Where’s Spot? – 30th Anniversary DVD (2 Winners) -CLOSED

by Mommy on April 20, 2010

Where’s Spot? a classic book that started around the time I was born (1980), is turning 30 – just like me!  I grew up with this book, and was very surprised when the people at Warner Brother’s contacted me to review the DVD.  I was not aware that Where’s Spot? had made his way onto the big screen, I only ever knew him as a book character.  The 30th anniversary DVD will be hitting store on April 20th.

Here’s a synopsis:

BBC is celebrating the 30th anniversary with an all-new DVD edition of Where’s Spot?!  Kids will love searching for Spot in this adorable children’s classic.  Plus, in this DVD, you’ll also have fun with Spot at the playground, at the park, in the bath, and more!  There are six episodes all together, each with its own special song, plus three bonus episodes, games, and more!  Spot has never been so delightful!

I actually loved the Where’s Spot? DVD.  Although it isn’t really entertaining for the adults, it sure keeps my daughters attention.  She will sit on my lap for the whole show, which is about 30 minutes worth of mini episodes (about 4 or 5 minutes each), and then want to watch it again.  My daughter doesn’t usually spend much time cuddling, so I take advantage of this time.  The animation is simple, there are just a few words and spot is in familiar places like the park and at home with just a few friends.  Where’s Spot?  is very simple and easy for the pre preschoolers to understand.   My daughter was fascinated with Spot, she kept saying “Puppy, Puppy, Puppy”, and then saying “ball, ball, ball”, when Spot was playing with his ball.

Although my daughter is only 2o months old, she has started with temper tantrums.  Just today, she was out of control (twice), and both times, Where’s Spot? has been our life saver.  This movie  really calmed her down.  We were all more than thankful to have all the crying and insanity stop.

There are also bonus features which includes 3 extra bonus editions and the author Eric Hill reading the original Where’s Spot book.

This movie is just the same as I remember the books, so it brought back a lot of memories from my childhood.  I love being able to bring these types of characters to my daughter, but just with a newer technology!
