Being in a bathing suit can be intimidating! I admire all the people that can walk around the pool or the beach in barely nothing at all and strut their stuff. I am NOT one of those people. Sure I don’t have a supermodel body, but I don’t think that I have too much to be ashamed of. But being the modest person that I am, I much rather feel comfortable around the beach than be completely self-conscious. So, I tend to stick to tankini’s.
While on vacation, I had the opportunity to review a tankini from SwimSpot. This is not your average tankini, it’s more like a fancy shirt that is made with swimsuit material. It’s called the Tate Peekaboo Tankini by Luxe by Lisa Vogel. I generally have a hard time finding swimsuits that fit because I’m top heavy. If my legs weren’t so strong, I’m sure I would fall over forward from the extra weight on my chest (ok, you got me, it’s not THAT bad, but it’s true that although I wear a size 8ish pants, my top is closer to a 16 sometimes even larger). So you can imagine that I have a very difficult time getting something to fit. Looking at the design of these unique swimsuits, I was very hopeful.
When the suit arrived (sans matching bottoms, due to the price of shipping to Canada), I was a little confused as to how it was suppose to go on, but quickly got all the pieces in order and came out of the bathroom strutting my stuff! This is probably the most flattering bathing suit that I have EVER worn – it’s like designer swimwear. It has a beautiful v neck with jewels to draw your attention to all the right areas and is flowy through the mid section but comes in at the hips to give shape.
While on vacation, I wore this tankini for a very long walk along the beach and into the nearest town. It was easy to go from beach to city without feeling like I was wearing a “bathing suit” as a shirt. It just looks so natural and flattering that I felt like I was talking taller.
The real test was when I used this swimsuit for swimming. Since there is a lot of extra fabric it kinda dragged along and when I was out of the water (freshly wet), the suit was kinda saggy and not as flattering as when it was dry. I would suggest this suit for looking good at the beach, not necessarily for swimming.
I really liked how the suit was unique and no one else on the beach had anything similar. There was no need to bring along an extra shirt for breakfast or lunch because the top looks like it is a shirt and I know that it looked good! If swimming isn’t your thing and you don’t really think that your body is string bikini worthy, but you still want to feel good about yourself while at the beach, I strongly suggest the Peekaboo tankini style swimsuits – they are flattering! I just can’t believe I didn’t take one picture of myself on the beach that day – grrrr!
