Nifty Nappy – $35 Gift Certificate – CLOSED

A few years ago while visiting a local public pool, I noticed a lifeguard fishing something out of the water with the pool net. He looked a little green around the gills as he went about his business so curiosity got the better of me and I swam closer. Since I was swimming in the warmer pool, where most of the kids swim, I am sure you can guess what he netted; my husband would call it a “fin-less brown”. I asked the lifeguard how often he had to do that and when he told me it occurs at least a few times a day, I stopped swimming in the warmer pool. It wasn’t until we started taking our daughter to the pool that I got back in, hoping the chlorine was doing its job.

reuseable swim diapers from Nifty Nappy

This experience got me thinking about swim diapers. We had been using disposable swim diapers until I received the Snappy SwimzEaze diapers for review from Nifty Nappy. The disposables were not at all water tight and judging by the number of kids wearing these things at the pool, it was easy to imagine how a lifeguard and his poop net could be kept busy all day long. Not true of the Snappy SwimzEaze, thankfully. This reusable swim diaper is made with a waterproof layer, microfleece layer and an outer patterned cotton knit or flannel. These reusable swim diapers are available in a wide range of designs, which include patterns like “Safari”, “Flower Power” and “Field of Violets” (Nifty Nappy also gives you some Christmas choices too). With its adjustable durable resin snap closures, the diaper is easily adjustable from newborn to a size four diaper (also available in a larger size). At just $12 a diaper, you can see how these reusable swim diapers quickly save you money! And since we cloth diaper at home, it made sense to be able to cloth diaper at the pool too. The diapers were easy to use and when we were done at the pool, we just put them in a sealable pouch to take them home to wash. Nifty Nappy asks that you use gentle laundry detergents on all of their products to make them last longer.

wool knickersNifty Nappy‘s creator is a mom of six children (not a typo), so she has had lots of experience finding and making the right reusable diaper. In addition to the reusable swim diaper, Nifty Nappy also carries normal cloth diapers, pocket diapers and wool covers. The cloth diapers are made from organic hemp and bamboo, for extra absorbency and natural anti-bacterial properties. In case you are new to the cloth diaper scene, Nifty Nappy’s website gives you a tutorial (don’t worry, it isn’t at all difficult… even with a sleep deprived brain!).
