EcoMom COUPON CODE: “SBBL104″ for 15% off all orders

Sprout Baby has officially now become EcoMom and I want to help spread the word.  As a business owner that recently had to change my brand name, I am thankful to all the blogs and people that helped me with the transition.   EcoMom is the same great store, run by the same great people, and now has the opportunity to bring you even more great organic products since the word Baby has been dropped.

One product that EcoMom has added to their line is organic tot food by Plum Organics Food.   When the good people at EcoMom asked me to review toddler food that was prepackaged, I was hesitant.  I have recently seen in the news that companies such as Gerber have prepackaged meals for children that have more sodium than 2 orders of MacDonald’s fries.  I would much rather give my daughter fresh and healthy choices for meals and snacks.

The products by Plum Organics Food are not even in the same category when it comes to preservatives, sodium, calories, fat and all those other things that we probably don’t want our children consuming at a young age.  I received the organic fruit snacks for review.  These look like juice box style drinks, but the contents is much thicker than juice.  It is more like apple sauce consistency.   In a 90 g serving of the Strawberry Mish Mash there are 40 calories, 4 mg of sodium, 9 g of carbs, 7 g of sugar, 1 g of protein and even 1 g of fiber.  The ingredients are also all natural, including organic apples, organic pears, organic strawberries, and organic acerola fruit.

The twist top of the “juice box” is a very welcome addition to traditional juice boxes.  At such a young age, it’s very rare that my daughter can drink an entire box of juice.  The twist tops allows for the juice to stay fresh between drinking.  I simply have to put the twist top back on and stick it in the fridge for the next time.

I tried the Plum Organics fruit snack, and I thought it tasted much like baby food in the jars.  It’s not too sweet and it is quite thick.  What I love about it, is that is gives my daughter the ability to feel independent and drink this on her own.   One thing I have to warn you though is that because the side of the fruit snack is squeezable, sometimes its more fun to just squeeze out the contents rather than drink it from the straw.  This is something we are working on.

I also received some snack size organic sandwiches by Revolution Foods.  These are the classic snacks like peanut butter and jelly, but are shaped and feel more like a fig newton.   These mini bars are wheat free, made with 100% whole grains and organic fruit spreads and have no trans fat or corrn syrup.   I tried these and thought that they tasted very similar to a peanut butter and jam sandwich (one of my favourite quick and easy sandwiches).  Usually with the words organic and all natural, people think that taste is compromised.  However, I would say that these quick and easy organic snacks have not lost any flavour; especially if these are being served to youngsters who have less refined pallets.  I also love that Revolution Foods has a healthy lunch program to ensure children have healthy and good food to eat while at school.

If you like the idea of giving our children healthy snacks (who doesn’t), but seem to have a hard time to get your kids to munch on a carrot, then the quick and easy snacks at EcoMom will make both you and your little one happy.  They will like eating the yummy food, and you will like that it’s much better for them to eat then a handful of fries.
