RobinGood on DVD

While we may not always get enough veggies in our tummy, we sure get a good dose of them on video through VeggieTales – ok, I know a little cheesy (which happens to be dairy), but very true.  VeggieTales are a very popular movie selection in our home, and the latest DVD RobinGood is no exception.

Here’s a synopsis:

In this Veggie-version of the classic tale, Larry the Cucumber stars as Robin Good, a fearless man who roves the town of Bethlingham with his band of merry men to help people by fundraising from the rich and giving to the poor!  But when a greedy Prince starts stealing the townspeople’s hams, donations are down and Robin’s friends take off and decide to give robbing from the rich a try.

Feeling rejected, Robin thinks things can’t get any worse, until he finds out that the ham-hoarding Prince has also captured his friends. Can Robinovercome his own hurt, rescue his friends and restore the townspeople’s hope?

A story of faith, strength, and friendship, this timeless tale will warm the hearts of children everywhere!

Nearly every time I watch the VeggieTales, I learn a little something, and other times I learn a lot.  It just so happened when I sat down to watch this espisode of VeggieTales with Princess You Have to Sit Right Next To Me To Watch Movies, I must have been feeling pretty down.  It was my birthday recently, and I must have been feeling old, or just looking old – most likely exhausted and completely drained and wondering how I was going to get through the rest of the day (it might have only been 10am) or even the movie.  Of course, a cool cucumber and his bright red tomato friend come to rescue a 32 year old from their woes.

The movie actually comes with 2 films; surprisingly, I enjoyed the first episode about a missed birthday more than RobinGood.  The story line and the moral were a little more simple to follow.  The jest of the story was this: although you may be feeling low right now, it will pass, and your Mom always loves you.  So no matter if I’m 32 now and getting old, my Mom will always love me and this too will pass.  Because guess what, next year when I turn 33, I’ll be saying.. “Jeepers, I wish I was 32, 32 wasn’t that bad.”

So, thank you Veggie Tales, for a bit of a reality check.

The Only Child

Does a Mom of one have it easier than a mom with many?  As the parent of a singleton, I often wonder if I have things easier or harder than parents with a house load of kids.  I am the parent and the “friend”, with no playmates around the house 24/7, it’s up to myself and hubster to keep Princess I Need to be Kept Busy All Day entertained.  However, if you have lots of kids running around and all playing together, it’s the parents that have to keep them all in check  – if the older siblings aren’t already doing it.

While on vacation we were always on the look out for other children.  Many of which already had brothers or sisters and were not always looking to add another set of hands to help in making sandcastles.  I did find however, other singleton parents seemed to join forces.  We spoke about similar feelings, worries and observations about our only child.

Playing hopscotch on the beach - alone, with Mommy

In our family, Princess Entretainment takes a lot of energy throughout the day.  There is very little if any down time for Mom and Dad.  Sometimes I think if there was another youngster to play with puzzles, colour, play with Play-Doh, play in the tub… things might be a little bit easier.  But then on the other hand, it means more mouths to feed, more clothes to wash and more tushies to wipe.

So, what do you think? Harder or easier with an only child?

Healthy Families

A few weeks ago my family and I attended an up close and personal reptile show.

The beginning of the presentation went something like this:

Presenter: “Hi Everyone, we’re going to bring out some reptiles, but we have to make sure to wash our hands after we touch all the animals”.  “Does anyone know what the dirtiest animal with the most germs is?”

Kids: “Dogs Tongues”, “turtles”, “lizards”

Me: “Children”

Crowd: “*giggle*”

Presenter: “Humans”

Yes, that’s right humans are the germiest animals out there.

As parents, I’m sure we can all agree one one thing – we care about our family’s health.   Lysol is currently on a Mission for Health and I have been chosen as an ambassador for the program for 2012.  So, what does this mean?

Lysol has come out with some new products in the past few years to help eliminate sharing germs.  While we may all think soap is clean, to pump out the soap you have to touch the top of the dispenser with your dirty hands.  I think of this every single time I am in a public washroom washing my hands.  Sharing germs with strangers is way worse than sharing germs with my family.  The Lysol No Touch systems  dispenses soap without having to put your hands on any part on the pump.  I have noticed public washrooms going this way, and I like it.  The No Touch System has also made it’s way into the kitchen, another really germ friendly area.

I’m really looking forward to learning more about Lysol throughout the year to see which new innovative products they will be introducing to keep our families healthy and diminish germs.

Lysol’s Mission for Health doesn’t just stop in the home, they are also working with communities to make them healthier as well.  They have a new Mom Program, education in schools, cold and flu prevention and even disaster relief program (after a natural disaster, it’s a breading ground for germs).

You can learn more at Lysol.ca

Wordless Wednesday: Spring has Sprung (w. Linky)

Last week, it felt more like summer than spring.   Today the ground is filled with snow once again, but we did enjoy the nice days while they lasted.   I’m sure nature is just as confused as the rest of us.  Princess I Can’t Wait Till Summer has been wearing her swim suit around the house for 3 days now.

If you have a WW, please link it up below and make a comment.

Starstruck $250 Giveaway Sponsored Video by Zellers

Zellers is back at it again.  This time they are looking for your favourite Zellers memories to make into a video.  One of my favourite Zellers memories was when they were having a deal every hour for one full day.  I was pregnant and stayed up until 11 pm to get a sweet deal on a Exersaucer.  While I may have been exhausted, it was a wonderful feeling to have swollen ankles and being nauseous while waiting in the store… because it meant I was pregnant and was soon going to have a baby.

Ever been starstruck?  Here’s an example of a facebook fan’s memory which was made into a video.

Zellers will be choosing 8 participants to make their Zellers Memory into a video; and they will also be awarded $250.

While we’re all sad to see Zellers go – with it’s store closing their doors it makes for some pretty decent deals.  Make sure to check out the Zellers Facebook Page to get in on some even greater deals.

Rings – A Hard Decision

So, last week it was my birthday.  It was a marvellous day, with recording breaking temperatures.  I could have never asked for much more – although I kind of did, without really asking.  A new ring has been on my sights for sometime and thankfully my husband reads my blog.  I wasn’t sure if he did, but when I got an email entitled “Ring” I thought he wanted me to call him.  Instead, he said he wanted to take me shopping.

So, here are my choices:

Ring 1:

Ring 2:

Both are from People’s Jewellers.

So, what do you think? Which would you get? Ring 1 or Ring 2?

Here’s a bit more info.

Ring 1:

  • Champagne stones in the middle are NOT that dark
  • Twice as expensive as ring 2
  • Over twice as big as ring 2
  • Can not be bought online as it doesn’t come in my size and will need to pay $90 just to get it sized

Ring 2:

  • Smaller than ring 1
  • Can purchase online without having to get it sized
  • Cheaper than ring 1

So, there you have it.  What are your thoughts?  A girl only turns 32 once!

Easter DVD’s

It’s hard to believe Easter is right around the corner, as in 2 weeks.  It’s going to be here before I get to blink.  We generally go to my Grandmothers house in the country for the holiday and as soon as we get there, Easter is over.  I remember some wise people taking about how quickly time goes by….

For Easter, we don’t go crazy with gifts, we generally get Princess I Want Everything some chocolate eggs to find (so the adults can eat them), and then a few little gifts, maybe a spring dress and a toy.  This year, the Easter Bunny is going to bring her a bicycle, but please keep it a secret, she doesn’t know.  Hum, I hope she doesn’t read this…

This season to celebrate Easter, some very popular kids shows have new videos coming out.  Max and Ruby were once all time favourites in our home, I’m sure your children enjoyed them as well. Or, if they are just young they will soon love them.

Max & Ruby: Easter with Max & Ruby
Spring into the Easter season with two very funny Easter bunnies – Max and Ruby! From Ruby’s Easter bonnet to Max’s Easter bunny, and an EasterParade too, you’ll be celebrating the season bunny-style! Join the seasonal play dates with Max and Ruby!

Max & Ruby: Springtime for Max & Ruby
Hop into Spring with Max and Ruby! Help them search for Easter eggs and a chocolate chicken, and play other outdoor games in the sunny, springy weather too! It’s always a great day to play the Max and Ruby way!

Nickelodeon Jr Favorites: Celebrates Spring!
Celebrate the spring season with Dora the Explorer; Blue’s Clues; Max & Ruby and Little Bill.  In addition, enjoy a bonus episode from Rugrats.

For a small gift, movies are about $14 each, very affordable, and not over the top.  I really like to keep Easter simple and more about the reason we have a few days off work!  Thank you Jesus!

  • 1 lucky reader is going to receive all 3 movies
