LeapFrog – Counting Candles Birthday Cake – CLOSED

LeapFrog is a leader in educational toys for aspiring minds.  They have simple and complex learning toys to help your child develop their cognitive and motor skills.

The most recent item that I received is one that DD really enjoys.  She loves parties, especially those that involve cake.  This summer was very busy with Birthday Parties.  As soon as we would make our grand entrance to the party the first thing DD would say is “I want cake”.  A little embarrassing as her parent, but everyone else thought it was cute (so we will go with that).

The Counting Birthday Cake is a mini educational tool to help children learn to count, sing Happy Birthday and blow out candles.  My daughter really enjoys her cake (although she can’t eat it).  As she presses the star or balloon buttons a different amount of candles light up or it’s time to blow out the candles.  She hasn’t quite mastered how to blow hard enough for all the candles to lose their flame, but after a few stronger and stronger blows, they eventually go out.

This is really neat technology (it even impresses my husband who is a techno guru).  You definitely have to give a good huff and puff to get the candles to blow out, just like the real thing.

We love LeapFrog, their toys are well thought out and are age appropriate.  They grow with your child as they need more and more educational stimulation, and they are always coming up with new and innovative products.

BlissDom Canada

To say I had an awesome experience at BlissDom Canada would be an understatement.  I learnt so much during the sessions and met some wonderful people.  Some of which I knew before through the internet and others I had only met and for the first time – but completely fell in love with!  These people include Shelagh from Practical Mum, Shash from Shasher’s Life,  Tara from Tara’s View of the World, Tammi from My Organized Chaos, Stacie from Simply Stacie, Nicole from My Real Review, Janice from 5 Minutes for Mom, Erica from Yummy Mummy Club,,, I could go on and on – seriously, I could.

As time goes on, I will be making a few changes to my site – thanks to the wonderful advice from some of the guest speakers.  My blog will remain the same (same old me and same reviews), but I will be adding and removing some things over time to help my blog improve!  (I am also always open to hear from you guys, as to ways I can make my site even better – constructive criticism is always welcome!)

Anyways, I want to say a huge huge huge Thank you to my sponsor EcoMom.  Without them, this wouldn’t have been possible.  Thanks to everyone that gave them some Twitter love!!!  And,,, with that said, I have the winner drawn for the Gift Certificate… (drum roll please)….

#54  Angela M.

Congrats Angela.

Not only is EcoMom an amazing resource for all natural products for everyone in your home, but Jody, the owner of EcoMom, is an incredible person!!  He makes this company what it is, he is a super hard worker and now has investors, so look out – EcoMom is going to go places – BIG places.  And I am very proud to be so close with them.

I can’t wait till BlissDom Canada comes back again next year – sounds like it’s already in the works.

Rubbermaid – Reveal Mop – CLOSED

I don’t really enjoy cleaning much (does anyone really like cleaning – seriously?!?), and I tend to cry (or use a very loud high pitched voice) over split milk.  I do have an amazing vacuum type of floor cleaner that is great for cleaning the entire floor, but it seems like a big machine to pull out for the smaller accidents (that are sometimes on purpose – *sigh*).  Thankfully, the new Rubbermaid Reveal Mop that I received for review has made cleaning spills a breeze.

This is a very simple and easy mop to use and there is no pushing around dirty water to get the floor clean – I could never understand the concept of mops that use this tactic.  There is a little trigger sprayer that squirts out clean water and any other cleaner that you want to add right in front of the mop.  As you push your mop forward , it cleans up the mess – simple yet effective.

The Reveal Mop has a microfiber pad that is easily washed and re-used.  It sticks onto the bottom of the mop with velcro.  The kit came with 2 microfiber pads so while one is in the wash, the other pad is ready to go.  The pads can hold quite a bit of liquid.  I don’t think it could mop  up a quart of milk or anything, but smaller spills and little messes (that typically come along with children, pets and husbands) are easily cleaned up.

I also like that it’s simple to use, fill up the little refillable spray bottle with water and cleaning solution and you are ready to go.  No need to plug anything in, no cords, just squeeze the spray trigger and you are ready to go. I also like that the head of the mop moves around easy, making it simple to get into some hard to reach spaces.  My bigger cleaner can not get behind the toilet and other places, where the Rubbermaid Reveal Mop can easily get behind there and because it’s so light weight, it’s no big deal to lift it up and get into those little nook and crannies.  The mop head is rectangle so I am sure that it doesn’t fit everywhere, but the head of the mop rotates so much that it does get into most places.  That being said, my home doesn’t have any odd shaped corners (they are all pretty much right angles).

Overall, this is a quick and simple way to clean up after dinner or after an accident.  I also really like it for cleaning the bathroom floors.  (Please don’t get that confused with LIKING to clean the bathroom floors).

Pee Pee on the Potty – Mommy where are you?!?

So, here I am at BlissDom Canada (Having a great time, thanks to EcoMom).  Ironically, while I am in a session about work/life balance, I get an email to let me know that DD peed on the potty today for the first time!  I told you – Ironic eh?!?

Well,,, on the other side (and the side that makes me feel better) is that if I was at home (in Halifax), I would have probably been at the office when she accomplished this milestone, so I would have missed it anyway.  But, being a Mom, it’s very easy to feel guilty about missing these precious moments in our children’s lives…. I think guilt runs my life…..

Maybe DD can continue wearing diapers until I get home and wait to do a “code brown” in the potty ’till I get home!

This really makes me miss home!  See you in 2 days Sweet Pea!!!

But, I am very glad to be here.  I am learning so much from the speakers, other bloggers and PR too!

Have any of your missed some big milestones?!?  Should I feel this guilty???
