Earth Day – Only once a year?

Stork Craft

The sun is shining, spring is in the air and I think we are all glad to say the warmer weather is finally here to stay. April is an exciting month because there are many special occasions to celebrate. Whether it is Easter, Passover or Earth Day we should all have a reason to jump up and down, because it’s finally Spring!

Earth Day is a “new” holiday, at least it has been in my family.  While we have done our share to help the environment for many years, I never really knew there was a full day dedicated to it.  I hope most people do more than just just take take of the earth on a single day in a year.  Our little family tries to do our part for the environment.  Simple things like carpooling, and using reusable travel mugs are easy, daily things we do for the environment can make a big difference.  So even though Earth Day has come and gone, it’s important to make everyday Earth Day.

Last year, we went one step further, we made a veggie garden.  This year, we’re trying again.  Learning from our mistakes (planting the seeds too closely), we’re hopefully this year will be more of a success.  This year, we’re getting serious!

While the dirt alone probably cost more than the the garden will reap, it’s more of a learning experience for the kids (and the parents) to see how food is made and there is also a lot of pleasure in growing a garden – so I’m told.

If you’re looking for more ways to reduce, reuse and recycle, and be eco-friendly year ’round, check out this section of the Fisher Price website.

On another note: Fisher Price also has some other exciting news for all the Little People fans, a new Little People show on Treehouse on weekend morning at 9am EST.

  1. It’s good to teach kids where their food comes from and how important our environment is 🙂
