Sharp Air Purifier

Last year, I had the opportunity to test out the Sharp Plasmacluster Ion (PCI) Air Purifier.  This is the cream of the crop purifier, complete with water for humidifying, and lights to show the dust levels (cough) and humidity.  Darling Hubster has been known to have terrible allergies during the spring and summer, his eyes water, he sneezes non stop and he has a drippy nose – sounds really pleasant doesn’t it – it’s a good thing he’s got money (who am I kidding)… I mean, it’s a good thing he’s cute!  And it can literally last for months. Last year was the first full year with the Air Purifier, and while I can’t say for sure if it was the Air Purifier that helped him, we both noticed a significant difference in the snot levels last year.

While people with allergies are allergic to the outside air/pollen/trees/grass it’s actually the time spent inside overnight and then first thing in the morning that the stuffiness is the worst.  I suppose it must be because the stale air is circulating in the house over night.  I have seen it for many years with my husband, his eyes nearly shut closed when he wakes up in the morning. If the high end purifier isn’t in your budget, Sharp also has some purifiers that do not also have the humidifying option.  This purifier comes with all the same purifying abilities with the PCI technology (removing up to 99.7 per cent of airborne particles) and the following options:

  • Triple Stage Filtration System
  • HEPA, Active Carbon, Pre-Filter
  • 3 Fan Speeds (High/Med/Low)
  • Library Quiet™ – as low as 29dB
  • Long Life HEPA Filter (up to 2 years)
  • CADR Dust 140/Smoke 129/Pollen 160
  • ENERGY STAR Qualified

The filters are easy to replace and with only one button to press, it’s simple to let the purifier do it’s job in the back ground while you and your family enjoy fresh air.  I one thought a purifier would only rid the air of dust, however, it turns out it does a lot more :

  • mould
  • viruses
  • bacteria
  • mould spores
  • germs
  • fungi

Yuck, yes these are some of the things in your home that can make you sick.  While other things like neti pots can also help with allergies, they don’t help with getting rid of some of these evil things lurking in your homes.

  1. I am a catsitter, and have multiple cats in the home. I am not allegric, however, with enough cat hair and dander, I do start to feel allergic – ish reactions. I would love this purifier to help with that!

  2. We’re allergy sufferers. I myself didn’t have them until we moved from the bay to the valley, which is pretty common for a lot of people out here in the same situation. Couple that with the dust in the house (no matter how much I try to keep up on dusting), and my cats, and things can get pretty miserable for us. My niece stays over frequently as well and she has asthma. Anything that could help with improving the air quality in our home would be a blessing. (Nikki Marie on rafflecopter)

  3. aghh we have a real struggle in our home with allergies and asthma. My oldest son gets it the worst but for us it is about and 8 month of the year ordeal, we pretty much live on claritin around here. This would be great, anything that helps would be a relief

  4. I don’t suffer from allergies anymore, but my father has a dust allergy which causes him to have a stuffed up nose/sinus on a regular basis.

  5. No one in my home has allergeries but we use two wood stoves that leave alot of dust in the air

  6. I think we must be the only allergy free home. We have two cats and the kids aren’t affected. Allergies can develop at any age. So you never know.

  7. My husband has recently become allergic to our cats (frustrating, yes). I’m thinking something like this might really help!!

  8. My entire family suffers from allergies and it is so frustrating at certain times of year. We have an amazing purifier in the living room that has helped alot, but I’d love to put one in our dusty basement as well!

  9. My father-inlaw suffers from horrible seasonal allergies, this would be a great gift for him!

    Thank you for the opportunity
    Cheers, Lisa

  11. My allergies are in the fall, when the leaves fall off the trees I cough until the snow covers them. Even if I don’t go outdoors.

  12. In our house, my allergies are worse in the summer while my husband’s allergies kick in during the winter months.

  13. We have had water damage in our basement, and while no mould was found there is a “smell” down there that always has me concerned. Also my youngest daughter has been developing some issues with breathing and allergies. So I would love to try out this air purifier.

  14. One of my grandsons suffers from asthsma and allergies. I would like to have an allergen-free home for when he comes to visit.

  15. My entire family suffers with allergies. As a child, I had testing done and then injections for years. My husband was exactly the same-THEN we create this lovely child from 2 parents with allergies….He is doing okay but frankly it is I who suffers the most now because antihystamines conflict with my thyroid medication and in fact, almost caused a stroke due to wickedly high blood pressure. I would absolutely LOVE to win this air purifier for my family and myself and perhaps we could all breath a bit better. Thanks for the chance to win!

  16. I am allergic to just about everything outside. When the pollen gets in the house, I live on allergy meds. I’d love an air purifier to help make it better!

  17. We don’t have any confirmed environmental allergies but my daughter has really sensitive skin and has had issues in past springs with rashes and my son often has a chronic runny nose in the spring. I’m allergic to antibiotics and my hubby is allergic to fish.

  18. I have sinus issues and I think its made worse by my allergies to dust and pollen… With the crazy, warm winter we are having this year, its made the situation worse for me.

  19. I suffer from severe sinusitis..allergy related and could use a new purifier (espcially with two dogs and kids and dust in the house)

  20. I think the better question is what *aren’t* I allergic to. Pollen, grasses, trees, dander… it never seems to end! This would help me out tremendously. Thanks for the giveaway.

  21. My husband wakes up every morning with a stuffed up nose and sore throat

  22. I’m always sneezy and stuffed up this time of year from the house being closed up. And in the spring time I am the same way. I would love to have this air purifier to run in our bedroom since I always seem to be my worst in the mornings when I wake up.

  23. I’m always sneezing and have itchy eyes, in the summer I also suffer from hay fever. This would be great to have.

  24. I get allergies mostly in the fall and sometimes in the spring. It usually will turn into bronchitis then.

  25. I live in an old building and I don’t know what’s coming out of the vents, but I do know it’s got little black bits and it’s gross! I try not to put the heat or A/C on because I’m afraid of what we’re breathing in.

  26. I would love to have an air purifier. We have large trees close to our house, and the pollen from them is terrible!

  27. My daughter seems to always have an allergy attack when she works in our basement. I would love to win this to use down there.
