I have a hard time finding a swimsuit that fits me. A few years ago (almost 10 now – jeppers, when did 10 years become only a few?!? – I am getting WAY too old), I went to a specialty store to get a swimsuit that was specific for women that needed a D+ bikini top (this is when I could wear a bikini and feel REALLY good about it). Anyway, I did find a top, with an underwire and it fit better than any other swimsuit I had tried on before. 2 days into my vacation, I was at the store and low and behold, the back clasp on my bathing suit cracked open. I was bare “tatas” and it was pretty embarrassing to say the least. After inspecting the bathing suit more closely I noticed that a simple plastic hook was what was keeping (or not keeping) my bikini top on. That’s like trying to keep a bowling ball held in mid air with Kleenex – sooner or later, it’s going to break!
So, why divulge all this embarrassing info to you? I think it’s important for all of you to know that it’s hard to find a bathing suit that fits and wont fall apart – especially when you need to get specialty sizing.
I recently had the opportunity to review a swim suit from Lime Ricki Swimwear. I let the people know about my sizing issues and they suggested that I get the Jennine Tank Top in size XL to accommodate my chest size. It’s a little bigger than I would have liked to see on the tag, but hey, they are the experts and who sees those tags anyways? Plus, they can be cut out. (Other than me telling the entire bloggesphere, no one else knows).
When the Lime Ricki swimsuit came in the mail, I quickly ran into the bathroom to test it out. This is the first time I had a swimsuit that has a tie around the neck like that. I have had other halter tops that tie in the back and rely on the back of my neck for support. But this swimsuit doesn’t have the same effect on my neck. I think it’s because the top of the halter is in the middle and keeping everything in place. The tankini really fits me – completely, and it’s not going to break (there is no clasp), and my chest doesn’t pop out of the bottom or the top (yes popping out of the bottom has been a problem in the past). To say I am extremely pleased with this tankini would be an understatement. On top of fitting me properly, it’s adorable and fashionable. Until this point, I have been getting my bathing suits at Walmart cause that is the only place I can find something that reasonably fits and doesn’t cost a fortune.
I also received the matching pink bottoms. Please make sure to read this part of the review… if you are buying the cover up skirt (which I completely suggest because they are super cute), please note that they are not like a skort or have a bikini bottom underneath. It is simply a skirt! So make sure to buy bottoms as well. I was surprised when I received the skirt only to find out that I had nothing to wear underneath them! But the skirt is really cute and it has cinches on each side that is easily pulled up or down on each side. I did eventually get a pair of bottoms to wear underneath, but kept the skirt on while in the water – covering up any of the areas that I may be a little self conscientious of.
Over all, I love, love, love my new swimsuit from Lime Ricki. I didn’t think that there was anything out there that could make me feel this good at the beach without being too covered. It fits me and it’s stylish. If you do end up getting a suit that doesn’t quite workout for you, Lime Ricki offers free shipping on all exchanges!
