Little Tikes: Spray and Rescue Firetruck – CLOSED

by Mommy on July 5, 2010

Little Tikes is turning 40 this year, this company just seems like one that I grew up with and has been around forever.  They have plenty of products for children ages 0 – 4+.  I receved a brand new product from Little Tikes that the whole community enjoys.

For review, Little Tikes sent us the Spray and Rescue Firetruck.  Once again, my daughter was way too excited to wait for myself and my husband to arrive home to assemble this, so my Mother was the one stuck putting it together.  She got as much as she could get done with a 22 month old jumping all over the place, but then had to put it aside and called in the “heavy” (my husband) to finish the job.  The instructions are pretty straight forward, it took my husband about 30 minutes to get the whole thing together.  DD was helping her dad with the screwdriver to make sure the wheels stay on.  (What a good helper).

The fun really began once the Firetruck was in the back yard and ready to go.  Everyone (the community kids) was so excited to take their turn riding in the Little Tikes Spray and Rescue Firetruck, but they quickly learned that it was more fun and faster to push around.  Each child took their turn inside the truck and then changed it up by pushing.  One thing that I did notice that the younger children  forgot to lift up their feet so they would get stuck under the truck.   It just took a few screams and the child would stop pushing for a second and the fun would start again.

The firetruck is mobile by foot power, like Fred Flintstone.  The kids these days really are lazy and I found that it is a little hard  for them to push forward with their own feet, it seems to be easier to push themselves backwards.   So that’s that car part of the toy – huge hit, lots of good fun, but wait there’s more (this sounds like a infomercial)…

The firetruck also has a little water tank and spray hose that is functional.  The tank holds about 2 gallons of water.  The hose uses old pump technology to get the water out.  Simply push the hand pump up and down and then press the little button on the spray hose and water comes out with pretty good force.  It can go really high!  The hole isn’t that huge, but that’s good because you’d be  filling up the water tank too often otherwise.  This was what the kids loved the best about the Little Tikes Spray and Rescue Firetruck.  They play with this everyday in the back yard.  The kids ages are from 18 months – 4 years and all the kids enjoy it.

Little Tikes is a leader in children’s toys, I have plenty of their items in our home!
