Uncle Ben’s – Prize Pack – CLOSED

In our home, we make rice with nearly every single meal (unless we are having pasta).  Rice seems to be a staple in our home.  My parents and grandparents generation had potatoes with every meal, but I think all of you (who are around the same age as me,,, and if you want to know how old I am, here’s my birthday post) would agree that we have rice on our dinner plate more often than any other starch.

Uncle Ben’s sent me their newest line of Whole Grain White rice for review. The rice looks and tastes like regular white rice, but has the benefits of whole grains. One variety of rice that I actually used and make on my own is Broccoli Cheddar.  I received a package of Broccoli and Cheddar Whole Grain White rice.  It was very easy to make, I simply had to add 1 3/4 cups of water to the contents of the box.  I love when things are that easy, because I have been known to mess up recipes.  I did a quick stir, put the pot on the stove let it boil, turned down the element and about 10 minutes later, took the pot off the element – EASY!

I thought I had made the rice wrong (which I wasn’t surprised about), because it seemed really runny, but after re-reading the box, it says that it’s suppose to be creamy.  So, I mixed it up and tried it, and it was super yummy.  Although it didn’t look like the rice on the box, the rice was cooked perfectly and it was delicious.

The Uncle Ben’s Whole Grain White Rice is also good for you, here are all the benefits:

  • Good Source of Fiber
  • 44g Whole Grains per Serving*
  • Low Fat
  • Low Saturated Fat
  • 0g Trans Fat
  • Cholesterol‡ Free
  • Made with Natural Ingredients
  • 100% Natural Flavors
  • No Preservatives
  • Lacto-Vegetarian

For a nice change from plain white rice, the Broccoli and cheddar rice is delicious and has all the benefits of Whole Grain – just don’t tell the kids.
