Nana’s Natural Diapers – $25 Gift Certificate – CLOSED

by Jennifer on February 23, 2010

One of the things we were adamant about when we found out we were having a baby is that we would only cloth diaper.  At the time, we had no idea how many wonderful choices there were – cloth vs. wool vs. hemp vs. plastic, snaps vs. Velcro… the selections were dizzying.  I found we had to enlist help from other cloth diapering parents and then try out a few products to really settle on what we wanted.  Now that our babe is not so little, I find myself asking similar questions about what to choose; her needs have definitely changed in the short time that she has been with us.

For review, I received the Biobottoms Classic Wool Diaper Cover from Nana’s Natural Diapers.  It is made of a dense, felted lambswool and prettily edged with a colourful rainbow thread, which is gender neutral.  Since wool is known to be breathable, it really cuts down on the possibility that your baby’s bottom is going to be visited by a diaper rash.  Biobottoms’ 23 year diaper making experience shines through with this fab cover.

I love the Biobottoms cover for its full coverage – the material more than protects the underlying diaper without being bulky.  The cover fits to look like a pair of very short shorts, meaning that the very top of the leg is covered and protected from leaks. To double up on this protection, Biobottoms has a dual snap at the leg to increase the snugness of the fit.  Biobottoms also offers a “high cut” cover for more generous legs.  The main closure is a wide band of Velcro.  I also quite enjoyed not having to lanolize the cover before using it; it is leak proof all on its own.  The cover washes easily in cold water and I just hang it to dry.

Nana’s Natural Diapers also offers other products including Chinese prefolds, Evi Dolls, changing pads, Platypaws, wash and Weleda products.  I was quite interested in the Eucalan product Nana’s sells – it is a wash product that you can use when you inevitably have to put your baby clothes in storage.  It has natural moth and flea inhibiting properties and scented with natural essential oils.

The bottom line?  (pardon the pun) is that I find myself reaching for the Biobottoms cover whenever it is dry / clean.  I love the Biobottoms cover so much, had I known about them from the beginning, I doubt I would have used another brand.
