Custom Creations – Wooden name & Hair bow holder – CLOSED

Custom Creations is a company that I have featured here many times before.  I love their personalized wooden names, and Shannon, the designer and painter behind Custom Creations is wonderful as well.  Shannon has added a new product to her line of personalized names.  Custom Creations now carries personalized bow holders – and they are only $9.99!

For review, Shannon sent DD a personalized “G” bow holder in the garden theme.  Sure, it’s very nice, but what REALLY impressed me with this, is that Shannon sent me the matching DD letters over 1 full year ago.  I am sure that since Shannon sent DD her personalized name, she has created 100’s of other personalized creations.  So for her to remember the exact name and pattern that she sent us over 1 full year ago is really a sign that she is either very detailed in her book keeping or that she really takes her time and puts a lot of effort, love and passion into her work of art.  I was extremely impressed when I opened up the package to see the same pattern – excellent touch Shannon!

On top of all that, the bow holder is simply adorable.  The 2 rows of ribbon allow for a lot of bows to be hooked onto the bow holder.  The ribbons are each about 20 cm’s long (?!?), and have cute little butterflies and suns at the bottom which act as weights and an added decals.

I love Custom Creations, Shannon does exceptional personalized work.  A precision cutter does all the wood work, and she does all the artsy painting.   There are 15 different fonts to choose from, 36 different colours and 16 different themes.  With that many choices, you can get really creative and get exactly what you want, but can leave it up to a professional who is talented enough to finish off the perfect design.

For only $9.99, this is a super way to dress up any nursery or child’s bedroom

This Little Piggy’s House – Cardboard Box House (~$60) – CLOSED

My daughter is just at the age where she can spend sometime playing alone doing make believe things.  It’s really nice to watch her play with her toys and have fun.  Seeing as she is growing up so quickly, I was very anxious to receive This Little Piggy’s House for review to see how she would react to this “life size” house (it’s not really life size, but it is way bigger than any of her doll houses, and she can actually go inside – but more on this later).

This house is completely made with cardboard.  The house came shipped flat in a cardboard box – this helps to  save on shipping.  I was surprised how flat the shipping box was compared to the finished house – there is a big difference.  Putting the house together was pretty simple – my Mom actually put most of it together (’nuff said), there were just a few little pieces left over for my husband to put together like the mail box, chimney and flower box.  It was really easy to put it all together – there are little slits in all the places that you have to fit the cardboard into.   Each place that needs to be folded is also perforated.

DD loves the This Little Piggy’s House, she brings all her toys in there and plays around, opening and closing the doors and peeking her head out of the window saying “boo”.  However, she is a little bit rough for a girl (she’s not really that dainty at all), and this house is made out of cardboard.  Although she hasn’t ruined it yet, I do find she is a little bit hard on the house.  I also find that the cardboard shutters do not always stay open and the mail box doesn’t close very well.  Speaking of the mail box, I think there is actually suppose to be two mailboxes and one accidentally ended up in the trash – so make to check each piece before throwing anything out.  I actually doubt that any peices should be thrown out.  We just didn’t realize that there was 2 doors to the house – oops!  Most houses have a front and a back door, I’m not sure why we didn’t think this one would too?!?

The house is a pretty decent size at 22″ x 24″ x 28″, my daughter does have to crawl to get inside but she loves to be in there.  Being so large though, you do need the space in your house because it can’t outside (it’s cardboard remember).  If need be, it would be easy to dissemble and store somewhere flat.

This Little Piggy’s House comes in plain white or brown and also in a fantastic butterfly pattern or toyland pattern.  The last two are quite a bit more expensive, but they look amazing.  With the white or brown houses, your children can design their own home.  I like this because sometimes I find kids have lost their creativity over the years.

It seems to me that my daughter much prefers to play with the cardboard boxes that all of her toys and accessories come in, so really, it makes sense to have a cardboard house.  Also, because it’s cardboard, it’s not as expensive as some of the other houses you can purchase.  Overall, my daughter enjoys her new house and I enjoy watching her play in it.

I didn’t sign up for this

A few months ago I wrote about a new milestone in my life, you can see the post here.   I was really excited about all the great things that this new chapter was going to bring to my life, but it seems the first signs of ageing have appeared overnight….  Gray hair is popping (or sprouting) up everywhere.  I am currently pulling the ones on the top of my head out! Soon, I will have no hair left.

I can’t believe it’s happening already, I didn’t sign up for this……  What’s next?
