Sampar – Barely There Moisture Fluid ($48) – CLOSED

I have very sensitive skin.  It is so sensitive in fact that I have only been using water and a pure soap to wash my face.  I have tried moisturizers in the past and my face has broken out in pimples.  I am 30, I shouldn’t have pimples anymore.  I do not use exfoliant or toner as those also make my face break out.  As much as I want to use all those products on my face, I’d look closer to a 15 year old with a bunch of zits on my face,  and it’s not really a look I am a fan of.

At 30, I know I have to start using something on my face to keep it looking healthy and give it a nice glow.  When I receive Sampar products for review, I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to get my face back in check.  I received Pure Perfection – Barely There Moisture Fluid.  I have been using it everyday and night since January 22nd (so over 2 months).  This facial cream is so soft and light.  I don’t know if it makes sense to call a moisturizer silky, but that is the best way I can describe it.  I barely even need to use much of the cream (about the size of a dime), and it covers my cheeks, chin, nose and forehead.  I also like the click and twist cap, it makes it easy to just get small amounts of cream out of the bottle at a time.

The best part is, I have yet to break out with a single pimple, and I feel that my face has benefited from using a moisturizer everyday.   I use to have a line on my right cheek, it was pretty thin, and I bet if I asked anyone if they saw it there they would say no.  But to me, it was like having a huge gash in the middle of my face.  After using this Sampar cream, I no longer have the gouge in my face.  I don’t even think Sampar says that it will fix those types of facial imperfections, but with ingredients such as zinc, Horse Chestnut Extract, Sweet Almond Protein and Anti-oxidants it is sure to have some healing effects.  I haven’t changed anything else to my routine, so the Sampar cream is the only thing I can attribute to my line going away.

Here are the things that Sampar does claim do for your skin:

  • Regulate oil production and reduce inflammation
  • Tighten pores and reduce redness
  • Enhance hydration and comfort

I am very impressed with Sampar Pure Perfection – Barely There Moisture Fluid.  With such finicky skin, I wasn’t sure if this was going to workout for me.  It has done wonders for my skin.

If you also have temperamental skin, I would definitely suggest Sampar.

Eureka! – Sleeping Bag – CLOSED

I remember going for sleepovers as a child and having to bring this sleeping bag with me that was probably big enough to fit 2 adults and weighed probably about 10 pounds.  Sleeping bags have come a very long way in 20 years (Oh My Goodness, I can’t believe I just said that).   One such company that is making sleeping and camping gear easier to carry and more efficient is Eureka!

For review, Eureka! sent us the cutest kid sized Lady Bug sleeping bag.  The sleeping bag is called a Mummy bag (meaning it’s form fitting and tighter around the legs and feet rather than a big rectangle).  The sleeping bag is made with all the same material as the adult bag, but is only smaller.  I thought that it was going to be a lot smaller, but I can actually fit into it.  I am 5’2″, and I can get in the bag, zip it up and completely enclose my head – speaking of which has a string that can be pulled tight to cover your whole head.  The zipper at the top of the sleeping bag also has a little velcro covering so the zipper isn’t in your face all night or wont creep it’s way down while sleeping.

This cute light purple bag only weighs just over 2 pounds, and can be rolled up into a bag.  When I first opened up the sleeping bag, I thought I would never be able to fit the sleeping bag back in it’s original package, but I was able to roll it up and stuff it back in.  It  might not look as perfect, but it fits.

The sleeping bag is good for 30 degrees Fahrenheit or around freezing.  Now, I didn’t take this outside and sleep in it so I can’t say for sure how well it will keep you warm, but I did use it in my home on some chilly evenings, and it kept me more than toasty warm.

This is going to be the perfect sleepover sleeping bag for my little one when she starts wanting to spend the night at her friends house.  It’s light, warm, and pretty girly, there is even a little pocket for her to put a little teddy bear or toy in to stay close while shes away from home.

Crywolf – Matching kid and parent shirts – CLOSED

Rose Chang and Stephanie Drabik are the creative designers behind Crywolf.  A Canadian clothing line that features one of a kind designs, with each design being the original art of these art school friends.  Crywolf carries clothing for women, men and the little ones (starting at size 2T) as well as accessories such as purses, wall art and plushies (toys).

For review, I received the l’il penguin t-shirt in size 2T.  This t-shirt comes in grey only.  I’m not sure why I went with the t-shirt rather than the cap sleeve (which comes in pink).  In any case, the shirt is very cute, and I am pleased with the grey.  This shirt is unisex. Penguins are cute for either a boy or a girl, so this is the perfect shirt to go through multiple kids.  As for size, this is very hard for me to judge because my daughter is pretty big for her age.  She’s 19 months (where has the time gone), and is nearly the size of a 2 year old.  So taking this into account, I would say 2T would fit the average 2 year old, or an 19 month old that is close to the size of a 2 year old.  Over all, a cute little tee, for a cute little boy or girl.

Most of the kids t-shirts are available from sizes 2T – 12 years. They also have adorable cardigans for the kids, what a great way to finish off an outfit.

The adult clothing line also carries the adorable penguin shirt!  My husband and daughter have “matching” tees (another brand name), and there is nothing cuter when I see the two of them – her in pink, and he in black, it makes me wish I had a matching top too.  The l’il penguin t-shirt is one of those matching tees that all of us could wear.  Maybe some people would think this is odd, but once in a while (especially if we were away from each other), it’s nice to feel so connected.

Crywolf clothing and accessories are unique, hip, fun and 100% Canadian.

Toy Story and Toy Story 2 combo pack on DVD and Blu-Ray

Toy Story and Toy Story 2 combo pack on DVD and Blu-Ray is available in stores March 23rd (the first time these movies are viewable on Blu-Ray).  Toy story was originally released in 1995, and is a classic Disney / Pixar movie that I have watched a number if times despite being a teenager when it was first out.  Toy Story is probably one of the only films that has a sequel that is just as successful as the original (it has won many awards).  The sequel was released in 1999.  I have also watched this movie a few times despite being nearly 20 when it was released – what can I say, I am a Toy Story fan!

Here’s a Synopsis:

Toy Story

Experience a hilarious fantasy about the lives toys lead when they’re left alone.  Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks), an old-fashioned cowboy doll, is Andy’s favorite.  But when Andy gets Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Tim Allen) for his Birthday, the flashy new space hero takes Andy’s room by storm!  Their rivalry leaves them lost with a toy’s worst nightmare –Sid, the toy-torturing boy next door.  Woody and Buzz must work together to escape, realizing along the way that they’ve got a friend … in each other!

Toy Story 2

While Andy is away at summer camp, Woody is toynapped by Al McWhiggin, a greedy collector who needs Andy’s favorite toy to complete his “Woody’s Roundup” collection.  Together with Jessie (voices by Joan Cusack), Bullseye, and the Prospector, Woody is on his way to a museum where he’ll spend the rest of his life behind glass. It’s up to Buzz, Mr. Potato Head, Hamm, Rex, and Slinky Dog to rescue their friend and remind him what being a toy is all about.

I really enjoyed sitting down with my family to watch these movies – we had a Toy Story weekend.  It had been years since I have seen them, and it gave me a new appreciation for how great Pixar films are.  Some of my favourite parts of the movies are the old toys including trolls, Mr. Potato head, Barrel of Monkey’s and Etch A Sketch, all things that were around while I was growing up.   I also like the the positive messages about helping one another, looking past differences, and how important it is to stick together.

Both the movies are pretty tame, however there were a few mini scary parts for the really younger kids such as Sid and his toys and a few words such as stupid and Shut Up, but overall, both Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are very family friendly movies.

I really like that Toy Story 2 introduces Jessie the cowgirl, although Toy Story does appeal to girls, I think the presence of Jessie makes girls want to watch this movie even more; she’s clever and adorable, and has a great accent.   I also like that Al, the Toy Collector is played by Wayne Knight, who is Newman from Seinfeld.  I am also a Seinfeld fan (like millions of others), so  this character really appealed to me, and probably many other parents.

I am eagerly awaiting the release of Toy Story 3 (it was great to get a sneak peek – there are some funny references to modern times such as Ebay) , which is due out in theaters June 18, 2010.  Andy, is all grown up now, so Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the gang end up in a daycare.  I’m sure the adventure will be just as exciting and funny as the previous ones.

I may be 30, but I still enjoy a good movie – whether or not it’s a cartoon.  Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are movies that every member of the family, young or old will enjoy.  I wish my daughter was old enough to bring to the theater, because Toy Story 3 is one movie that I would really enjoy seeing there.  Until then, we will watch the movies at home on DVD and Blu-ray.
