I love this time of year! Winter is gone, which means I can bring some bright colours back into my wardrobe. I recently had an opportunity to check out all the great new spring and summer wear at Old Navy! Old Navy is a store that I regularly shop at anyways because my in laws always give me Gift Certificates for birthdays and Christmas (they ask me what I want, and I say, How about a Gift Card to Old Navy?!?), so I was more than happy to check out and review a store that I know I love.
When I arrived at Old Navy, I noticed that my store was going through some renovations and all the employees were wearing orange uniforms like the wear at Home Depot – Super cute! There are a few things that I love about Old Navy, one being that they have really great strollers/carts for kids, with a large basket for clothing and a hook for my purse. This makes shopping at Old Navy really easy with a toddler. Another thing I love about Old Navy is that they have 3 lengths of pants. Being only 5’2″, I would need the short pants. Although I didn’t buy any pants for myself this time around, I love that Old Navy gives me the option to purchase pants without having to get the hemmed.
Now onto the fun things – shopping! I always make sure to surf the whole store front to back, looking at every item available before making a choice on what my new special item is going to be. Sometimes I make sure to get a full matching outfit, but this time around I wasn’t on a hunt for anything in particular so I just let my eyes search until it hit something interesting.
My aunt, who is probably the most fashionable person I know, recently commented how well coral complimented my olive coloured skin. She saw me just before bed one evening and I was wearing a cute coral coloured nighty. Since this is something I wear to bed no one has ever seen me in coral before, so I never had any compliments on how well it looks on me. When I came across the Women’s Gauze Pintuck Tops in coral, this recent flattery came directly to mind, and I knew that was what I had to get!
The lightweight, V-neckline cami/tank top is perfect for both work and play. I first tried a size large, despite being a size 7/8, I generally need a size large or extra large because of my chest size. I tried it on and to my delight, it was too big – everywhere. So, I tried a medium, and once again I found I had a bit of room, I could hardly believe it. So, I went one size down to a small, and it fit perfectly! This is most likely because of the little elastic in the back of the shirt that allows for some extra wiggle room around the chest area. I could hardly believe it. It has probably been 15 years since I have been able to wear a size small! It fit my waist and chest perfectly, I was amazed. Not only does it fit in girth, it also fit in length, and if it were to get too short (which seems to happen with most of my clothes), the straps tie, so I could easily just loosen them up. It’s not very often that I can wear clothing that is “hip” because they just don’t seem to work well with my body type. But this style is suppose to have room in the belly area for a flowly look, and perhaps a little bit tighter at the chest area. The overall verdict – l love the top, not just the colour, but the look too. I am thinking of getting the same shirt in another colour with the Gift Card my in laws gave me for my birthday.
I also was able to get something for my daughter. She is a little easier to shop for because at only 20 months, she doesn’t have an unusual body type (as of yet). I pray that she can get my husband awesome metabolism – but I digress. Since it’s now spring, I thought it would be nice to get her some spring apparel for her as well. I love capri pants, because they can be worn during Spring, Summer and most of the Fall. So I decided on getting her a pair of capri jeans! The Button-Leg Denim Capris for Baby are just too adorable. I love that children’s clothing has come such a long way since I was born. Babies and toddlers now can have mini version of adult clothing that still don’t look overly adult. The jeans have a bit of a tight fit (which is fashionable in adult wear right now). Although they are named “for baby”, they actually come in sizes 6 months – 5 years.
I Love Old Navy, I can always find something there. Whether it be pants, shirts, shoes, bags, sunglasses, something for my dog… you name it. They have so many options from business to casual to working out, so whatever mood I am in, I can always find something that I will like. The frugal part of me also likes the amazing clearance sections! I did find that because my local Old Navy store was going through renovations that they didn’t have as large of a selection as usual, but my daughter and I were both able to find clothing that we will enjoy (and look great in). The customer service was also great, my daughter was “talking” to all the employees and they had a lot of patience with her.
