Papmers “A Parent is Born”

Being a new parent is no easy feat.  There are so many things I would have liked to have known before I became a Mom, that’s why Pampers and Mom Central have come together to create a tip sheet for new and expecting parents.

I have a few best parenting tips for all of you soon to be or new parents:

  • Listen to your baby, not everyone else.  Your baby will let you know when they are not happy.  As new parents your natural instincts will kick in.  You will get to know your baby and their habits.  Other people that stop by are only with your baby a few minutes,  you spend the whole day with them, no one will know your baby better than you do.
  • Everything is a phase, good and bad – so enjoy the good phases – they could be short lived, and just remember that the bad phases will eventually phase out.

Pampers would also like tips on returning to work.

I recently had to go back to work, and my best advise would be to find a child care provider that you trust.  If your mind can be at ease while at work, you and your family will all function better.  In my case, I hired on my Mother to babysit everyday.  Although she is quite a bit more expensive than Daycare, the piece of mind that my husband and I have is priceless.  We don’t have to worry about being held late at work, and we know that no one in the world has a better invested interest in her well being other than her Grandmother.  Although the first few days at work were difficult, it was because I missed my daughter, not because I was worried about anything else.  I quickly began liking my “free” time at the office.

Sleep is also a regular hot topic.  My advise on sleep is not to listen to everyone else that says their kids have been sleeping through the night since they were 4 days old.   My daughter is 16 months, and we are still up at least once a night.  Whether or not the other parents are telling the truth, each child is different, and your child will sleep through the night when they are ready.

For Moms and Dads, sleep whenever your child is sleeping,,, do the dishes later.  If  you are lucky enough to have a grandparent around, don’t feel compelled to stay awake while they come to visit, they too were once parents and know how sleep deprived you are.  Ask them to take care of the baby while you get a good nap – you will be a better parent when you wake up.

Pampers is hoping that you will add to the list of tips, and is offering a chance to win one of 25 gift cards ($20 each) or the grand prize of $500  for your tips on returning to work and sleep. Please visit http://www.momcentral.com/cms/103748/pampers_a_parent_is_born to enter.
