When I grew up in the 70′s, cartoons were only on Saturday mornings. To add to my childhood dismay, we had what was affectionately called “country cable” ,so until I was 8 , we had 3 channels and I had only seen two cartoons. Although they were both great cartoons, it left   to be desired. Now that I have a child, I am amazed at the assortment and quality of cartoons available for kids these days; I love the detailed story lines that have great life lessons and also the amazing characters which bring those inspiring messages to life.

We received for review Handy Manny-Motorcycle Adventure, Disney’s first ever full length Handy Manny cartoon. Handy Manny-Motorcycle Adventure is an animated cross-country expedition which Manny and his clever little set of tools go on to go to the fiesta grande-Manny’s family reunion. Along the way, Manny and his pals take the time to stop in various towns and cities to do some small repairs. Although Manny considers his tools to be their own family, Pat, the hammer decides he should venture off to try and find his own family and in the process he and some of the other tools get separated from Manny and the other tools. Oh no! What is Manny to do? Its up to him to cruise along on his bike and help find Pat and the other tools. After all, what is family for? A delightful tale, Handy Manny’s Motorcycle Adventure  revolves around family, and all the different types of families there are.  With that in mind, Manny successfully manges to rescue Pat, Flicker and Squeeze, hooray for Manny! With all the tools back where they belong, Manny still has time to make it to the festivities of the fiesta grande!

In addition, Handy Manny has a super cute bonus episode, ” A Very Handy Holiday”. The holiday tells the story of Kelly’s Winter Holiday Party; a series of emergency holiday repairs are needed all over town, the tools come th their rescue. Even thought it has challenged their idea of what holiday means, the tools learn that helping others is the best way to celebrate the holidays.

I adore Handy Manny, his character teaches chilren moral lessons about family and co-operation all with some culture, some new lingo and a groovy soundtrack.

As an added bonus, you can watch the movie 3 different modes using the remote:

1. Regular movie mode; just enjoy the movie

2. Adventure mode 1 (ages 2-3) – as you watch the movie, use your remote to answer fun questions about colors, shapes and sizes.

3. Adventure mode 2 (ages 4-5) – move to a higher level with more challenging questions using your remote.

Great for the pre-schooler on your holiday list, they’ll love it.
