It is so easy to get caught in the maelstrom of doing what is best for the environment and local causes that I often lose my focus on my overseas humanitarian responsibilities. Like the environmental causes, people in developing countries who have no fresh water or access to education often feel a little removed from my busy North American life, but I try (sometimes very hard, sometimes not so hard) to be connected and make essential changes. It takes a mindful practice to see how my purchase choices and daily activities impact a child’s schooling or a farmer far, far away.
five ACCESSORIES is a company focused on helping others with handbags and wood jewellery from Bali, Honduras, Cambodia and India – and a wonderful way to keep the needs of others present. All of their products are handcrafted out of recycled material, natural fibres, bamboo, recycled potato chip bags, candy wrappers, wicker, coconut shells, silver, cloth, leather and more; materials unique to each artisan’s locality. Five dollars from every handbag and fifteen percent of all other sales is donated to help support grassroots efforts around the globe to aid under-privileged children, all while using sustainable materials.
The two bracelets I received for review from five ACCESSORIES is a wonderful example of fashion meeting with sustainability. The cut of the wood on the bracelets are eye catching and can be used to dress up a simple outfit without too much splash. five ACCESSORIES also carries a fun collection of other accessories, including handbags. I have pictured a quilted bag here, but there are many more (and dressier) bags for purchase.
This company is also involved with StreetWise, a social enterprise designed to help severely impoverished men and women out of poverty. five ACCESSORIES works with StreetWise and its vendors to create handmade accessories using recycled urban “refuse,” such as ticket stubs, bottle caps and similar items collected from the streets of Chicago. The Off the Street project generates income for participating StreetWise vendors. I have pictured a pop top bracelet here (who would have thought that this delicate beauty was once a pop can???).

Winsome thoughts here. Are you currently convinced it is the accurate solution to appear at it though? My own private expertise is that we need to pretty much stay and allow live simply because what 1 particular person thinks just — yet another human being purely will not. Human beings are going to complete what they want to try and do. Inside the end, they constantly do. The most we can hope for should be to create a number of factors here and there that hopefully, makes it possible for them to make just a little far better informed decision. Otherwise, fantastic post. You are surely making me believe
