Lady and the Tramp on Blu-Ray & DVD Feb 7

by Mommy on January 30, 2012

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, you can get your little ones one of Disney’s First Love stories, Lady and the Tramp on Blu-Ray & DVD on February 7th, 2012.

Here’s a Synopsis

A classic love story unfolds in the best Disney tradition as a lovely young pedigreed cocker spaniel named Lady, who lives a pampered life, finds herself falling romantically for Tramp, an amorous street-smart pooch without prospects. Although they have fun together on several dates, including a sentimental spaghetti dinner by moonlight at Tony’s restaurant, their relationship is strained not only by Lady’s loyalty to her human family and their newborn baby, but by Tramp’s devil-may-care attitude that eventually gets Lady in trouble and tossed into the dog pound. However, good-hearted Tramp redeems himself by saving the baby from potential harm and thus wins Lady’s love and the affection of her human family.

It’s amazing how time can change the definition of a word. I almost feel guilty writing the word Tramp on my blog and especially saying out loud to a 3 year old.  However, back in 1955, I doubt the connotation was the same as it was today.  Despite this minor set back, Princess I Love Puppies and I sat down to watch the movie together.

The story of Lady and the Tramp (Can’t believe I just typed that again), is one that hits very close to home.  Our own dog was once the the princess of our home and stole the hearts of everyone.  For a full five years our little poodle was the “only child”.  Then came along Princess I Need Your Attention All the Time.  There were few moments left over for the puppy that was once the centre of our universe.  Don’t get me wrong, I still love her doggy breath and she’s a very important part of our life, but she doesn’t get as many handmade dog coats as she used to.

Princess I Want a New Puppy for Christmas and I enjoyed Lady and the Tramp.  There were very few “scary” parts, a dog fight and a rat attack, but overall, it’s just a good wholesome story of a couple of young pups that have entirely different lives and fall in love.  I had completely forgotten classic songs like “We are Siamese” and “Bella Notte” are from this classic film.  And I’m also sure this has defined the way we all eat spaghetti today – who hasn’t tried that famous kiss with their loved one?
