Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks Dad – CLOSED

As you may have noticed, I feature Chicken Soup for the soul about once a month on my blog.  That’s because nearly each month I receive a new chicken Soup for the Soul book in the mail for review.  I actually get quite excited to see which book I receive and quickly start reading through many of the touching stories.  You see, I am not a reader (read: I DO NOT READ BOOKS – other than to my daughter), but I absolutely love the Chicken Soup for the Soul books.  So, when I receive these books, I get excited about reading something I enjoy.

This time around, I received Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks Dad for review.  Dad’s are very special, and reading some  of the 101 short stories that people wrote about their fathers is truly touching.   Some of the chapters include, How Dad’s say I Love You, Making Gray Hairs – Fathering Teenagers, and Everyday Hero’s just to name a few.  The stories of how Dad’s have been influential, loving, funny and inspirational to each child truly touches my heart.

My daughter has an amazing Father (my husband), and reading these stories really reminds me of how much of a great Dad he is and will continue to be as we grow up and our daughter gets older.  Dad’s are so different than Mom’s and show their children they love them in much different ways than Mother’s do – that is what makes Dad’s so special.

One story I really loved was about a young girl that had broken up with her boyfriend.  She called the house to talk to her Mom (as always), but Dad was the only one home, so she broke down and told her Dad everything.  This was the beginning of  a new relationship for her and her dad.  I really loved the story because I really felt it was so true.  Mom’s are the ones we open up to and share our feelings with, but Dad’s are capable of doing all those things too – right?  They did after all marry our Mothers and us women like to share.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks Dad is a great heartwarming, feel good  book that made me remember all the great things about Dads.  What a great gift for Father’s Day.
