years ago (when the house was built). It’s filled to the brim… still with drywall… yikes.
We’ll continue on our cleaning frenzie, hopefully getting our place to a spot that we are happy with… if that is ever possible with a nearly 4 year old running around outside while we’re at it.
