Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Storybook Adventures (trio pack, 2 Winners) – Closed

What’s better than a Dora movie? How about 3 Dora movies in one?  September 13th, Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Storybook Adventures is hitting stores.

This 3 disc box set includes the following titles:

  • Fairytale Adventure
  1. Fairytale Adventure
  2. What happens Next?
  3. The Magic Stick
  • Dora Saves the Snow Princess
  1. Dora Saves the Snow Princess
  2. Dora’s Jack in the Box
  3. Bark, Bark, to play Park
  • Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom
  1. Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom
  2. First day of School
  3. Boots Banana Wish

There you have it 9 episodes of Dora the Explorer, what could be better for a 3 year old? Not a whole lot! DD frequently asks to watch Dora, and seeing as it’s not always on television, it’s so nice to pop in a DVD.  What I like about Dora is the interaction.  I hear my preschooler taking with her friends (Dora & Boots), pointing to the television to find the right item in Dora’s backpack and walking on her tippy toes when Dora and her have to pass a dragon.

I also enjoy watching her learn.  There are plenty of questions that Dora and Boots ask the kids that require “skill” to answer.  Even as short as a few months ago, these questions would go unanswered.  And now, at the ripe old age of 3, it seems that she understands enough to be able to respond to these questions (and with the right answer no less).

These episodes mainly focus on story book adventures, and therefore include mythical creatures such as  dragons and witches, they do turn out to be “nice” however.  There is also magic and crystals so if you are sensitive to these types of exposure for your kids, then these episodes may not be for you.  The episodes also include some of your preschoolers favourite characters such as Snow White, Cinderella and Little Red Ridding hood.

If your toddlers are into Dora (and Diego – he makes some guest appearances), this trio is sure to keep them entertained and stimulated.  Although her favourite episode isn’t included in this pack (Mambo), she still enjoys watching and playing with all her friends.  (And I enjoy a few quite moments so I can get supper made…)

Wordless Wednesday: A Personal Moment (w. linky)

It’s Wordless Wednesday time again (has it already been a week? Where has the time gone?).

This week was fantastic, I was in LA for the premiere of the Lion King in 3D.

While enjoying dinner with Moria Kelly (the voice of Nala), I had a moment….

I saw Jesus, he walked right by me.  At first I wasn’t sure if anyone else was having the same experience.  Sure enough, it was just LA Jesus walking around Sunset Blvd.  Everyone was able to see him, not just me – phew!

It was one of the oddest feelings I have had in a long time.

No sooner did I arrive home from another trip, and yet, here I am packing… AGAIN.

If you have a Wordless Wednesday, please link it up below and make a comment.

It may be 25 degrees out, but soon enough I’ll be trading in my flip flops for some winter boots (shiver).  Each year it’s amazing to see what the new style of footwear will be, and this year an old classic is coming back, and I have to admit, I dig it! And not just for style, but for function too.

The Pillow Boot, the classic red tongued boot that was worn for generations before us.  Member these? Brown or black tall laced boots and by leaving the laces slightly undone the tongue would flap over to expose a bright red tongue.  Yes, these stylish boots are making their way back onto the cold winter streets, but there is a very big secret that will keep Moms encouraging their kids to wear these boots…

The red lining is actually fleece. That is the key here, imagine a fleece lined winter boot – genius.  Too many times I have had icicle toes while wearing “Winter Boots” (and I’m sure you and your kids have too).  So this season, there is no need to compromise fashion for function, because the Cougar Pillow Boot have them both.  You can have warm toes and look good too!

What type of winter boots do you or your kids have?

I’m in the market for a new pair this year!  Should I go for this old style that’s coming back?

President’s Choice – $100 Gift Basket – Closed

To help you and your family get ready for the school season, President’s Choice wants to remind parents that they have plenty of items for the “most wonderful time of the year”.

Although we still have 2 years before little DD hits the books, PC Fall Insider report also focuses on way to make life for busy families just a little bit easier. For example, there are quick and tasty PC sauces that my family have enjoyed, the pulled pork is delish, and the pizza (although a little small), was very yummy and easy to pop into the oven for dinner after a busy day in the office.  My husband enjoys sour gummies and had quickly asked me to hide them when he realized there was a package included in the gift basket.  I found out little DD hasn’t fallen far from the Daddy tree – she too loves sour candies – great!

Although there is no longer a baby living at our house, there is one product that we always seem to have around, baby wipes!  The PC Sensitive Baby Wipes are incredible soft and are used frequently for cleaning mouths, hands and other messes (big and small).  We keep them in the house at all times.

Although this gift basket is technically geared around back to school, there are plenty of products to help around the home during those busy evenings, making dinner and clean up time painless.  For us, September means back to a regular routine (work, swimming, and this year we have also added dance class and ballet – what was I thinking? clearly, I was not). I will be thankful for the convenience of easy meals and easy clean up!  And I thought Summer was crazy….  I wonder if PC comes with an organizer (oh probably in their back to school section).

  • 1 lucky reader is going to receive a PC Gift Basket worth $100 + which includes:
  • PC Banana Bread Little Penguin Soft Cookies
  • PC Whole Bean Hawaiian Coffee

Kinder Surprise – 10,000 free Eggs

“My name is Lynette and I am a chocoholic”

I have said this before, and I will say it again… years ago I wanted to start a blog, I was told to write about something I love, and the first thing that came to my mind was chocolate.   I still love chocolate and am equally thrilled when I get the opportunity to test some out and write about my beloved weakness.

To counter balance my love of chocolate, I also take some me time!  I have started running and I have to say that I am loving it nearly as much as I love chocolate. This has surprised me more than anyone else.  I have slowly made my way up to running a full 18 minutes straight! It started slow at only 2 minutes, but here I am over 1/2 way to running 5K.  I look forward to my evening runs and it makes my other weakness (chocolate) even more rewarding than ever before!  Believe it or not, I find it fun.

One brand of chocolate that I have been familiar with for years is Kinder Surprise.  I’m sure it is a brand you are also all familiar with from your childhood (or because you now have kids of your own).  I am very pleased to announce that I am an official Kinder Suprise Mom – what could be a better feeling when you are a self-proclaimed chocoholic?

Kinder is reintroducing itself and is launching their brand new 2012 toy collection!  If you want to check them out visit Kinder Canada on Facebook.  You will also want to visit their page because they will be giving away coupons for 10,000 Kinder Eggs.

You’ll be hearing lots more from me and Kinder over the next few months, so stay tuned (and enjoy the free eggs while you’re at it).

Disclosure: I’m part of the Kinder® Mom program and I receive compensation as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.  Please see the full Terms of use.

The Lion King 3D in LA

Hakuna Matata

The Lion King is by far one of Disney’s most successful films of all time.  It was released into theaters in 1994, I was 14 years old and watched the movie so many times, I ccould recite the movie verbatim.   The Lion King has won awards for both it’s animation and musical achievements.  With a pop star like Elton John on the soundtrack, there’s not doubt there will be plenty hit singles (and of course there were).

The Lion King is about to hit theaters again, but this time in 3D! I will be attending the magical red carpet event in LA at the El Capitan Theatre this weekend.  I can hardly believe, that me, just a little “girl” from Nova Scotia will be fortunate enough to once again visit Disney and experience all the magic and awe that comes along with such an amazing event.

Along with the screening, there will also be African Dance lessons, lunch with Don Hahn (producer), cocktail party with Moira Kelly (the voice of Nala), and some presentations on how 3D animation works.

I, and fellow bloggers will of course be Tweeting our hearts out and posting updates on Facebook (let’s hope there is some free wifi – being from Canada it’s hard to get a connection).  So, please keep up with me online!

**Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post.  I will be flown to Disney Studios in California to experience the red carpet screening and events.  The views expressed in this post are those of My Wee View and have not been influenced in any other way.  Please see the full Terms of use.

Sonicare FlexCare+

I have been using an electric toothbrush since Christmas 2010.  It was actually on my husbands Christmas list, but he quickly realized he prefers the control of a manual brush (he has very sensitive gums).   Since then, we have been on the hunt for an electric tooth brush for my picky husband.

It was my intention to get my husband to test out the new Sonicare FlexCare+, however… If you remember last month, I went to Hawaii, upon returning from my amazing trip, I realized I had forgotten something very important on the island – my electric toothbrush.  So, here I was feeling like I had lost an old friend, and there was a brand new shiny friend waiting at my doorstep.  So, I sucked it up, and tried out the toothbrush myself – and am I ever glad I did.

When I first put the Sonicare Flexcare+ to the test one evening in the bathroom, alone, my husband was suspicious as to what was going on in there.  The packaging was a challenge to get undone and then the buzzing started.  With 5 options to choose from, clean, gum care, refresh, sensitive and massage each setting comes with a different pulse for different cleaning.  The settings are also lit up so you can brush your teeth in the dark if need be. I preferred the sensitive setting, seeing as my dentist has told me it’s the best for my sensitive gums.  After leaving the bathroom, I gave my husband a big smile and told him I was simply testing out the new toothbrush.

It’s been nearly a month since I have been using the brush, and without a doubt, the Sonicare FlexCare+ is like a Cadillac when it comes to electric toothbrushes.  I would say all electric toothbrushes do a better job at cleaning teeth than a manual brush, but there are also different levels of quality in electric toothbrushes.  Of the 3 brands I have tried so far, the Philips Sonicare FlexCare+ is by far the best.  I have been given many compliments on how extra white my teeth look (despite drinking a cup or two of tea everyday, and maybe a bit of red wine).  I can even feel how smooth my teeth are along the back and front with my tongue.  I can really see and feel an increase in how well this brush does it’s job (making my pearly whites shine).

As a child, we are told to brush our teeth for 2 minutes, I challenge you to time how long you brush your teeth my guess would be around 45 seconds.  With the Sonicare FlexCare+, the brush turns off after 2 minutes so you are guaranteed to get your recommended tooth brushing time in.

If you do get this toothbrush (and I highly recommend it), there is one thing I should let you know.  The toothbrush vibrates and if you take it out of your mouth before it turns off, little specks of toothpaste buzz right off your brush and onto your clothing.  So, I would suggest waiting to spit once the brush turns off or brush your teeth in the buff wearing a towel, before changing into work clothes for the day.

I did want to wait until I received a check up from my dentist before publishing this post, but unfortunately, due to a conflicting schedule, I had to change my appointment.  I’m sure next time I go visit, he and my dental hygienists will both see a difference.

Along with the amazing job it does on my teeth, there are a few extras that go along with toothbrush.  It comes with a blue light sanitizer, an extra head, a travelling case and some colourful rings to help distinguish who’s head is who’s.  Hopefully the travelling case will help me remember my toothbrush on my next trip, because I would be devastated to forget my “new best friend”.

I also took the opportunity to make a little video.  It pretty much explains all the above, but with my voice.  I have to warn you, I was a little bit nervous!

**Disclosure – I am participating in the PHILIPS SONICARE FLEXCARE+ program by Mom Central Canada on behalf of Philips Canada. I received a Sonicare product pack and a gift card as a thank you for myparticipation. The opinions on this blog are my own. Please see the full Terms of use.
