This past weekend, my husbands Grandfather turned 80. We made the trip out west to attend the festivities and it was a wonderful time. Nearly everyone in his whole entire family was there, it was amazing! A complete surprise – for any of you with Grandparents alive, you know how hard it is to keep a secret from them – they are just so smart. Anyway, there is something that completely ticked me off….
The party was in a house on a really nice property, everyone was playing games outside and it was lots of fun. Well, nearly 24 hours AFTER the party, while I was playing with my hair, I discovered a tick – in my head! By that time, I had slept, taken a shower, blow dried and combed my hair, and then drove in a car for nearly 5 hours. I was so disgusted and had the hibijibies all night and all day today.
Those things are just so gross.
Have you ever had one before?!?

No but now I am grossed out thinking I do lol
I have had many, many ticks throughout my life. They suck and itch even after you take them out.
Yikes! I have the chills from reading this.
I’ve found a tick or two when I was growing up. We lived in the country…I am so sorry you had to deal with one!
Aw man! I hate ticks! We live in the middle of nowhere. One day my dog got one by her eye and I was so grossed out. The next day I went to get my 7 month old daughter out of bed and she had one by her eye!!! OMG! I flipped out! Thank God my husband and MiL were there. They are used to dealing with those things. Those things will cling to your pants or shoe and climb up until they find a comfy spot to stick their head in. Yuck!
EEK!!! yuck yuck yuck yuck yuck!!!! YUCK!!
Yea, thanks for making my head itch! LOL
Nope, no ticks on me. But, I used to live in a tick infested area, so
our dog would get them occasionally. And when my grandmother visited
once, she got one! I don’t like them and am really glad that I don’t live
in an wooded area anymore…but I still keep an eye out when my son has
been playing outside.
I get them all the time, the animals do to because we live in the country
and I’m always outside riding and doing stuff! They are gross, but I’ve
gotten so used to them it dosen’t really bother me!
Not ticks, but lice, at the ripe old age of 26. From a movie theatre. Never so grosesed out in all my life, and three weeks later still trying to get them and all their bloody nits out of my long thick hair…I itch just remembering it!
Oh yes, in the boundry waters of Minnisota and Canada. Its gross…but just make sure you got it all out. And definately make sure you save it. If you have any reactions or rashes, make it to the doctor pronto. Good luck!
We are always fishing in the woods so I catch them trying to climb me. So we look like monkies checking each other afterwards:) One actually bit my husband and he had bulleye mark, he headed fast to doc.
No, but dang it if I won’t get one now after saying that. We have ticks bad around here too. I posted about ticks on Mother’s Day. We live in tick country..lol. ps as soon as I read your title in the email I knew you were talking about those nasty little things.
Yes my whole family has gotten ones before. We go camping nearly every summer.
Congrats on your grandpa turning 80! My grandpa turned 80 5 years ago I think. I made t-shirts for all the kiddo’s to wear that had his face with a party hat on. It was a big hit. I liked putting them on the onesie’s.
The oldest anyone in our family has gotten was my great grandma. She died at 92.
Hurray for birthdays!
Yup, ticks are little buggers. My DH had one last week, and we live smack in th emiddle of the city. Our pediatrician said they’re particularly bad this year (maybe just here in the NE) and to be sure to check the little guys every night before bed.
Ticks are a pain, but when you live in the boondocks like me, you have
to deal with them, unfortunately. Happy Birthday Gramps! That’s awesome!
I no longer have any Grandparents or parents. I feel like an orphan.
They give me the hibijibies too! Last time I had one was years ago, and it
was on my knee but I seriously just about cried. Hate bugs – especially
ones that want to burrow into my skin!
Yes, as a child. My mom had to get one off the back of
my neck. I still have the scar.
I think I’ve had one, but it wasn’t nearly as traumatic as the day I
woke up to find a tick on my daughter’s head… on her 3rd birthday.
UGH! Ticks are so gross! I haven’t had one for years but I got all icky feeling just thinking about it.
We live in a very rural area, and love it. However that’s one of the
downsides. Icky nasty ticks.
I had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Lyme Disease, Lyme is hard to
get rid of. If you start feeling bad achy, or get ANY kind of rash
(not just the infamous bullseyes rash, ANY rash) visit
the Dr. and make SURE you ask/tell him/her to do a test for ANY tick
infections.
