EcoMom – Puzzle gift pack or $40 Gift Certificate – CLOSED

EcoMom COUPON CODE: “SBBL104″ for 15% off all orders

By now, you must all know about EcoMom, the eco-friendly store that makes shopping and protecting our environment really easy!  EcoMom is one of my favourite sponsors, not only because they are saving the world, but because they are extremely nice people as well.

Many of you are in Canada, (cause that’s where I’m from)… EcoMom also ships to Canada.  If you go through their checkout and you find that the shipping rate is a little pricey, shoot them an email and they will give you the REAL shipping cost – this is the lengths that EcoMom will go to, to ensure their customers are happy.

This time for review, I received an educational puzzle by Beleduc.  This is a wooden 4 layered puzzle that teaches children about the layers of the body.  I recently had the opportunity to really teach DD about the body after an episode of Caillou.  Caillou and his friend were playing with a skeleton (the kind at the Dr’s office), so I got the puzzle out and started teaching – cause that’s what I do.

I was surprised at how real the puzzle is.  The layers include:

  • skeleton (this is the bottom layer and does not include puzzle pieces)
  • digestive system
  • muscles
  • skin
  • clothing

The puzzle was quite detailed, there is no doubt that it is a little girls body that your children will be putting together.

I found that with all the pieces out on the floor, it was too confusing for my 2 year old to put the puzzle together.  So, to make things easier for her, I put each of the layers in a pile and gave her each layer separately.  I was so surprised at how well she did when we used this technique.  Sometimes she would put the legs and feet in the wrong spots and get frustrated, but once I told her to put it on the other foot she was ok.  She was able to put the whole puzzle together on her own.

I love these types of educational toys, they test her motor skills, teach her about the human body and she has to use her brain to put the pieces in the correct spots. Oh yea, one last thing – they are also eco-friendly.  How can you NOT like toys like this?

EcoMom carries a wide variety of items that help make our world a better place, all the items are all natural, eco-friendly or are great for protecting the environment.  What a great company.
