Christmas Gift Idea for Toddlers

Being a parent can be really hard work, especially if you endeavor to successfully meet all of their needs, spoken or not. There are meals to be prepared, bath times to be Kai-lan Happy Doll from Fisher Pricearranged, diaper changes to be negotiated, naps to be scheduled, play dates to be organized, parenting books to be read, little brains to expand, energy to be burned off… the list is exhausting. But this list of things is useless unless you have an emotionally well adjusted child; an unhappy kid is the monkey wrench in any well-laid parenting plan.

Fisher Price has launched a series of dolls to help youngsters aged three years and older express themselves. Available in a collection of four, the Kai-lan dolls are approximately eleven inches tall, made of plush and are light enough for a small child to carry around. The Kai-lan dolls are available in four emotions: happy, giggly, sweet and silly.

Kai-lan Silly DollThe For those of you unfamiliar with Nickelodeon franchise, Kai-lan is a main character in Nickelodeon’s hit animated pre-school series, Ni Hao (which translates into “How are you?”). Ni Hao focuses on introducing Mandarin values and words, teaching children about mixed ethnic families, multiculturalism and important pre-schooler skills like patience and sharing. Think of Kai-lan as the new Dora the Explorer. Fisher Price also offers a fun selection of Kai-lan inspired toys that include books, board games, games for the Wii, DVD’s, inflatables and mega blocks.

Kai-lan Giggly Doll

Fisher Price Super Emotions Happy Kai-lan doll I received for review comes dressed in cheerful yellow outfit, with the Chinese symbol for “happy” written on her shirt. Also included is a jade inspired necklace with the same Chinese symbol that either the Kai-lan doll or your child can wear.

Kai-lan Sweet Doll

The Kai-lan doll is not the only outlet you can use to help your child express how they feel, but it can be a good start. As every parent knows, getting your child to explain how they feel or act appropriately to convey what they might be thinking can sometimes be an uphill climb; they simply respond and communicate differently than adults. I think that teaching our kids to effectively be in touch with the world around them is an important, healthy skill.
