AppleCheeks – $25 Gift Certificate – Closed

DD is pretty much potty trained.  She goes to the potty when she wants to go to the potty, she can do number 1 and number 2 on demand – however it’s on HER schedule, it’s only when SHE WANTS to go.  So needless to say, we still have to put “big girl panties” and diapers on her regularly because there are many times she doesn’t want to use the potty.

I was hopeful that this would all be resolved by the time that we went for our vacation, but I was not fortunate enough so we needed to get a swim diaper.  The AppleCheeks swim diaper is very thin and easily fit under all of DD’s swim suits, it’s not bulky and it has a number of snaps for a variety of sized kids.  We were not even in the pool 10 minutes before we had a chance to test out AppleCheeks reusable swim diaper.

These diapers are not meant to hold any water, they are used more or less to ensure that “code brown” doesn’t leak into the pool or the ocean.   I can assure you that they work, as we had the chance to “test” them out more than once.

At first I wasn’t sure if 1 swim diaper was going to be enough.  But we quickly learned that there is no need to dry this diaper out.  All we had to do was dump out the “dump”, wash rinse and it was ready to go again.

During our vacation we  did alternate with disposal swim diapers, especially around the times that we knew the inevitable was about to arrive.  But in all honesty, this swim diaper would have probably done us fine the whole vacation.  In fact, I did not bring any disposables swimmers on vacation at all, one of the other vacationers gave us a pack and they were nice to use as well.

Although I didn’t mind using the AppleCheeks swim diaper, I think it’s best suited for weekly swimming lessons or short trips to the pool.  Because it is so thin and does not hold any liquid I found that I frequently had to change from her swim diaper back to a regular diaper back to the swim diaper because we were going to lunch or for a walk and we didn’t want her leak.

But overall, this little diaper sure did it’s job well (keeping the pool from turning brown).

**updated to add – all potty trained now, wrote this review a few weeks back**

  1. I hadn’t realized that AppleCheeks carried nursing pads – they look very intesting with 3 layers on the bottom and two on the top. I’d love to try them out!

  3. The diaper covers and nursing pads interest me. I just started cloth diapering and I use bummies and thirsties covers now but these look really soft. The nursing pads look nice too, I wonder if they absorb better than the gerber ones i’m using currently.
