I’ve been so busy lately,,, last week I completely forgot Wordless Wednesday (oppsie).

Here is DD at the Spa, she may only be 2, but she knows a good spa when she sees it.  Once her hair was complete, she also got her nails painted.  We love Sharkey’s Cuts for kids.

Old Navy – Surviving the Holidays in style

I’m sure Old Navy has been on your Christmas list before – either for yourself or someone else.  Take a peek at this video from Caroline Johnson, the Senior Director for Old Navy Canada Merchandising Top 10 Holiday Picks! (I can’t get it to upload to my site – so, here’s a link to YouTube).

There’s a little something for everyone at Old Navy!  And right now, until December 3rd, you can use this coupon to get 30% off any item (expect fleece tops).  This is a coupon that is good in Canada – yippie!

Whether you are looking for a nice Christmas outfit for yourself, or a warm jacket and mitts for the kids, Old Navy is a place where you can cross off many people from your list.  It’s one stop shopping at Old Navy!

Canada, we are finanlly able to buy online from Old Navy.ca so now, Christmas shopping can be even easier.

One more thing, if you have that teenager that is impossible to buy for,,, Old Navy has something for them too.  My best advice however, is not to go out and get them a lovely sweater, give them a gift card, they will appreciate it more, and you money will go a lot further with a gift that they want.

In the meantime, you can browse the site and make your own little Christmas list of things that you want.  I have my eye on this cardigan – hunny, are you reading this?!?

    Beansoup – CLOSED

Christmas time means lots of cooking, baking and time spent in the kitchen!  I would also say that I tend to dress up and wear some of my best clothing around Christmas – which isn’t always the best combination!  I have ruined more clothing with grease and oil while cooking then I would like to admit.  It has taken me a while to learn, but recently as I work away in the kitchen, I have also worn an apron.

Beansoup makes fashionable aprons for adults and children (because we all know how much kids like to have fun in the kitchen too).  DD has regularly worn her new chocolate orchid apron.  At only 2 years old, DD isn’t doing much cooking, but she is doing plenty of crafting, painting and messing – so an apron is just as important!  I have put on this adorable brown, blue and orange apron on top of her clothing to protect them while she is busy being a girl.  The apron is long, so it also covers her pants.  It is an apron that ties around the back of the neck and does not cover the arms, so I just make sure to lift up her sleeves.

What I love the most about this apron is that I have a matching one – yep, that’s right, DD and I can be in the kitchen together wearing the same thing.  Often, while DD is being creative, I am making dinner, so we both will be wearing our matching aprons together.   And,,, it gets even better – my mother has one too – that’s right, 3 generations of matching aprons.  Can you imagine, all of us together at once wearing the same thing.  I think it’s adorable, and I know my Mom likes the idea too – how lovely to be wearing the same thing in the kitchen with your daughter and granddaughter?  I’m sure, it’s every grandma’s dream.

I really like the pattern of these aprons, I like that they protect my clothing and I especially like that my family can all feel connected, especially while in the kitchen – which is typically a gathering point.  I wonder if I could get my husband to wear one too?!?  (Now, I think I’m dreaming).

Beansoup carries aprons for children and adults in many different patterns and also cobbler aprons (the classic 1940 style aprons).  For the boys (and of course girls too), they also have capes!

    A Christmas Carol – Blu – Ray & DVD

One of the most classic Christmas tales / movies of all time has to be A Christmas Carol.  On November 16th, Disney released an animated version of this heartwarming tale.

    Here is a synopsis:

From Walt Disney Pictures comes the magical retelling of Charles Dickens’ beloved tale – Disney’s A Christmas Carol, the high-flying, heartwarming adventure for the whole family. When three ghosts take penny-pinching Scrooge on an eye-opening journey, he discovers the true meaning of Christmas – but he must act on it before it’s too late. Complete with spirited bonus features, this exhilarating and touching Disney classic is destined to be part of a family holiday tradition, adding sparkle and heart to all Christmases yet to come.

This version of A Christmas Carol is rated PG.  I would think that it is too scary for anyone under the age of 10 for sure, if not 12.  There are plenty of scary moments throughout the movie.  I’m not a huge fan of scary, but I do like the Christmas Carol and knew what to expect, so I thought it was fine (for myself).  There are also some sad parts, Tiny Tim nearly breaks my heart every time.

Although it is animated, it is so well done that it is very easy to forget that you are watching a “cartoon”.  The characters are all life like and very real.  Disney did an AWESOME job at the animation -it’s Disney, should we expect anything less?  Actually before I put the movie in, I thought that it was real life characters due to the picture on the front of the movie cover.  I was surprised when I found out it was animated. Jim Carrey plays an amazing Ebenezer Scrooge (as always, he is awesome in all his roles).  I did find however that I sometimes got lost in translation with the Old English accents.  However, this is a great version of an old Classic.

A Christmas Carol is out on DVD and Blu-Ray on November 16.

Empire Theaters – Give & Get

I know for the last few years, Empire Theaters gift cards has been a gift that I have given to many people on my shopping list.  For some people a movie is a regular occurrence, for others it’s a special treat, but either way it’s an experience that everyone enjoys.  This Christmas Season Empire has a very special gift, when you spend $30 on a Gift Card, you get $30 worth in coupons – it’s called “Give & Get”!  So for every dollar you spend, you get $1 back in savings – sounds like a win/win deal for me.

It especially feels good when you give a gift that keeps on giving.  I know, it sounds cliché, but it’s true because the coupons can be used throughout the year.  So every time your special loved one goes to the show, they will be thinking of your generosity – how nice is that?

I put a lot of thought into my Christmas gifts, I like to buy things that I know people will like and use.  Some people are easy to buy for – like my brother, however other people can be a little bit more challenging.  What do you buy someone who is everything and doesn’t really need anything?!?  For those people, I like to buy gift cards and in fact, it’s usually for my Dad that I do get an Empire Gift Certificate for Christmas each year – Dad try to act surprised when you get another one this year.

From now until December 24th, you can purchase the this special Holiday gift online or in store, to find out more, visit Empire Theaters online.

**Disclosure – I am participating in the Empire ‘Give & Get’ program by Mom Central on behalf of Empire Theatres. I received an Empire gift card and coupon bundle as a thank you for my participation.
