Fiber1 – Brownies & Giveaway – Closed

I am a Life Made Delicious (a word I can never spell without spell checker) Blogger!  Every other month, I’m going to bring you some fun and extremely easy recipes (cause that’s just the way I roll).  As well as recipes, there will also be a chance to test out some brand spanking new products.  This month, my mouth was drooling over the new Fiber1 Brownies.  I am a huge fan of the Fiber1 bars, and I am in love with Chocolate, so I was pumped to to get some chocolate goodness with only 110 calories and a bit of help from the fiber (I am pregnant don’t forget).

The day the box arrived, I just came home from work and was famished (I’m eating for 2, my tummy always feels empty), I opened the package, took a bite and was…. well disappointed in more ways then one.   First, I didn’t like the bars – at all! So, I tried the other Fiber1 products I was sent and sure enough, none of them seemed to work.  I automatically knew something was wrong, and then my preggo brain clicked in… I’m pregnant, nothing tastes right, not even regular chocolate bars.   So, I was also disappointed that it will be a whole 6 months before I may be able to enjoy these browines at all.   I asked hubster and Mommy if they liked the bars and they both enjoyed them, it’s just the poor pregnant lady, who would enjoy the chocolate more than anyone that doesn’t seem to like them – boo for me.

I also received the Nature Valley Peanut Butter Thins (90 calories), and was able to enjoy them – somewhat.  I just recently learned peanut butter is on my do not eat list this pregnancy, I feel nauseous every time I eat it.  So, this one wasn’t a hit for me either.

If you want to try these products out for yourself (and I encourage you to), you can get a free coupon on the Life Made Delicious (there’s that word again, I’m sure I’ll get it soon enough) Facebook page until July 3rd.  You have to download it before the 3rd and then can use it in store on July 24th!

Enjoy!

Shopping with the Wee Ones

Happy End of school season!  My little one isn’t in school just yet, so she doesn’t quite understand summer vacation, but I sure know and appreciate the long summer days.  On top of all the excitement of the warmer weather, we also just bought and moved into a new house which means lots of shopping (oh darn).

When you go shopping what do you do?  Bring the little ones along with you or keep them at home with someone else?  We generally like to bring Princess I Need to Be Entertained Every Minute of Everyday with us on shopping trips.  Whether we are shopping for groceries, summer toys or for our new house.

When shopping, I like to encourage Princess I Want Everything In the Store to help Mommy pick things out, be a good girl and when were done she can pick out a special treat for herself.  Sometimes, it might be 2 or 3 stores before she gets her special item, but she makes sure to make it count at the end of our shopping trips.  I think rewards for good behaviour are a great way to encourage your kids to be respectful, listen and behave.  It’s very rare that I will take Princess I Want I Want I Want to the store simply to pick up toys for her, it will usually be in conjunction with items Dad and I also need.

There are times however, when Princess I can’t Control Myself  acts less then desirable and we wont go home with a new dress, a pack of gum, bubbles, side walk chalk or ice cream.  I do believe children need to be held accountable for their actions and if they can’t keep their end of their bargain up, then there is no special treat this shopping trip.

It seems that her favourite summer choices for her good girl shopping trips are new summer dresses.  Twirling in a summer dress is endless hours of cute fun in the sun.

Energizer Free Their Imagination – PIN: Create

With a 3 year old at home, I know what sort of imagination kids are capable of having.  I recently announced my pregnancy to Princess  Wild Imagination.  At first, she was set on having a baby sister, no questions asked.  However after weeks of letting her know the baby may be a boy, she has finally accepted the fact that she may not have a baby sister at all.  In fact, we had a little conversation that went something like this:

Princess Wild Imagination: “Mommy, you have a baby in your tummy, it might be a baby girl, and it might be a baby boy or it might be a baby kitty”.

I’ll have a lot of explaining to do if it’s a baby kitty.

Either way, it’s just an example of how imaginative kids can actually be.  I could write a book about some of the creative things she does and says each day.

Crayola and Energizer are celebrating creative kids with the Energizer Free Their Imagination contest.

Starting today until October 1st, there will be over 2000 Crayola prizes to be given away on their Facebook page every single hour.

For my readers, here is your special PIN Code for a bonus entry: Create

As I’ve grown up, my creativity seems to have left me, not that I could ever really draw or come up with amazing ideas, but once upon a time I did have some brilliant moments!  I find when I get right into it with my daughter, with scissors, glue, paint, stickers and sparkles, together we can make some creative masterpieces and have lots of fun doing it together, which is what counts the most.   Right now, we are all about making “Love Cards”.

Stella & Sam App & Contest

Did you know that Stella and Sam is a great Canadian production?  It airs in both French and English, and while we watch the show in English, when it comes to playing online games at Disney Junior, Princess I Love to Talk and Learn seems to always want to play in French.  So, in our home, we’re used to “Stella et Sacha”.  Actually, of all the online games on Disney Junior, the Stella et Sacha ones are played more often than any other.  They are challenging but achievable.

The newest Stella et Sacha online fun is also a contest where your kid’s creativity could end up in one of the shows!  10 lucky kids are going to have their art featured on the Stella and Sam Marathon July 1st and also receive a gift pack with Stella & Sam books, apps, DVDs and a music CD.  How exciting!

Here’s how to Enter:

  • Visit the new Stella and Sam Draw Along Contest until June 22nd
  • Create and colour a very special drawing for a chance to win a spot on the July 1st episode
  • It’s just that easy

For every person who enters the contest there is also a free downloadable “Draw Along iPad app”.

Also this week on Disney Junior (I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials), it’s Look for Hook week!  And a very special episode will be airing June 22nd at 5:10 “Captain Hook is Missing”.

Our Wee Home is Expanding

I truly never thought I would be posting these 3 words ever again, but  “We Are Pregnant”! Yup, that’s right, I don’t think anyone is more surprised than my husband and I.

I had finally decided to put it behind me, and move on with our life.  I signed up for a 1/2 marathon, decided on a reduction and even started going through the baby stuff I was hoarding.  We also bought a new house, which I am now thinking it going to be too small, but thankfully babies are just little (although they come with a lot of packaging).

While we’re super pumped to be parents again, I am extremely sick.  I’ll save you the details, but all I’ve pretty much been able to do it lay in bed and eat crackers (if my head hasn’t been in the toilet).  I’m trying to keep up with deadlines for blogging, but in case you haven’t noticed, posts have been minimal, and my Twitter account and Facebook updates have been nearly non existent.

I’m hoping this will all pass soon enough. Last time the nausea went away around 7 months and then heart burn kicked in so I have something to look forward to…

According to my calculations, I’m nearly at the 3 month mark and baby is due January 1st, 2013.

So, please bear with me as the posts are slow coming.

BBQ Chicken Recipes & BBQ Set Giveaway – Closed

Is there anything better than BBQ season? It is my favourite (Well, next to chocolate, but that’s a given).  There is nothing that tastes and smells as nice a BBQ.  While burgers and dogs are generally popular, don’t forget chicken is just as easy and yummy on the grill.  If you are looking for some fun, delish and easy ways to get creative this summer, check out a few of these fab recipes.

My number 1 chicken recipe without a doubt is Beer Can Chicken.  I am not a beer drinker, in fact, I truly dislike beer.  I promise, this mouth watering chicken tastes nothing like beer and actually makes the chicken juicy, moist and tender.   You will be surprised how amazing Beer Can Chicken tastes – try it and let me know.

Here are some other recipes I am hoping to make this summer:

Butter and Wine Basted Chicken

Tequila Marinated Chicken with Corn, Rice and Black Beans (reminds me when I studied abroad in Mexico)

Gin and Tonic Kabobs with Mint and Tabouleh (I’m noticing a theme here, but I love love love Tabouleh)

Grilled Chicken Pizza Marghertia (I’ve never even thought of putting a pizza on the BBQ, but why not?)

Giveaway:

  • To get you excited for BBQ season, Chicken Farmers has a giveaway for you, a full BBQ grilling set.  It’s pretty sweet, complete with a silver carrying case, I’d post a picture, but we’ve packed it… we’re moving in a week.
