The Muppets on DVD & Blu-Ray

The Muppets made their first TV debut in 1975, here we are 37 years later, they are still going strong and back on the big screen with another hit movie.

Here’s a Synopsis:

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, his brother Gary (Jason Segel) and Gary’s girlfriend, Mary (Amy Adams), from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze Muppet Studios and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage a telethon and raise the $10 million needed to save the studio, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have allgone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.

I had the opportunity to watch this in theatres last November and all I could say was “clever, very clever”.  Everything about this movie is incredibly clever.  It’s all about the comeback. Where have they been? What have they been up to? While we all grew up with Kermit and the gang the younger generation probably has no idea who the Muppets are… the movie covers all that too.

I recently sat down with my family for a movie night, this time, Hubster, Princess I Love Baby Kermit, and I all had the chance to watch together.  I wasn’t sure how Princess I Find it Hard To Sit Still for Long Periods of Time was going to enjoy the film.  To my surprise, she watched the whole thing – amazing.  As for my husband, he was actually looking forward to family movie night.  He usually sits through other family friendly movies and enjoys the company (myself and his lovely daughter), but not the movie.  I heard him give genuine laughs during The Muppets and when it was over he said “Well, that was really good”.

Afterwards, Hubster and Princess I’m a Girl, were singing “Am I am Man or a Muppet” together, way too cute.  This was a sure way to know the movie was a hit for everyone.

There are a lot of famous actors in this movie too making it even that more entertaining.   It comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray March 20th.  It’s a must watch.

  1. It’s hard to pick my favourite Muppet, I’m torn between Miss Piggy (and her hilarious roundhouse kicks) and Animal (my youngest son reminds me of him). We haven’t had a chance to see this movie yet, but are Muppet enthusiasts through and through.

  2. Ms. Piggy is so spastic yet glamorous–what’s not to love about her? 🙂 Thanks for this sweet giveaway. I love the Muppets!

  3. I was never huge on the Muppets, but my hubby loves them. If I had to pick I would say probably Beaker is my favorite.

  4. My favorite Muppet ever has to be Fozzie Bear. He has it all, charm, wit, looks, and the sense of humor that everyone can relate to. As well as one of the best catchphrase ever waka waka waka !!!!! So good

  5. The Swedish Chef has always been a favourite. My Grandma was Swedish, and always got such a kick out of him. Made her laugh and laugh.

  6. Agreed, it was a great comeback & very clever. The music was great & ‘Man or muppet’ deserved that Oscar 🙂 My favourite muppet hmm probably Beaker (not sure
I spent that right) & miss piggy was good in the movie too

  7. My favorite Muppet character is Miss Piggy. I love how she always speaks up for herself. As a shy kid, that meant so much to me to see a female character take charge and be herself. I will always love Miss Piggy for that.

  8. My favorite muppet has always been Miss Piggy. I remember when I was little having a Miss Piggy puppet.. I have a lot of memories of watching the muppets when I was little with my sister. Would love to win this for my kids. We didn’t get the chance to see it in the theater when it was out.
