It’s been over a month since I started Couch to 5K and thought it would be a good time for a review of the program. If I had to explain it in one word (which is nearly impossible for me to do – ever), the word would be AWESOME! Yes, that’s right, it’s awesome. I LOVE the program! I can not believe after 5 weeks I am still on track. (That doesn’t say too much for the confidence I had at the beginning of the program does it). Despite a few alternative goals while in Hawaii, it was easy to pick up where I had left off before vacation and get back into the groove.
Here I am, 5 weeks later and am going for a 10 minute run tonight, and am excited for it. In fact, I am doing a big no-no by running on my day off – but guess what, I can’t help myself, I WANT to run. (I can’t believe I just said that.)
On June 21st I quote myself saying “I hate running…longest 2 minutes of my life….I especially like the 2 days to relax”
and by July 29th, I already love every minute of it? So much so, that I want to torture myself on a day I am suppose to be resting? The odd part is, it’s not torture at all, it’s uplifting, empowering and dare I say “relaxing”?
So, if you are still sitting on the couch, chair, bed, toilet (some people bring their phones there), thinking about running – GO FOR THIS PROGRAM! I can not believe what it has done for me. I have failed at running before because I tried to do too much too fast and was discouraged. Couch to 5K is a slow progression that builds your body for success. I am living proof!
Here’s the plan if you want to start (day 1 is the hardest):
Did any of you start when I did? How is it going for you?
As you know, I am a Hoover insider! And I have had the opportunity to test out a few of the most recent Hoover product to hit the market.
A few month back I received the MaxExtract carpet cleaner. Much like the FloorMate I had the opportunity to review last year, the MaxExtract only cleans with clean water. There are 2 separate buckets in the system, one spits out clean water and solution while the other sucks up the dirty water left behind after the bristles thoroughly clean the carpet.
I wish I did’t have carpets in my house, but we do and there is no doubt after living in our home for nearly 5 years we needed to clean the carpets. In particular, the stairs were in desperate need, as this is the area that gets the most dirt trekked on it. The MaxExtract has a special handle just for cleaning stairs, so it was very easy and quick to suck up all the grime and dirt squished into the carpets (it even has a mini brush). Although I’m not proud to say, the water was nearly black when the stairs were done being cleaned, I am however happy to have the grime gone.
The sucker has lots of power and it leaves very little water behind. In fact the stairs seemed nearly dry once done cleaning. I took my time moving the wand slowly and I found it worked much better at picking up the water and the stairs were much drier.
But the real test in my house is a carpet stain we acquired with the purchase of our home. In my daughter’s bedroom, there is a large black ring we only saw on the day we moved in. The circle stain was nicely covered by a bench by the previous owners. I figured, this would be a true test to see how well the MaxExtract would work. I stuck the MaxExtract on the stain and now, the stain that elbow grease alone could not get rid of, is nearly just a memory and a reminder of the things not to do when trying sell a house that will disappoint the new purchasers.
Although a little large for storage, if clean rugs and carpet are important to you, you will love the MaxExtract results!
We also received a Hoover WindTunnel MAX Multi-Cyclonic vacuum cleaner. This is like a tornado that picks up everything in it’s way. We have a 3 level house, and had only 1 vacuum cleaner. Although it isn’t large, we didn’t take too much initiative to lug the vacuum around the house. We took it around as needed but it was more or less when it was necessary rather than scheduling a vacuuming every Saturday morning.
Now with the Hoover Windtunnel MAX Multi-Cyclonic we have a vacuum upstairs full-time and it means our 2nd level gets vacuumed way more often! And it has also brought to my attention how we probably should have been trying to vacuum much more frequently.
The Hoover WindTunnel is a bagless vacuum that seems to have sucked up the most minuscule dust particles known to man shoved in our carpets – I know, not a pretty picture, but it’s a really true! The dirt sucked up from these rooms is nearly embarrassing. I had to admit, I shed more than our dog (in my defense, we have a non-shedding Toy poodle). Much of the dust was from my hair stuck in the corner of the rooms and under the bed, but my goodness with the amount of hair pulled up, I expect I should be bald.
There are different levels of height that you can put the Hoover Windtunnel, depending on the thickess/height of carpet you are cleaning, there is also the option to put it on “carpetless”. In today’s homes flooring goes from carpet to hardwood to laminate to tile within just a few rooms, so it is very beneficial to have 1 unit that can suck up dust and crayons (you never know), all in one shot.
It’s simple to dispose of all the nasties your new best friend exposed! Just remove the container, with a click, twist off the top, dump and then put it back in and you are ready to continue on your journey. Since it’s bagless, you are not left with tiny dust particles flying about while taking off a bag and there’s no need to struggle while putting on a new bag. It’s easy and “clean”. (oh, a clean vacuum, imagine!)
Along with the sucking power there are a few extra special features. I am particularly pleased with is the 28′ automatic cord rewind. I’m sure you all share my pain of having to wrap up the vacuum cord once you are finished using it, and it probably looks like a small cobweb. The next time you go to use the vacuum you are left untangling which takes longer than the vacuuming chore you were suppose to perform in the first place. Well, finally the MAX Multi-Cyclonicl is an upright vacuum with a retractable cord! This small addition is a life sanity saver. You will also find it’s easy for the cord to stretch between rooms and even stairs, 28′ is a lot of cord. So there will be less plugging and unplugging as you go from room to room.
Yes, Hoover certainly has some great cleaning products, but I also want to talk about the customer service I experienced with Hoover. Last year I had the opportunity to test out the FloorMate. We used this regularly in the kitchen, hallways and everywhere else in the house without carpets. After 8 months of continuously using the FloorMate it gave out on us. I contacted the PR company who put me on to customer service and within a week they replaced it for me! There was a brand new FloorMate waiting at my door.
I have been very pleased with both the products and customer service at Hoover. Perhaps a little disappointed to see how dirty my house is, but am glad there are products out there stronger than what simple elbow grease alone can do.
Open to Canada & US

I’ve been home from Vacation and am still not sure what day it is, if I am coming or going or if it’s day or night. The 7 hour time change and 24 hours worth of travelling has really taken a toll on me. I actually was going to post a Wordless Wednesday picture yesterday, which was Monday.
Here’s a small glimpse into my holiday:
If you have a Wordless Wednesday pic, please make a comment below and link up yours.
Sleep has been an ongoing issue with DD. Not only is it nearly impossible for her to sleep all night, it’s hard to get her to crawl into her bed at night at all.
At almost 3, she knows everything – already? Seriously? We are in for it when she’s 13! Now that it’s summer time, the sun stays up late which also means (to her) she can stay up late too.
Her bedtime is around 7:30 pm and each and every night we hear this “the suns still out, it’s not bedtime yet Mommy”.
Seeing as her mom and dad are so smart, we went out and bought 2 sets of blinds so her room is very dark at 7:30 pm despite the bright sunshine just on the other side of her window.
For now, the darkened room tends to work – kinda. I’m just interested to see what her reaction is going to be once fall arrives and the the sun goes down at 5 pm! Will it be bitter sweet? I’m sure she will have somethig else up her sleeve by then, or perhaps she will konk out at 5 pm and then punish her loving parents by waking up every night at 3 am – oh wait, she already does this,,, like I said sleep is an ongoing issue for us!
I know however, I am not alone when it comes to sleep issues, parents around the world are having the same struggles. Disney Junior has a special parenting section on their website and this month there is a special exclusive article by Dr. Nicky Cohen called “Summer Sleep”.
If you have sleep questions (I know we all do), check out Disney Junior on Facebook page, on the left you will see a “questions tab” where you can post questions for Dr. Cohen.
If you have any sleep tips – send ’em over, we can all benefit from shared information!
Last year I had the wonderful opportunity to review Hapari swimwear and I can say, without a doubt that this swimsuit is my absolute favourite that I have received to date. I tested out the sport style after the suggestion of the Hapari personnel and sure enough it fits my body type perfectly (um,,, let’s call it “chesty” – all natural, of course). I have the opportunity to wear the suit every single Sunday night at swim class and now that summer is here (and I just went on vacation), I am wearing it even more. I love the long length and how it keeps all my “parts” in the right places.
Alright, now that we got that out of the way, I want to let you know about a super fun contest that Hapari has going on right now, they are looking for their next model. To enter, just submit a picture of yourself and then get your friends to vote on you. Along with the title, you will also get $2,500 cash and a trip to Florida for your photo shot.
I myself am by no means a model, but am almost considering taking part of this contest – wouldn’t it be great to see an average women get this type of “job”.
I encourage all of you to apply and hope that one of my lovely readers gets this opportunity!
Your contact information (Facebook name, phone number, address)
Your photo will be posted on the Hapari Facebook page with you taged you. Then you will get your family, friends, strangers, dogs, cats, and everyone one else on Facebook & Twitter to check out your picture. Pretty easy eh?
I have been testing out electric toothbrushes since last Christmas. I never though about getting an electric toothbrush myself actually, it was my husband who had it on his Christmas list. Since that time, he has had the opportunity to test out 2 different electric brushes, both of which have not quite made the cut for him, but that has not stopped his efforts.
This time he will have the opportunity to Make the Switch with the Philips Sonicare FlexCare+. With a special Sensitive mode, I am hoping that his will be the brush for him! (Don’t let my husband know I just posted to the world that he needs a sensitive toothbrush – our secret). Over the next few weeks to a month we will know if we finally found an electric toothbrush that stands up to my husbands high standards (hey, what can I say, he did marry me…) I’m really looking forward to seeing my husband Make the Switch and hope this is will finally be the one that works for him!
If you too are interested in making the switch, you can win a Sonicare FlexCare+ electric toothbrush worth $219! – Just like the one Mr. My Wee View will be testing!
Readers may enter the contest on multiple blogs but are only eligible to win one Sonicare Flexcare+ as part of the contest.
