Late July – Organic Cookies Package – CLOSED

I am a woman obsessed with cookies. Not ALL cookies make my list; I am a bit discriminatory about what goes into my gut even during my biggest sweet cravings. I try to eat mostly home baked goods so that I can feel good about the ingredients, but with a busy bee toddler, cookies are just about the last thing I can make time for.

latejulycookiesWhen I received Late July mini organic cookies for review, I felt like Christmas had come early. Late July is a company known for its organic snacks – crackers and the aforementioned cookies. The founders of Late July have also started other natural snacking companies (such as Cape Cod Potato Chips), leaving me to wonder if this family based business would adopt me? Choosing organic foods means choosing sustainability. The ingredients list in Late July organic cookies helps to keep chemicals out of our bodies. According to Late July’s literature, “More than 600,000 children eat a dose of organophosphate insecticides every day that the government considers unsafe.” Wow. I’ll let that sink in a moment…

Late July supports the Jane Goodall Institute by donating 10% of its profits. The mini organic cookies are shaped into animals being brought back from the brink of extinction. You can enjoy your organic cookies with leatherback sea turtles, chimpanzees, giant pandas, red wolves, Sumantran rhinos, pygmy rabbits and the black-footed ferret stamped into your snack.latejulyanimals

Don’t believe that good-for-you ingredients and yummy-ness exist in the same snack? With an impressive list of pronounceable organic ingredients that include whole wheat flour (main ingredient, by the way), brown rice syrup, and cocoa butter, I can tell you it does. 10 mini cookies will give you 130 – 140 calories (depending on whether you are noshing on the vanilla or chocolate organic cookies), 10% of your daily calcium requirements and at least 8 grams of whole grains. As a personal testament to their taste, I ate an entire box of these sandwich style organic cookies within three days.
