Christmas Gift Idea for the cloth diapering family

Fluffy Bottom Babies is run by local mommy Stephanie Lane.  The cloth Diaper store is located in her home in Timberlea, Nova Scotia, which is just down the road from my house.  She carries all the mainstream brands which can sometimes be difficult to get in Canada like Thirsties, Bum Genius (including 3.0) and Happy Heinys. Along with diapers, she also carries accessories such as Baby Legs, Peanut Shell nursing covers and the ever popular Soap Nuts for washes.

For review, I was interested in trying a cloth diaper that I had seen on a few sites before, but never had the opportunity to test out – The Gro Baby!  Before I go any further, I want to let you all know, this is THE BEST CLOTH DIAPER I HAVE EVER TESTED!  Ok,, phew, now that I have that off my chest, I can tell you all why it is a simply amazing diaper.

First, The Gro Baby that Fluffy Bottom Babies sent for review is a one size fits all diaper.  This means that there are snaps that can make the diaper shorter or longer in length.  Genevieve is about 25 pounds right now (but don’t tell her I told you guys that) she is currently at the stage where she needs no snaps clipped together (also known as the biggest size).  The diaper fits perfectly around the legs and girth and there is absolutely no leaking.  The velcro around the tunny is super soft.  It does not look like a normal velcro at all, although it sticks just the same.  It is not rough and the section is very large so the tabs can go anywhere along the front of the diaper.

Second, and personally what I think is the best feature of the the Gro Baby is that the diaper cover is reusable.   You can have multiple diaper changes with one cover!  To change your baby’s soiled diaper, you simply have to change the organic cotton soaker pad that is snapped onto the shell with 2 snaps, one in the front and the other in the back. The cover has a mesh inner which eliminates the moisture.   With most cloth diapers, whether they are All in Ones, pockets, true cloth, you need about 25 to make it through a few days without doing a wash.  With the Gro Baby, you would only need 2 – 4 shells a day and 25 snap soaker pads.  This will decrease the amount in the wash each time, and also makes cloth diapering even cheaper.

I recently used the Gro Baby while on a rather long outing with Genevieve .  It turned out we had gone nearly 1/2 the day without a bum change - I was horrified that we had let this happen.  I thought for sure she would be absolutely soaked through all her clothing, but to my (and my husbands) utmost surprise, her clothing was D-R-Y!  We were more than amazed.   This was a true sign of the Gro Baby’s capabilities.

Although upfront, you may be thinking that the Gro Baby is a little pricey at nearly $30 CDN each, however you will only have to buy a few outer shells, the soacker pads are only $20 CDN/ 2 pack, and the boosters (extra insert) are only $10 CDN / 2 pack.  You will also be able to use the Gro Baby diaper through your child’s entire cloth diapering life, as they are good for children 8 – 35 pounds.
