We may be the only household in Canada that doesn’t use paper towel. (Go ahead, read that statement again, yes, I said that we don’t use paper towel). We use cloth napkins for everything, and wash them. I try to save the better cloth napkins for the dinner table, but it seems that for some other people in my house (my husband), any cloth napkin can be used for anything at any time, including cleaning up caulking – I’d love to share this story with all of you, but it get’s my blood pressure up).
Once Bounty contacted me to see if I wanted to review their paper towels, I thought sure, I’d love to check them out. I have to admit, I love how easy they are to use. With a toddler at home, there are a lot of clean ups – after crafts, painting, supper time, spills, just to name a few. it is so easy to tear off a paper towel square, do a quick clean up with or without water and then throw away the towel (no need to throw in the wash). I was surprised how sturdy these little things were, obviously not as sturdy as a cloth napkin, but they are more absorbent. Here is a picture of a plate and cream corn that ended up on the floor accidentally, on purpose. I used the Bounty paper towels to clean it up and it only took 2 sheets.
One thing that I do want to mention is that I feel a little guilty throwing them away each time. With the cloth napkins, there is nothing to throw out, so they are easy on the environment. However, here in Nova Scotia we have an amazing recycling program and paper towels is something that is recyclable (so I don’t really throw them in the garbage, I throw them into the compost, but I still feel some guilt).
I liked the convenience of the Bounty paper towels, and was very surprised as to their strength and ability to clean up a mess (big and small). I found them way more absorbent than cloth napkins and if my husband wants to use them for caulking, that is fine by me.
For those of you that like easy Halloween Decorations,,, Bounty makes really great ghosts, they are so easy to make you can even get your small kids to help. Here is DD painting a green ghost.
