LeapFrog – Learning DVD Set

LeapFrog is a regular on MWV.  I really love their age appropriate educational toys, many of which can be used for a long period of time while your child develops and learns new things.  One such item that I recently received for review is the LeapFrog – Learning DVD Set.  This set comes with 3 learning movies, and some flash cards.

The movies are as follows:

Talking Words Factory: Reading Skills

  • The Alphabet
  • Phonics Skills
  • Word Building

Let’s Go to School: PreSchool Skills

  • Phonics Skills
  • Counting
  • Anamials

Letter Factory: Early Reading Skills

  • The Alphabet
  • Letter names
  • Letter sounds

My daughter is still a little too young to get the LeapFrog movies, but I have played the Let’s Go to School DVD for her, and the songs keep her attention for a few minutes (she dances).  But what she does love about the set is the Flash Cards that came with the package.  There are flashcards from A – Z that are a little larger than a regular set of cards.  I say each letter outloud, and she tries her best to repeat it.  It sounds something like this:

Me: “A”

G: “aayyyeee”

Me: “B”

G: “aayyyeee”

Do I need to keep going?  I think you get the picture, everything is “aayyyeee”, until we get up to L,M,N,O,P, for some reason she can babel her way through something that sounds like L,M,N,O,P. (Well at least to me)

She also loves hanging onto the cards, she sees how many she can put in each of her hands, and carry them around.  The cards are also colour coded, with each set of letters, such as “A,B,C,D” being yellow and so on.

Although she is not yet ready for the DVD’s, the set is still age appropriate because she loves the flash cards, and she will grow into the DVD’s shortly.
