RobinGood on DVD

While we may not always get enough veggies in our tummy, we sure get a good dose of them on video through VeggieTales – ok, I know a little cheesy (which happens to be dairy), but very true.  VeggieTales are a very popular movie selection in our home, and the latest DVD RobinGood is no exception.

Here’s a synopsis:

In this Veggie-version of the classic tale, Larry the Cucumber stars as Robin Good, a fearless man who roves the town of Bethlingham with his band of merry men to help people by fundraising from the rich and giving to the poor!  But when a greedy Prince starts stealing the townspeople’s hams, donations are down and Robin’s friends take off and decide to give robbing from the rich a try. 

Feeling rejected, Robin thinks things can’t get any worse, until he finds out that the ham-hoarding Prince has also captured his friends. Can Robinovercome his own hurt, rescue his friends and restore the townspeople’s hope?  

A story of faith, strength, and friendship, this timeless tale will warm the hearts of children everywhere!

Nearly every time I watch the VeggieTales, I learn a little something, and other times I learn a lot.  It just so happened when I sat down to watch this espisode of VeggieTales with Princess You Have to Sit Right Next To Me To Watch Movies, I must have been feeling pretty down.  It was my birthday recently, and I must have been feeling old, or just looking old – most likely exhausted and completely drained and wondering how I was going to get through the rest of the day (it might have only been 10am) or even the movie.  Of course, a cool cucumber and his bright red tomato friend come to rescue a 32 year old from their woes.

The movie actually comes with 2 films; surprisingly, I enjoyed the first episode about a missed birthday more than RobinGood.  The story line and the moral were a little more simple to follow.  The jest of the story was this: although you may be feeling low right now, it will pass, and your Mom always loves you.  So no matter if I’m 32 now and getting old, my Mom will always love me and this too will pass.  Because guess what, next year when I turn 33, I’ll be saying.. “Jeepers, I wish I was 32, 32 wasn’t that bad.”

So, thank you Veggie Tales, for a bit of a reality check.
