Minnie’s Masquerade on DVD February 8 & Mickey Mote

Mickey Mouse Club House’s latest DVD, Minnie’s Masquerade, comes to stores on February 8th, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Here’s a synopsis:

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie’s Masquerade starring Disney’s Fab Five — Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Daisy – takes viewers on an all new adventure as they dress-up in their favorite costumes for Minnie’s Masquerade Ball.  In this episode, Minnie needs some help getting everything ready for her party including making royal crowns for their costumes, searching for Sir Goofalot’s lost shoe, stringing up paper lanterns and much, much more. At the ball, Professor Von Drake hosts the great Clubhouse Costume Show and gives out prize ribbons to all the friends who have dressed up in some funny and fancy costumes.  All it takes is a heaping helping of imagination…and the right Mouseketools.

Minnie’s Masquerade also comes equip with the new Mickey Mote to make the movie even more interactive.  Although I love the Mickey Mote concept, I think it’s a little too advanced for DD right now.  The Mickey Mote is simply an option and if it’s not chosen the movie plays completely normal.  It’s great to have the interactive play for the future, but for now, we don’t use it.

DD does however enjoy watching Mickey Mouse Club House Minnie’s Masquerade.  She actually enjoys dressing up in her ball gowns to get ready for the party.  She changed her wardrobe so many times during the episode, there was very little chance to watch the entire movie.

I was pleased to see that she understood the concept of the “ball” and wanted to dress up, and she enjoyed herself wearing all her Disney Princess party dresses.

Although the Mickey Mote is too advanced, she certainly understands the concept of Toodles and can pick the correct item needed to accomplish the task at hand.  Soon, it’s not going to be challenging enough so the Mickey Mote will be an added bonus as the game and challenges can grow with her.

Next Day Flyers – 250 Business Cards – CLOSED

Have you ever found yourself in a major crisis situation where you are about to leave on a very important business meeting and you still don’t have any business cards?!? This has happened to me, and I was left going down to the local printing shop and ended up getting cards that I didn’t like (cause there were only 2 card options).  I spent a lot of money getting them printed and didn’t hand out more than 1 card.

This is what happened to me while I was at Blissdom – oops.  I’m surprised that anyone remembered who I was; who goes to a conference and doesn’t have business cards to hand out?  Well, I had the cards, I was just too embarrassed to pass them along cause they were brutal.  I wouldn’t even show them to my closest blogging friends!

What I needed was a place like Next Day Flyers.  They offer custom next day printing services on items like postcards, birth announcements, school bookmarks, greeting cards and business cards.   You personalize all the items using your logos and incorporate it with their templates and the next day there are business cards waiting at your door!  So you should never find yourself in a “situation” again.

As a busy working Mom, it’s easy to forget things ( baptism cards, birthday invites) and only realize last minute that you need them STAT.  Next Day Flyers takes that stressful situation and turns it around.  This is the perfect place for last minute procrastinators!

They also provide a wider selection of items and service which  includes calendars, magnets and coupons all available with this amazing 1 day turn around time complete with full colour and personalized just the way you want it.

Here’s the really good news they are also available in Canada (along with the US)

Cuddletunes – CLOSED

With a name like “Lynette”, I have never been able to get anything personalized off the shelf.  In fact, as a child I don’t recall getting anything personalized, other than those chocolate Easter eggs with my name poorly written in icing.  I was thrilled to see my name on something, but thinking about it now, we have come a VERY long way from those times.

I like unique names, I never had to add my last name to anything I did in school, because I was always the only Lynette (up until 12th grade).  This was partly why we chose the name DD for our daughter.  It’s unique enough that she won’t get mixed up with all the other children in her class, she’s an individual and very special!

Times have completely changed from when I was a girl, although I still can’t buy anything with my name straight off the shelf, there are plenty of places to purchase personalized items online, made especially for me.  But, it doesn’t stop there!  Now, songs can even be personalized.

Cuddletunes is a completely personalized MP3 player for your kids.  When purchasing this cuddly bear online, you pick your child’s name and all the lullabies are then personalized especially for your child.  You can even preview how the songs are going to sound before you make the purchase.  DD’s name fits in with the music perfectly, it sounds as if the whole song was recorded start to finish, just for her.

Not only are there 5 personalized songs and there is also the opportunity to make a personal message.  I chose to make a bed night message especially for my little angel.  We usually say prayers together every evening, so I made a special message with our prayers, just in case I miss a night or am away she can still hear me and remember her prayers.

The bear arrived very quickly and I was impressed as to how the MP3 player worked.  It has a stop, forward, playback, and volume controls.  My favourite part was watching DD’s eyes light up as she heard the bear sing songs with her name in it.  She made sure to show her Dad right away!  Then, it got even better when she heard my voice at the end.  I’m not sure if she “got it”, but she definitely knew that it was my voice on there and it was our nightly prayers.

There is one extra little thing that this bear has, a red beating heart.  There is a light in the bear that lights up as it plays music.  DD likes to pick at it, and it is also quite bright in the dark, making it a good little night light.  Which is great especially for kids that may be afraid of the dark.

I was super impressed with the Cuddletunes bear, I really can’t believe how perfect each of the songs sound.  I love that it’s personalized just for her and that I was also to make a very special little message as well.  You can’t get much more personalized than that – it sure blows away my Easter chocolate egg!

Cuddletunes currently has a giveaway going on to win one of these personalized bears.

NutriSystem: Week 4

Along with the NutriSystem meal plan, it is also suggested that you work out regularly.  I am one of those people that can do a work out for a little while and then completely abandon the mission.  Since October, I have been skating regularly (a few times a week) at my local rink, or at the oval which we have for the Canada games that are coming to Halifax.

I really enjoy skating, and I feel spectacular after I’ve finished a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.  It’s quite a good work out.  Unfortunately, I don’t get out as often as I should.  With a busy work and family life, it’s really hard to find time each and everyday for myself to work out.  I know I should make myself a priority, but I’m sure all you Mom’s understand that with young kids at home, it’s nearly impossible to make yourself a priority.

So, here’s my favourite part about NurtiSystem, despite not being able to get a full workout in every single day, I am continuing to get thinner!  This is what is making the program work for me.  I (like many of you I’m sure) am not perfect.  Some weeks I didn’t make it to the rink once, ’cause life got in the way!  But, I would try to make up for it in other ways.  For example, taking the stairs at work – I’m kind of forced to, cause the elevator is under repair, but hey – it works.

Although I am sure if I had a regular workout routine, I would probably lose the weight faster, for me right now, it’s almost impossible.  Despite this fact, I am still extremely pleased with the rate in which the pounds are coming off and how simple it is to follow the diet plan.

So, for all of you, if working out is something that is very difficult (I hear ya)!  But the good news is NutriSystem can still help.

Week 4 =   – 1.5

Total = – 9

Nickelodeon Favorites: Sisters and Brothers (3 winners) – CLOSED

On February 8th, all your kids favourite day time hero’s are coming to DVD.  Nickelodeon Favorites: Brothers and Sisters is 122 minutes of Dora, Diego, Blue, The Wonder Pets and Ni Hao, Kai-lan.  These are shows that are on a regular rotation on Tree House, are educational and fun.

Here’s a Synopsis:

Dora the Explorer – Big Sister Dora

Dora has some really exciting news: someone new is joining Dora’s family! Someone who sleeps in a cradle, drinks from a bottle, wears diapers, and likes to be rocked to sleep. Dora’s Mami is having a baby! Maybe it’s a boy…or maybe it’s a girl. Dora and Boots have to get home quickly to find out!

Go, Diego, Go! – To Babysit a Bobo

The Bobos’s are on their way to the Spider Monkey Fiesta with their 3 new Baby Bobo Sisters. And as the Bobos search
for fruit for the party, the restless Bobo Sisters speed off into the forest to look for fruit without them!

Blue’s Clues – The Baby’s Here!

While waiting for Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper to call from the hospital with news of the new baby here, Paprika prepares to be a big sister. Looking at baby books gives everyone a chance to learn about what they were like when they were really little.

Wonder Pets! – KalamaZoo! / Back to KalamaZoo!

Ming-Ming visits her Aunt Eleanora at the local petting zoo during a school holiday. Eleanora asks Ming-Ming to take
care of her toddler cousin, Marvin, for the afternoon. Ming-Ming thinks this will be a “piece-of-cake” but Marvin proves to be quite a spirited little Duck. Ming-Ming must learn to look beyond her own needs and find the patience and compassion to take care of Marvin.

Ni Hao, Kai-lan – Hoho’s Big Flight

On the day of the big lantern festival to celebrate the end of Chinese New Year, Grampa gives Kai-lan some lanterns for her and her friends to decorate. But when Hoho’s lantern flies away, he jumps on it, and everyone goes on a big chase to get him down!

DD is finally starting to understand these interactive shows.  She will answer back to the TV and point to things.  It’s great to watch her and see that she understands what is happening.  She’s only 2  1/2, but she really comprehands a lot (or at least I think she does, but I could be biased).

One great feature this DVD has is that it plays over and over again without having to press play.  Once the 122 minutes is complete, the movie will start from the beginning again.  We have never sat down to watch the entire movie from start to finish, but it has been playing in the background for the whole day before and we would pop over to catch an episode of Dora or Wonder Pets.

I’m sure that many of the children that are watching these shows are also in the process of becoming a big brother or sister, or have older siblings.  These movies focus on brother’s and Sisters and what it’s like to be one and have one.  My favourite episode is Blue’s Clue’s, Paprika is going to be a big sister and they go to the nursery to see all the babies, I think it’s really cute and it was nice to show DD all the babies in the nursery too.

Make sure to be on the look out for Nickelodeon Favorites: Brothers and Sisters which is being released on DVD on February 8th.
