Toopy and Binoo Matching Game – Closed

I owe a HUGE thank you to some people that I don’t even know.  You see on Saturday and Sunday mornings, DD seems to get up before the bread man opens his eyes.  So what do you do with a 2 year old that is ready for the day at 5 in the morning and her parents just want at least 1/2 an hour more in bed?  You let her play with your iPhone!  Yes, terrible as it might sound, we let our little girl spend a few minutes of quite time in our bed at 5am and let her watch You Tube.  For 4:31 seconds at a time my husband and I are able to get a bit of shut eye while she is kept entertained.

Anyone want to guess what she’s watching?  Toopy and Binoo, a French Canadian show (also in English), that is about a rat and his mute cat friend.  This is a super clever show that every child I know is in love with.  I haven’t seen anything related to Toopy and Binoo in the stores (thank goodness, because I know DD would want us to purchase everything about them).

We are trying to incorporate family game nights in our home, so when Hasbro contacted me about trying out a number of age appropriate (not MY age – my daughters age) games, I thought it was a great idea.  To my surprise one of the games was a Toopy and Binoo matching game.  I truly did not know that it was coming until I opened the box.  I was so excited to show DD her new game.

Together we played memory, but did have to make a few modifications.  For example, the game comes with 72 different pieces, that is  A LOT of matching, so we broke it down into 3’s.  There are 3 different types of matches to be made with different background colours, so we just use one section at a time.  We also just leave all the memory pieces flipped up right and have fun finding the matching pieces. As she gets older we can make the game a little harder, but for now we enjoy playing the easy version.  We don’t play all the time, but we can get some quite playing time together, this is a great game.

DD is constantly asking for Toopy and Binoo on the laptop or the iPhone, these characters must have some sort of magical touch with anyone 6 and under because they all seem to be enthralled with them.  I was very surprised to see some Toopy and Binoo characters on this type of game.  Thank you Hasbro for recognizing this great Canadian show.

The Face only a Mother can Love (w/Linky)

We went to the local farm last weekend.  This is a humongous pig – it’s hard to tell how big he is, but he scared DD pretty good.  He has a face only a mother could love.

Magnum Review & $250K Giveaway

Back in 2006 or 2007 I wanted to start a blog, but I wasn’t quite sure what to write about.

The advice I received was this: “write about something that you love, because there is someone else that loves it too”.

The first thing that came to my mind was – CHOCOLATE! I could write about chocolate, I love chocolate and I know good chocolate when I get some – heck my grandmother is from Belgium – where the very best chocolate is made (yes I even have family members that are chocolatiers).

As you can see, I don’t have a blog completely dedicated to chocolate, but I still have the opportunity to test it out!  (Best hobby ev-ah).  If you have been out and about anywhere in Canada, I’m sure you’ve seen the Magnum ads on buses, billboards and in the grocery stores.

Magnum has just been launched into Canada after years of being in Europe.  A few weeks ago a large box of dry ice arrived with a number of Magnum ice cream bars inside.  This would be my very first experience with this decadent chocolate, but I knew that my taste buds would be up for the test.

My family, friends and I had the terrible job of testing the Original and the Double Caramel.  Both were absolutely mouth wateringly delicious.  With each crunch of the outter layer of chocolate I was brought to my Belgian roots and truly knew what chocolate ice cream bars are suppose to taste like – heaven on a stick.  The verdict? close race, but the Double Caramel was a touch tastier.

Here are the newest decadent ice cream bars to arrive in Canada:

  • Magnum Classic: This is the original pinnacle of pleasure that started it all – a delectable bar offering a silky vanilla bean ice cream covered in a thick layer of Belgian milk chocolate. The quality ingredients melt in your mouth to create a luxurious experience like no other.
  • Magnum Almond: You’ll go nuts for this one! Almond lovers can treat themselves to silky vanilla bean ice cream covered in a thick layer of Belgian milk chocolate with crunchy toasted almonds. The nuts are abundant in Magnum Almond and the crunch is divine.
  • Magnum White: Pure, perfect pleasure. This dreamy combination features silky vanilla bean ice cream covered in a thick layer of Belgian white chocolate. Never before has something so seemingly pure tasted as sinful as Magnum White.
  • Magnum Dark: Come to the dark side of luxury. With Magnum Dark, silky vanilla bean ice cream is covered in a thick layer of 60% Cocoa Belgian dark chocolate. Magnum Dark is the ideal indulgence for dark chocolate lovers the world over.
  • Magnum Double Chocolate: Chocoholics rejoice! You can now enjoy the ultimate indulgence as Magnum presents creamy chocolate ice cream covered in a chocolatey coating, molten chocolate sauce and a final layer of thick crackling Belgian chocolate. Magnum Double Chocolate is like a gourmet dessert on a stick.
  • Magnum Double Caramel: This is pure decadence. Silky vanilla bean ice cream is enrobed in a rich chocolatey coating, luscious caramel sauce and thick Belgian chocolate. Magnum Double Caramel is supreme indulgence; it’s supreme pleasure.

I am looking forward to the Almond and the Double Chocolate.  If you haven’t caught the video on You Tube by Scott Stratten about the Double Chocolate False Advertising, you have to see it! It will crack you up.

Magnum is on the search for a new Heir, you could win $250K worth of prizes:

The Giveaway includes:

  • CAD $100,000 in cash as annual income
  • Personal Chef service for a year: 1x 3 course meal for 4 people, once per week.

Jason Priestley in NS?

This past weekend, we went to the Apple Blossom Festival Parade in Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia.  Although it the 3rd largest continuous parade in Canada, I wasn’t expecting anything too spectacular – this is NS and we don’t have a very large budget for these types of fun events.

I was so surprised to see Jason Priestley (90210) in our local parade!  It’s not too often that I have star sightings (Although, I did see Justin Timberlake and Lindsay Lohan in Hollywood last year).

This was the highlight of my day, I was a HUGE 90210 fan back in the 90’s.  So Thanks Jason for coming out!

Raspberry Kids – Green Giveaway – Closed

I’ve had the opportunity to review Raspberry Kids in the past.  But you may have noticed that it’s been a while – a long while.  You see Sue, the owner of the Eco-Friendly Canadian online store has recently been travelling down under with her Aussie Hubby!  The great thing about having an online store is that it can be run anywhere and while she was in Australia, she also picked up some very unique and exclusive products to add to her store.

For Review, DD received a number of green products.  The first is a green Hamburger – Ewww, gross! Alright, it’s not really “green”, but it is eco-friendly and has a number of eco-friendly fixings including buns, lettuce, and onions.  This special burger is made with 100% recycled plastic milk containers.   The official name for these burgers is Sandwich Shop, but I find that the meats all look like hamburgers.

We play make believe and eat these fake burgers all with different toppings.  Each piece fits on top of one another, I would have liked the pieces to kind of snap on, but they just more or less sit on top of each other (there is a little knob on each item, but the fit isn’t really that snug).  DD doesn’t seem to mind and just switches the burgers  up and continues to pretend to eat.  I wonder why she can’t eat like that in real life – kids…

We also received a Green car, which is actually blue.  For those of you that visit regularly (Hi, I love you guys), you know DD has a thing for boy toys.  She pushes this little car (once again made with milk cartons) around the house and on some of her tracks that she has.  (I told you she’s a tom boy).  Like the Sandwiches, I’m very surprised that these are made with milk cartons. I would never expect that something could be such a quality product coming from obvious garbage.  It makes me like these products even more knowing that otherwise they would just be sitting in landfills.

Lastly, we received a Green – Pink jump rope.  I remember as a child, I spent hours and hours and days jumping rope, by myself or with friends.  I’m really looking forward to the day that DD and I can actually jump rope together.  My husband, DD and I have been practicing with this new eco-friendly skipping rope.  It is suppose to be a rope for one, but all three of us use it.  One person on each end twisting while the other jumps in the middle.  I have to admit that my favourite is jumping in the middle, it brings me back to the days of double dutch!  My husband is surprisingly good a jumping rope as well, because the cord isn’t too long (when we are using it for 3), he has to duck down really low.  He’s a trooper and can jump rope just as good as anyone I know.  At only 2, DD has a bit to learn from her Mom and Dad when it comes to jump rope.  She jumps a little bit to late, but it’s great to see her try and not give up!  Like I said, I’m looking forward to the years to come when we can jump rope together.

For eco-friendly toys and pretty much anything else, check out Raspberry Kids.
