The last part of my Disney experience was in celebration of the release of the Diamond edition Beauty and the Beast which is out on DVD October 5th on Blu-Ray and DVD. I am very tempted to say that this is my favourite Disney movie, but with so many to choose from, it’s really hard to make a bold statement like that. But I can say, that I was more than excited to attend the events that Disney had in place for us for the afternoon and evening. If you missed Part 1 & 2, you can catch them here.
Our afternoon started with dancing lessons (we all know I can use those), but not just any dancing lessons! Ballroom dancing lessons with Christian Perry, one of the choreographers from Dancing with the Stars (a HUGE topic of conversation at work each week)! For over an hour, a special group of ladies had the opportunity to be whisked around the beautiful penthouse suite dance floor at the Renaissance just off of Hollywood boulevard (seriously, who am I?!? What did I just say I did?!?, yes,, I am still pinching myself over this whole surreal experience).
We drank champagne, eat chocolate dipped strawberries and all had a marvelous time together sharing this incredible experience. We even learned the very uncomfortable “final” dance pose, how to properly walk onto the dance floor and how to accept a dance. By the sounds of things, it’s probably my husband that should have been taking the lessons.
After dance class was finished, we retired to our room to freshen up, we hit the town and bumped into Justin Timberlake. He was shooting a movie on Hollywood Blvd. It was interesting to see how Hollywood movies are created, it takes many shots and plenty of time and patience (very similar to how animated movies are made, which I experienced at Disney Toon Studios, you can learn about it here). We could have stayed to watch for hours and hours but alas we were excited for the final part of our magical two days, the Cocktail party with Paige O’Hara (the voice of Belle).
The cocktail party was in the same penthouse suite that the dancing lessons was in, but had been magically redecorated into a fantastic banquet area. As we entered the banquet hall, we were all extremely surprised to see two easel’s set up in the back of the room, each with a cartoonist sitting on a stool. They were there to draw for us – Any Disney Character of our choice. How do I even begin to choose one? The choices were endless, my brain was racing to choose just the right characters for DD. After careful deliberation, I went with Cinderella and Tinker Bell, but it was a very difficult choice. Each piece of art was personally signed by the artist and dedicated to DD. This type of gift has no value. It truly is the most special tangible item I have received for my daughter to date.
Then, she arrived, Paige O’Hara. As soon as she opened her mouth and began to talk, I could see Belle in my mind. It was quite an experience to meet one of your favourite cartoon characters in person. We all talked, we all laughed, we all had an incredible experience. It felt like a good home party with a group of people that all experience something very special together, that no one else would understand unless they were there with you. The magic of Disney truly was with each and everyone that evening. It is something I will never forget.
To top it all off, we all sang the first introductory song “Bonjour” of the movie Beauty and the Beast with Paige. I can pretty much recite the entire movie (especially the songs).
I did not know what to expect when I Disney asked me to attend these 2 days of Disney Bliss. I can tell you that it surpassed anything that my own imagination could think of. I think about this great adventure all the time and will hold this experience close to my heart for years and years to come.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to get these days together for us. In true Disney fashion, every fine detail was taken care of, it was an experience I will never be able to forget.
